Getting row data from SlickGrid when using the pager plugin - slickgrid

I'm using SlickGrid with the pager plugin. My intent is to display line items in SlickGrid and allow the user to double click on a row to get more detail. I have code that seems to work fine but it feels as though I'm doing this the hard way:
grid.onDblClick.subscribe(function(e, args) {
var selectedIndex = parseInt(grid.getSelectedRows());
var pageInfo = dataView.getPagingInfo();
var pageSize = pageInfo.pageSize;
var pageNum = pageInfo.pageNum;
var idx = pageSize*pageNum + selectedIndex;
var asset = rows[idx].assetName;
alert("Selected Asset is " + asset);
});
I've seen other questions posted where people did a grid.getData()[selectedIndex] or a dataView.getItemById(selectedIndex), but since selectedIndex is always a 0 to something number, I always got data from the first page in my list regardless of which page I was on. Is there a direct way to map a selected index on a page to the actual row in the data array? Again, the code above seems to work fine - just feels like I'm missing an obvious method somewhere.

grid.onDblClick.subscribe(function(e, args) {
alert("Selected asset is " + args.item);
alert("Or " + grid.getData().getItem(args.row));
alert("Or " + grid.getDataItem(args.row));
});

Google Sheets - Multiple dependent drop-down lists

I am trying to create a dependent list as described and answered (with a script) here.
I would like to achieve that if selecting a certain value (e.g. "First") from a cell in column 1, then the drop-down options from the next cell in the same row should offer a range of values from the column in a different sheet with the same heading as the value in the first - left - cell (i.e. the first sheet is called "Selector" - in which there are dropdowns, in the second sheet called "KAT" I have the options for these dropdowns). This should then be possible for every row depending on the value of each first cell of the row.
I have tried to use and adapt the suggested script and have reviewed the sample files in the article but I apparently lack some basic understanding of the script to be able to adapt and implement it properly.
Could anybody kindly help me with making this dynamic dropdown work properly?
Just to clarify my final intention: I would like to have this script working first to be able to use it on multiple files. My final goal, though, is to make self-filling dropdown lists and selectors, so that I could simply fill in the data in the "Selector" sheet and would then be able to select these same values later in the cells below (depending on the name (value) of the first cell in the row = first cell of the column holding validation range). I hope to be able to achieve this by using either Pivot table or any other formula in the "KAT" sheet that would aggregate my data from "Selector" sheet and feed them back as drop-down options ...).
Thank you for your help.
See the example sheet here
Code I used (as above):
function onEdit()
{
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet(),
sheet = ss.getActiveSheet(),
name = sheet.getName();
if (name != 'Selector') return;
var range = sheet.getActiveRange(),
col = range.getColumn();
if (col != 1) return;
var val = range.getValue(),
dv = ss.getSheetByName('KAT'),
data = dv.getDataRange().getValues(),
catCol = data[0].indexOf(val),
list = [];
Logger.log(catCol)
for (var i = 1, len = 100; i < len; i++) // Problem is here, you have too many items in list! Cannot have more 500 items for validation
list.push(data[i][catCol]);
var listRange = dv.getRange(2,catCol +1,dv.getLastRow() - 1, 1)
Logger.log(list)
var cell = sheet.getRange(range.getRow(), col-1)
var rule = SpreadsheetApp.newDataValidation()
.requireValueInRange(listRange) // Use requireValueIn Range instead to fix the problem
.build();
cell.setDataValidation(rule);
Logger.log(cell.getRow())
}
This question deals with dynamic dropdown lists. A previous question and answer on StackOverflow (Google Sheets - Dependent drop-down lists) were referenced, and code from that answer was being unsuccessfully re-purposed.
The code in the question was not working for one reason: Line 20
var cell = sheet.getRange(range.getRow(), col-1)
In the referenced code, the dropdown list begins in Column F (col=6). The dependant dropdowns ranged to the left so the definition of the dependant column was "col-1". In the questioner's scenario, the dropdown list begins in Column A (col=1) and the dependant dropdowns range from left to right. However, this line of code was not changed to take into account the different layout. Rather than "col-1", it should be "col+1".
Other matters
In addition to this, lines 16 and 17 perform a loop to create an array that might be used for the dependant dropdown. However the loop is redundant because the dropdown is actual defined by creating and assigning a range on the "KAT" sheet.
Cell A2 of KAT includes a formula:
=sort(unique(Selector!$A$2:$A),1,true)
This may appear to be useful because it automatically adds any new dropdown value entered in "Selector" to a list of values in KAT. In reality it is unproductive, because the dependant dropdown build by the code works vertically rather than horizontally. So an additional row added to KAT does not, of itself, contribute to building the dependant dropdown.
The following code works to build the dependant drop down list. I have deliberately left a number of "Logger" entries in the code to assist the questioner in understanding how the code works.
function onEdit() {
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
var sheet = ss.getActiveSheet();
var name = sheet.getName();
if (name != 'Selector') return;
var range = sheet.getActiveRange();
var col = range.getColumn();
var dropdownrow = range.getRow(); // added for debugging and informationm
if (col != 1) return;
var val = range.getValue();
Logger.log("the cursor is in 'Selector' in cell = " + range.getA1Notation()); //DEBUG
Logger.log("That's row " + dropdownrow + ", and column " + col + ". The value selected = " + val); // DEBUG
var dv = ss.getSheetByName('KAT');
var data = dv.getDataRange().getValues();
var catCol = data[0].indexOf(val);
var list = [];
var KAT_data = dv.getDataRange();
var KAT_data_len = KAT_data.getLastRow(); // added to give 'for' loop a sensible range
Logger.log("The data range on KAT is " + KAT_data.getA1Notation() + ", and the last row of data = " + KAT_data_len); //DEBUG
Logger.log("KAT data = '" + data + "'"); // DEBUG
Logger.log("Found the dropdown cell value of '" + val + "' in KAT as item #" + catCol); //DEBUG
for (var i = 1, len = KAT_data_len; i < len; i++) { // Irrelevant because the data validation range is obtained by defining a range on KAT
// Problem is here, the unique command in A2 creates a blank row
// Logger.log("i="+i+", data = "+data[i][catCol]); // DEBUG
list.push(data[i][catCol]);
}
var listRange = dv.getRange(2, catCol + 1, dv.getLastRow() - 1, 1);
Logger.log("FWIW, this is the list after the loop= " + list); // DEBUG
Logger.log("The contents for the new data validation range (taken from KAT) is " + listRange.getA1Notation()); // DEBUG
Logger.log("The new validation range gets added to col = " + (col + 1)); // DEBUG
//var cell = sheet.getRange(range.getRow(), col-1); // governs the next validation range. Example validation worked right to left, but this sheet works left to right. So must ADD 1, not subtract 1.
var cell = sheet.getRange(range.getRow(), col + 1);
Logger.log("The cell to be assigned the new validation range will be " + cell.getA1Notation()); // DEBUG
var rule = SpreadsheetApp.newDataValidation().requireValueInRange(listRange).build(); // Build validation rule
cell.setDataValidation(rule); // assign validation range to new cell
}
Is this code worthwhile?
The code, as written and referenced, is limited to creating only one level of dependant dropdowns. To this extent it has very limited value. A different approach to creating dependant dropdowns is justified.
"How do you do dynamic / dependent drop downs in Google Sheets?" on StackOverflow has been a meeting place for discussing and updating techniques for dynamic dependant dropdowns since 2014. The latest update was in February 2018 by Max Makhrov. Thye code described here may be useful for the questioner.

KendoMobile scrollview problems with transition animations

I'm currently developping a WebApp with KendoMobile.
I have use a scrollView to display an informations bar like you can see on the picture below :
The problem comes when I click on a marker.
I wrote a function that change the page of the scrollview to match the marker I clicked.
Here is the code of the method :
google.maps.event.addListener(markerObj, 'click', function() {
var page = fournisseursArrayIndexOf(markerObj.data["ID"]);
console.log("marker title : " + markerObj.title + " / footer page : " + page);
var footer = $("#footer").data("kendoMobileScrollView");
var curpage = footer.page;
markers[curpage].setIcon(normalImg);
markerObj.setIcon(selectedImg);
footer.scrollTo(page);
//map.panTo(markerObj.position);
});
I read here that if I use the scrollTo method with a single parameter (the page index that I want to show), there will be a transition animation by default.
But nothing happens, I mean the page do change, but there no animation.
I searched on Kendo forum but the only topic I found is this one but it's the exact opposite of what I want : He want to delete the animation when I want to have it.
But that helps me kind of because it mean that having an animation is possible.
Does someone know the solution to this problem ?
Problem solved ! Sort of...
I tested many things by modifying the code of the KendoMobileScrollView and I found that the animation that is supposed to be displayed when you call the scrollTo method doesn't work with scrollview filled with a template.
So if someone encounter the same problem : you'll have to write a loop that will create the pages of your scrollview and insert it in the DOM.
Looks like this :
var htmlToAppen = "<div data-role=\"page\>"";
for(var i = 0 ; i < yourObjectsArray.length ; i++) {
var curObj = yourObjectsArray[i];
htmlToAppen += "<div> objName : " + curObj.name + "</div>";
htmlToAppen += "</div>";
}
$("#yourScrollDiv").append(htmlToAppend);
$("#yourScrollDiv").kendoMobileScrollView({
enablePager : false
});

How can I programmatically force sort on slickGrid with dataView?

I have a slickGrid which is using dataView to render student grades. I would like to default sort the grid prior to it being rendered by column with id = 0 and field = 'Student'. How can I trigger sort event on this column before the grid renders?
The reason why I want to do this is because I have a really strange bug that can be seen in this video:
http://screencast.com/t/Oz0vlcsQPp
The sorter works fine on the 1st asc/des sort but then it goes all out of whack. Noting is sorted the way it should be. However if I 1st sort by student name then the sorter on any other column works just fine without any issues no matter how many times I sort. If I refresh the page the problem happens again.
Since I cannot even begin to understand why is this happening my only hope is to initially fire a sort on the student column and bypass the problem all together.
NOTE: I am using the naturalSort.js from here: https://github.com/overset/javascript-natural-sort/blob/master/naturalSort.js. I don't think the sort is the issue since it works fine when I initially sort by student name... This one is breaking my brain...
EDIT: As you can see in the video my grid cell data looks something like "A (78.65%)". My data structure looks like this:
"Column_3":{"displayValue":"A (100%)","sortValue":100.0},
"Column_4":{"displayValue":"B (87.53%)","sortValue":87.53},
"Column_5":{"displayValue":"?","sortValue":-1.0}
I am sending over an object for sorting reasons in order to use percentage as a sorting criteria. In order to make this work I have defined dataItemColumnValueExtractor in grid options as such:
self.options["dataItemColumnValueExtractor"] = getItemColumnValue;
function getItemColumnValue(item, column) {
var values = item[column.field];
return values.displayValue !== undefined ? values.displayValue : values;
}
This allows me to use the sortValue data to sort the grid. Here is my sort event:
grid.onSort.subscribe(function(e, args){
var comparer = function(a, b) {
var result;
if (a[args.sortCol.field].sortValue !== undefined && a[args.sortCol.field].sortValue !== null && b[args.sortCol.field].sortValue !== undefined && b[args.sortCol.field].sortValue !== null) {
result = naturalSort(a[args.sortCol.field].sortValue,b[args.sortCol.field].sortValue);
}
else {
result = naturalSort(a[args.sortCol.field],b[args.sortCol.field]);
}
return result;
};
dataView.sort(comparer, args.sortAsc);
});
Bottom line is everything works fine except the above mentioned issue with sorting... Any help would be appreciated...
First of all...your issue for first time sorting is something else which can be fixed...
But if you want to sort a col on grid load you can trigger the click event....
$(function () {
for (var i = 0; i < 50000; i++) {
var d = (data[i] = {});
d["num"] = i;
.
.
d["effortDriven"] = (i % 5 == 0);
}
dataView = new Slick.Data.DataView();
grid = new Slick.Grid("#myGrid", dataView, columns, options);
$('.slick-header-columns').children().eq(2).trigger('click'); // eq(2) for the 3rd col
}

Programatically updating underlying data in Slickgrid

I have 6 textboxes at the top of the screen that update an entire column(one textbox per column) based on any changes. I was selecting the columns based on their class (.l#). Here is the code (issues to follow):
function UpdateField() {
var ctrl = this;
var id = parseInt(ctrl.id.replace("item", ""), 10) - 1;
var bound = [".l1", ".l7", ".l8", ".l9"];
var fields = $(bound[id]);
for (var i = 0; i < fields.length; i++)
{
fields[i].innerHTML = $(ctrl).val();
}
};
which is bound to the keyup event for the text areas. Issues are:
1) initially fields.length was -1 as I didn't want to put data in the "add new
row" section at the bottom. However, when running it, I noticed the
final "real" record wasn't being populated. Also, when stepping through, I
noticed that the "new row" field was before the "last row" field.
2) when doing it this way, it is purely superficial: if I double click the field,
the real data hasn't been changed.
so in the grand scheme of things, I know that I was doing it wrong. I'm assuming it involves updating the data and then forcing a render, but I'm not certain.
Figured out how to do it. Modified the original code this way:
function UpdateField() {
var ctrl = this;
var id = parseInt(ctrl.id.replace("item", ""), 10) - 1;
var bound = ['title1', 'title2', 'title3', 'title4'];
var field = bound[id];
for (var i = 0; i < dataView.getLength(); i++)
{
var item = dataView.getItem(i);
item[field] = $(ctrl).val();
dataView.updateItem(i, item);
}
grid.invalidate();
};
I have 6 textboxes (item1-item6) that "bind" to fields in the sense that if I change data in a textbox, it updates all of the rows and any new rows added also have this data.
Parts where the two issues can be explained this way:
1) to work around that, though still it would be a presentational fix and not a real updating of the underlying data, one could force it to ignore if it had the active class attached. Extra work, and not in the "real" direction one is going for (masking the field).
2) It was pretty obvious with the original implementation (though it was all I could figure out via Chrome Dev Tools that I could modify at the time) that it was merely updating a div's content and not actually interacting with the data underneath. Would look nice, and perhaps one could just pull data from the item1-item6 boxes in place of the column if it is submitted, but if someone attempts to modify the cell, they'll be looking at the real data again.

How to dynamically load carousel items in Sencha

I have a problem with my product view. I want to display product data. each product is a "box" with an image and text. I want to display six products on a panel. As of the fact that i have many products i want to have a "carousel like view". My idea was the following: Place 6 products on a panel. Load 3 panels and place each panel as a carousel item so that i can swipe to get to another "page".
To save performance I tried to always have only 3 items in the carousel. The active "page" and the page before, and the page after, so that I can swipe to left/right and the next page can be loaded.
I tried to put my logic in the "onActiveItemChange"-Listener of the carousel, but I had massive problems with adding/removing carousel items. So my Question is is it possible to do what i want to accomplish?
Is there a better alternative? Of course my data is in a store, but I don't want that standard list view.
Another Question: Because my first attempt with the carousel failed i tried to build a Ext.Container (card layout) with the panels on it. But how can I listen to a swipe event on a Panel???
thanks for help ;-)
Even I am doing the same, using carousel & a store. Every page of carousel is a view(panel) which would have 4/6 child views(panels). On store load I am creating those children and then divide them into pages and add those pages to carousel.
This is working fine for me and on activeItemChange I am loading more pages:
activeitemchange: function(container, value, oldValue, eOpts) {
var activeItemIndex = container.getActiveIndex();
var galleryTotal = container.getInnerItems() ? container.getInnerItems().length : 0;
if ((activeItemIndex + 1 == galleryTotal)) {
console.log("At last page, time to load");
var store = this.config.store;
store.nextPage({ addRecords: true });
}
}
I think I understand your issue. Assuming you've got 3 items and you're always viewing the middle one (as you move forward, item 0 gets destroyed and one item gets created). And assuming that each item has an id associated with its location in the list.
var current_item = Ext.getCmp('carousel_name').getActiveItem().getId();
current_item = Number(current_item.replace('item', ''));
//Objects to create
var next_item = current_item + 1;
var previous_item = current_item - 1;
//Objects to destroy
var next2_item = current_item + 2;
var previous2_item = current_item - 2;
//Create items
var createItem = function(item_location, type){
var carousel_item = create_content(item_location);
if(type == 'next'){
Ext.getCmp('carousel_name').add(carousel_item);
}else if(type == 'previous'){
Ext.getCmp('carousel_name').insert(0, carousel_item);
Ext.getCmp('carousel_name').setActiveItem(1);
}
}
createItem(next_item,'next');
createItem(previous_item,'previous');
//Destroy items
if(Ext.getCmp('item'+previous2_item)){
Ext.getCmp('carousel_name').getItems().items[0].destroy();//This is a hack, for some reason with the above commented out line, the item was getting destroyed but wasn't being removed from carousel_name
}
if(Ext.getCmp('item'+next2_item)){
Ext.getCmp('carousel_name').getItems().items[Ext.getCmp('carousel_name').getMaxItemIndex()].destroy();//This is a hack, consistency with previous destroy (above)
}
