I've installed Visual Studio 2012 RC and tried to do some work on one of my 'work' projects. It seems to work but after showing some upgrade screens and a Source Safe Login box Visual Studio 2012 RC crashes silently.
So my question is, what is the source safe support of Visual Studio 2012.
Should it just work or could it be not supported? Any pointers to blogs and official release would be really appreciated
Visual SourceSafe is supported with Visual Studio 2012. Could you install the Visual Studio Feedback Tool (http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/f8a5aac8-0418-4f88-9d34-bdbe2c4cfe72) to send us details on this issue?
Install VS 11 Feedback tool
Restart VS
Help menu | Report a bug
Log in using your Live ID
Type = "Crash"
Enter a descriptive title
In the Description field, enumerate the exact minimal steps to reproduce the issue
Press "Record" button
Go through the steps to reproduce the crash on VS
Press "Stop Recording" button after the crash
Press "Submit" button
This will send a Connect bug to us which we can then review internally and follow up on. You will be able to communicate with us and see the actions taken on your bug via http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/[ConnectID] where the [ConnectID] will be given to you after step 10.
Thanks for reporting this issue.

I'm a new to SSIS development and I'm using a 64-bit computer on Windows 7. I wanted to change a script task, but when clicking on the 'Edit Script' button nothing happens.

I tried a new installation VS2012 and SSDT_BI2012, as suggested on different forums, but that doesn't fixed my issue.
If anyone had the same issue can you guide me to the resolution?
If you need additional information please let me know.
Thank you
I had the same problem. Here is what I did to fix this issue:
Go to the control panel and locate the instance of Visual Studio Tools for Applications (VSTA).
In your case you should look for something like "Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2012"
Right click on the VSTA component and select "Change"
In the next popup click "Repair"
In my case the problem was with Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2017:
Once I repaired this VSTA installation everything worked correctly.
I had the same problem. I tried to repair the Visual Studio with the installation, but it didn't work.
After, the solution that worked for me:
Install the SSDT in a new instance of Visual studio.
My Visual Studio taskbar previews are like this:
It is showing since the last boot, as Windows was crashed last time, and the latest extension I have installed is VSCommands, but I don't think that is causing the problem.
There is no other issue, btw. Can anyone help please?
OS: Windows Technical Preview Build 10074.
VS: Visual Studio Professional 2013 Update 4.
If you need any more info, let me know.
VSCommands changes the VS taskbar previews to show the solution, branch and current file name. The feature is called "Solution Badges" and can be disabled from the VSCommands options page.
I had a trial of Visual Studio 2010 running, but now I've run out of days. When I try to extend the trial it sends me to the Ultimate version for the key extension. I signed up there and everything and got a code, but when I insert it in Visual Studio 2010 it says the code is invalid.
How do I succesfully get a Professional trial key extension?
P.S. The site is also in Japanese for me, which makes it even more difficult.
You can get the correct key by doing the following:
Go to Control Panel -> (Un)Install software;
Browse to your Visual Studio 2010 install and click Remove/Change;
The Visual Studio Maintenance Mode Wizard will load, wait a little and click next when it's done;
On the bottom left of the window you will see a the "Extend Trial" option. When you click this link it will guide you to the correct website. Which is currently: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=133426
Sign up with your Microsoft account and apply for the trial extension;
Wait for the mail Microsoft sent you and use the provided key the extend your trial. (This code should work!)
I've installed Visual Studio 2013 for Web on my Windows 7 client. During the installation, I lost my network connection. At the end, it seems the installation succeeds. But I found no entry in the start menu of windows.
So, I want to repair / uninstall Visual Studio.
I started the Uninstaller via System Control and I have the two buttons "Repair" and "Uninstall". In both scenarios, the question "Are you sure you want to cancel the setup?". If i click "No", the previous screen with the two buttons is displayed, if I click "Yes", the uninstaller closes....
Edit:
I also re-run the installer, but the same question, with the same results appear.
How can I uninstall Visual Studio?
try to install visual studio 2013 it should ask uninstall/repair.
try it and see if its helps
I am trying to install Multi-Device Hybrid Apps extension on Visual Studio 2013 (Ultimate). But Installation got stuck when Android SDK being install. I have waited for 2 to 3 hours but it stuck there. I have cancelled the process and tried again but same issue.
Can anyone help me to fix this issue?
Thank you
I had a similar problem for Visual Studio 2015 RC1. The Android images take a long time to download, especially if you are downloading other things on the same network and have slow internet.
I found the AndroidSDK_SI.log file in %temp% and it shows it was actually still downloading even after 3 hours!
I believe the installer really needs to show better feedback. It seemed like the installer was hung, but it was actually downloading very slowly. Something as dirty as an option to read the currently running log file being in a text box would even help.
You can also kill the SecondaryInstaller.exe in Task Manager to stop the Android SDK sub-installer. You can then try fix it yourself or Repair Visual Studio if the install continues and completes.
Repair is available by right clicking on Visual Studio in the Microsoft Windows "Programs and Features" control panel section and clicking "Change". This will bring up a Visual Studio dialog where you can Modify or Repair the install.
