Integrate spring with hibernate using maven dependencies - spring

I had made a project using Spring & Hibernate with maven as tool organiser.
Sometimes back it seems that the following version of hibernate was stopped/removed/something from all the repositories
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-annotations</artifactId>
<version>3.3.0.ga</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>cglib</groupId>
<artifactId>cglib</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-commons-annotations
</artifactId>
<version>3.3.0.ga</version>
</dependency>
So, I switched to following versions to resolve all the compilation related issues etc:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-annotations</artifactId>
<!--version>3.3.0.ga</version-->
<version>3.5.6-Final</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>cglib</groupId>
<artifactId>cglib</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-commons-annotations
</artifactId>
<version>3.3.0.ga</version>
<!--version>3.5.6-Final</version-->
</dependency>
Though al the compilation related issues got resolved, I am facing lot of problems trying to deploy the war file created using these hibernate versions and spring dependencies (though the war is getting generated successfully, while deployment Spring & hibernate are giving some errors).
Basically, I want to use the latest version of Spring & Hibernate and create a web application war file.
I would really appreciate if some one can list the set of spring & hibernate maven dependencies which are successfully available in all repositories along with the list of repositories to create a successful web application, preferably if you have successfully deployed and used that war.
These are the spring related dependencies and other dependencies I have used in my application:

Other technologies I am using :
EhCache, Solr, MySQL
The old setup used to work fantastically in my first computer but when I switched to new system (computer), all of a sudden lot of hibernate dependencies etc went missing and I did lot of trial & error resolving various dependencies for Spring & Hibernate.
I would really appreciate if some one can give me a sober solution so hat I can get my webapp back to working mode
I was working on some maven 2 version, but if I have to switch to maven 3 etc, I am ready for that too. I just need a solution which works end to end without the need to disturb my code.

An example with spring, hibernate, mysql, junit and jsp-oriented web application.

The main class of this module as-
#SpringBootApplication
#ImportResource({"gemfire-locator.xml"})
#EnableEncryptableProperties
public class LocatorApp {
public static void main(final String[] args) {
SpringApplication.run(LocatorApp.class, args);
}
}
I have defined configuration in application-local.properties file for this module as-
#spring.profiles.active=local
#spring.profiles.include=pulse.authentication.custom
spring.profiles.groups.local=pulse.authentication.custom
spring.application.name=gemfirelocator
server.hostname=#{T.........}
server.port=9020
gemfire.properties.location=/gemfire/gemfire-locator-local.properties
data.location=.
When I try to start this service, I get the following error-
Field optionalArgs in org.springframework.cloud.netflix.eureka.EurekaClientAutoConfiguration$RefreshableEurekaClientConfiguration required a bean of type 'com.netflix.discovery.AbstractDiscoveryClientOptionalArgs' in your configuration.
The injection point has following annotations:
#org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired(required=true)
I have tried to change and try with other versions of netflix-eureka-client and also I tried to remove many exclusions of dependencies in this pom.xml file but nothing helped to start my service which I am able to run with spring boot version 1.5.22.RELEASE.
How can I resolve this issue?
My problem is that web dependencies are missing .
You can add the following dependencies to you pom.xml file .
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-web</artifactId>
</dependency>

What all jars are required for Spring + jersey

I am wondering what all jars do I require to make Spring + Jersey work.
right now I had put the following jars in my buldpath.
Jersey-server-1.18
Spring 4.0.6
But my application does not seem to be working. what shall I use instead to make it work.
If you want to use Jersey Spring DI support you will need to add the jersey-spring3 module. This is configuration and corresponding jars from my test project. Few of them may be optional.

Recently i added the xuggle-xuggler:5.4 for video manipulation features. and upgraded most of the jar versions.Since then i am getting this error
Use mvn dependency:tree to see which version of slf4j maven decides to give you. If it has picked the wrong version, you could use a dependency management section to specify which version you want.
If the output of dependency:tree shows the correct version (i.e. a version which does contain the method it can't find), then add -verbose:class as a jvm argument to see where it is loading that class from (e.g. if deploying in jboss it might be loading it from its internal logging jars instead of your slf4j jars).
dependency:treeis a usefull tool that's true.
In addition, another way to fix it:
while using Eclipse IDE, use SHIFT + CTRL + T to open following type "SLF4JLocationAwareLog"
You should be able to find related library and so a potential conflict.
Switch to the dependency tree view of the pom.xml to know the exclusion to add.
In my case, was related to struts dependency jcl104-over-slf4j. I just exclude this one from the dependency:
<dependency>
<groupId>displaytag</groupId>
<artifactId>displaytag</artifactId>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.slf4j</groupId>
<artifactId>jcl104-over-slf4j</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
</dependency>
I had the same problem in a Gradle project.
The answers given here were useful. I just had to solve it in a Gradle way.
Here is my solution:
configurations.all {
all*.exclude group: 'org.slf4j', module: 'jcl104-over-slf4j'
}
I had the same problem when writing test cases while doing code refactoring in a Java 7 project. I fixed it by replacing the old logging imports by slf4j loggers
import org.slf4j.Logger;
import org.slf4j.LoggerFactory;
in addition to it my pom dependencies looked like-
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>servlet-api</artifactId>

Spring MVC - Why the NoSuchMethodError exception when deploying context?

Despite this project having worked for me for a while, I'm now getting an exception when I attempt to deploy my application context in Tomcat:
Servlet /testapp threw load() exception
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.springframework.core.convert.converter.ConverterRegistry.addConverter(Ljava/lang/Class;Ljava/lang/Class;Lorg/springframework/core/convert/converter/Converter;)V
at org.springframework.core.convert.support.DefaultConversionService.addScalarConverters(DefaultConversionService.java:62)
From what I've read, this can occur if there are multiple versions of Spring that are being compiled in the app. However, I've completely purged my local repository of dependencies to confirm that I have only the version I want in my build path. My dependencies are as follows:
<properties>
<java-version>1.6</java-version>
<org.springframework.version>3.1.0.RELEASE</org.springframework.version>
<project.build.sourceEncoding>UTF-8</project.build.sourceEncoding>
<project.reporting.outputEncoding>UTF-8</project.reporting.outputEncoding>
</properties>

I have no compiler errors in the Eclipse project and it builds perfectly, with no warnings or errors. However, Tomcat is marking my single test servlet is unavailable and when I tail the logs, the stacktrace above is my only hint.
Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. My experience with Spring and Spring MVC is minimal, so I'm hoping this is simply a newbie problem that has completely escaped me.
Thanks to #nickdos for offering up a tip. Changes to my pom.xml that initially caused me trouble were removed and purging my work directory brought me back to life. However, my initial problem was a result of conflicts introduced by including Jersey jars into my project.
My project was making use of Spring v3.x, but the Jersey jars were including a dependency on Spring 2.5, resulting in conflicts. To remedy this problem, I declared some exclusions as follows:
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.jersey</groupId>
<artifactId>jersey-server</artifactId>
<version>${com.sun.jersey.version}</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.jersey</groupId>
<artifactId>jersey-client</artifactId>
<version>${com.sun.jersey.version}</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.jersey</groupId>
<artifactId>jersey-json</artifactId>
<version>${com.sun.jersey.version}</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.jersey.contribs</groupId>
<artifactId>jersey-spring</artifactId>
<version>${com.sun.jersey.version}</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring</artifactId>
</exclusion>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-core</artifactId>
</exclusion>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-web</artifactId>
</exclusion>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-beans</artifactId>
</exclusion>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-context</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
</dependency>
The comment from #nickdos brought my project back up to speed without the inclusion of Jersey, and by declaring the exclusions, I now have support for both Spring MVC as well as Jersey REST support without the load() exception I was reporting before.
Thanks all!

Maven 3.0.2 - WAR File is duplicating dependant JARS in two places

When I run: "mvn package -skipTests" from the command line to create my WAR file, Maven copies my dependent jars into WEB-INF/lib, and then copies them again into the root of the WAR. So I end up with the same files in two different places. I've stripped my pom.xml down to the bare essentials, but the duplicates still occur.
