I'm able to set session var's & get them too. BUT, the documentation for cherrypy.lib.cptools.SessionAuth is too cryptic for me to get anything out of it. I tried some things in code, but it either resulted in errors or blank pages. The tutorial on the site doesn't get into session auth. I did find an old tutorial about making a blog in CherryPy 2.x, but that seems a bit outdated to work with CherryPy 3.2.2. Can anyone point me to a real tutorial for this or give a code example so I can see how to make it work? I really don't know where else to look or ask, and this is gettin' frustrating.
I use this version of authentication. Works well for me...

I want to create a share button for Linkedin, the GUI button is all set up, but it doesn't work when clicking it. I researched a bit and came to the conclusion that using the same sharing mechanism, other sites work but mine doesn't.
I narrowed the problem down and now I'm trying to figure out why google.com works but my site doesn't. I don't use my real company website because it's personal information, but it's a website that has been on the internet for more than 10 years (in case this information is useful). When I go to the links, my website throws an error, but Google works fine.
〇 https://www.linkedin.com/cws/share/?url=https://www.google.com
Is there any pre-requisite I'm missing, which makes my site not work?
I realized my server was blocking Linkedin (to reduce traffic from Linkedin bots). That's why it wasn't working.
As hint: I was working on closed webpage (for outside users) and that also causing problems with Linkedin share button.
Hint 2: Website uses Lets Encrypt! SSL and information mentioned here is a fake news https://wordpress.org/support/topic/linkedin-share-button-not-working-3/ Work's fine!
If you ever get stuck on trying to figure out why your page simply doesn't populate nice preview data on your LinkedIn share page, then check out the LinkedIn Post Inspector.
Insert the URL of your page (i.e., example.com), not the URL you are using to share (i.e., linkedin.com/share?url=example.com). You'll get detailed information on how your site will appear and why, like, for instance, sharing wikipedia.org...
Hope this helps someone else with a LinkedIn share issue!
I'm at the end of my rope here and I'm here to get some help. I'm going to try and explain it as best as I can.
I have a website running on Joomla 3.7.2 which you can visit here: https://www.meteordesign.nl
For some reason my contact form does not work anymore. Whenever I click 'send' the page reloads but no confirmation or an email being sent.
I have tried the following:
Switched from PHP mail to SMTP and send a test mail (came in fine).
Used several other contact form modules and components and even an HTML one which you can find here https://bootstrapious.com/p/bootstrap-recaptcha
They all don't work. I have tried disabling my .htaccess file to see if that solved it but to no avail.
You can find the contact form here:
https://www.meteordesign.nl/contact
I don't know if this is important but recently my hosting provider switched to https. Could that be causing it?
I hope I explained it well. If not feel free to ask me more questions, I really need your help fixing this!
So I finally figured it out...
The problem was the cache settings on Joomla at Global configuration > System > System Cache. I had it on Progressive and after setting it to Conservative my contact form worked again!
You are likely running into a JavaScript issue. Just tested this and you seem that you have solved it. Please let us know what the issue was so that others can learn from your experience.
I've been devolving several Magento modules on a Mac's local Apache server. Lately, I've moved the modules to a new Magento install on a new server. My problem is that all but one is 404-ing when I'm trying to load their admin pages. I can't find any reason why this one module works and the others don't even try to load pages. Most if the code is very similar from one to the next. Also, the 404 pages are not helpful and there are no exception or log entries to help me. These all work on the old server, and although some of the code has bad/old links that need to be fixed, and those generate errors I see no reason they aren't trying to load pages and generating errors.
I think the configs work, because I get the admin menu. Since the layouts have nothing concerning the front part of URL's, I see no reason for the problem to be them, either. I could post code, but I have no idea what to post that could be causing this.
I would greatly appreciate any insight that could be causing this.
When i devolve modules on windows and send to Linux, sometimes forget and make some thing on capital letter and others on lowcase, windows isn't case sensitive on this case, but linux is. maybe is the same on Macs / Linux
I'm building my first web app, and I've got all these crazy ideas on ways I could handle things like logins/sessions, but I was wondering if anyone has written a really good, thorough description of how logins/sessions work. I've seen tutorials, but I want to know if theres something more abstract that gives the reader a more general idea of how the whole process is handled. My web app is in ruby/sinatra if that's relevant.
Most of the in-depth tutorials for login/authentication from scratch are for Rails unfortunately. I went through the same trouble trying to find Sinatra specific tutorials. I would recommend just checking out the rails oriented tutorials since the knowledge is pretty general and can be applied to Sinatra as well.
These guides from RailsGuides are pretty good for getting an understanding of authentication even though they are Rails specific (read the section on security especially):
http://guides.rubyonrails.org/
Here's an example of a good Sinatra authentication scheme on github (it uses the datamapper gem, but you can easily replace this with any other Ruby ORM):
https://github.com/daddz/sinatra-dm-login
If you aren't as interested in rolling your own, you can also try the sinatra-authentication gem:

I'm making a website using Facebook Connect and decided to use Facebook's XFBML tags like "fb:profile-pic" since they are so easy to use.
I haven't been able to make them work no matter how hard I look online but then I noticed that it worked on all the browser's instead of Firefox.
I also realized that even on Facebook's own "The Run Around" sample app they don't work!! You can check it out here: http://www.somethingtoputhere.com/therunaround/index.php
If you log in with Firefox your picture is not shown, but if you use another browser it is shown. This happens with the fb:profile-pic tag or any other tag like fb:name.
I haven't found any information online so I'm asking other people that have worked with this: Are these tags simply not compatible with Firefox ? Do they have outages or something like that ? Has this happened to anyone before ? Any ideas on how to resolve this ?
I guess they do have "outages". I've spent the whole weekend trying to resolve this and now they post they had a problem and have resolved it.
From the Platform Live Status website:
http://developers.facebook.com/live_status.php#msg_497
We are experiencing a possible config
problem with api.connect.facebook.com.
If you are including Connect JS
library through
http://static.ak.connect.facebook.com/js/api_lib/v0.4/FeatureLoader.js.php,
all API requests through JavaScript
would fail. This affects rendering of
XFBML tags (such as fb:name and
fb:profile-pic) as well. While we are
fixing this issue, you can work around
the problem by changing
http://static.ak.connect.facebook.com/js/api_lib/v0.4/FeatureLoader.js.php
to
http://static.ak.facebook.com/js/api_lib/v0.4/FeatureLoader.js.php.
It's also safe to keep url change
permanently because
connect.facebook.com is just an alias
to facebook.com.
I wish they had updated that sooner, now I'm looking for a place to find out about this stuff before I spend days working on something before realizing it's not a problem with my code!
Open up Firefox > Preferences > Privacy and make sure "Accept third party cookies" is checked. This is needed for Facebook Connect to work. Also, when using Connect, make sure all your tags are fully closed, i.e. <fb:profile-pic></fb:profile-pic> and not <fb:profile-pic/>. From the docs:
The user's browser must be set to
accept 3rd Party Cookies in order for
it to stay connected between clicks.
Source: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Logging_In_And_Connecting
FWIW, I wouldn't use "the run around" as a sample app. That thing has been the same since they introduced Connect and is pretty hacky.
do check in connect section under the canvas option.
there should be a link of your physical file.
