I am not sure how that "pin" (highlighted in the pic) came from. I don't have any extensions installed. Would be really interested to know how It came and what is its usage.
Looks like a pinned datatip to me

Visual Studio crashed on me and right after it started again something got changed. Now it greys out code that's currently not selected. How can I change that behavior? I haven't found the option, neither did I find a solution online.

I managed to solve this. The feature causing this behavior is called "focus dimmer" You can find the corrosponding options under Tools > Focus Dimmer.
For some reason nearly everything is simply white, I'd prefer the more varying colors based on like, what kind of thing you are typing. I just recently started so I don't know the terminology. I see a lot of Unity tutorials that have coloring like that. Thanks!
I'm using a cs file
I think what may work for u is this
Inside Visual Studio - go to Tools and scroll to Options
Text Editor
C# and then Advanced
and choose Visual Study 2019 under Editor Color Scheme
You may need to reload the project. In Solution Explorer it may state:
Assembly-CSharp (unloaded)
Right click this text and select Reload Project from the resulting context menu
I am having an issue within the razor view in Visual Studio 2012. For some reason, most of the time when I am trying to edit a style property, my keyboard freezes and doesn't allow me to type anything.
<section style="height: 15[Try to edit here]">
For instance, trying to add in a zero or 'px' where the "Try to edit here" has been placed above is impossible as the keyboard freezes.
I have ReSharper 7.1 installed, I'm not sure if that is the culprit?
Closing the tab and re-opening it fixes the issue, but it then re-occurs later on (not sure if there is a pattern as to when it re-occurs)
This happens to me often. I just switch tabs and come back and it doesn't happen(for sometime of course :-)). It could be some kind of unresolvable bug although i would suggest that you uninstall ReSharper and try again to see if it gets fixed.
It happens to me and my other colleagues as well.
I have found it to be linked to having a floating code window(s). Unlike the floating window for something like Find Results (without a title bar), these appear almost like another instance of Visual Studio. These do not come to the front when the main Visual Studio Window is selected. I have found the keyboard stops responding only on these windows if there is a Find Results kind of floating window open. When the problem occurs, clicking on another VS window and come back sorts it.
In earlier versions of VS, any pulled code windows appeared without a thick title bar and window controls box.
I tried posting images of the two kinds of floating windows but don't have enough reputation to do so! Let me know if it is confusing and I'll try to clarify.
This may not be the only way for this problem to occur but this is what I've observed consistently in the last few weeks of using Visual Studio 2012. I have C# environment settings with Resharper 7 and Reflector installed.
I hear that Visual Studio 2010 has "Multi-Monitor Support". Yet now that I am using it, I see no difference from VS2008.
I still have to resize all my windows when switching from one monitor to two and back again.
Is there somekind of Profile or setting I am missing? For example, Delphi lets you save desktop profiles that record where you like specific windows. Switching from single to dual monitors is as simple as selecting a different desktop profile.
Is there something similar in VS2010 that I am missing?
Multi-monitor support refers to the ability for you to undock a code window and drag it to another monitor. Try dragging on the tab of a code window into your other monitor.
ScottGu has an excellent blog post on this subject
http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2009/08/31/multi-monitor-support-vs-2010-and-net-4-series.aspx
Just drag the editor tabs out and onto your other monitor and witness the glory.
In VS2008 you could detach things like the solution explorer and put them onto a different monitor, but source code pages were forced to stay on one monitor.
I've finally joined the 21st century and got a second monitor. I can merrily undock all the side windows (Solution Explorer, ToolBox etc) and plonk them anywhere I like on either monitor. I can't though figure out how to undock a code window. Is it possible? (I'm using vs2008).
Multi monitor is a key functionality of the new vs 2010 as was requested by a lot of devs.
Actually there is a way to do that.
You just need to install a FREE addon from Exact Magic named StudioTools
It has this feature called "Tear Off Editor Window".
You just activate the tab you want to tear off and from the StudioTools manu select Tear Off Editor.
I also strongly recommend you check out the rest of the features, especially the "Smart Goto" which rocks!
Just for you (VS2010) ;-p
You could resize Visual Studio to cover both monitors, then right-click the code window and click New Vertical Tab Group
The "Tear Off Editor Window" feature in Studio Tools from Exact Magic is I think the only option if can't just extend the application over your monitors, if you have multiple monitors of different sizes or a mix of portrait and landscape orientation.
However you cannot download Studio Tools from the original site as they were bought by another company who no longer support the software. You can download it from the the Wayback Machine: Studio Tools Download Link
