Two Xcode app icons in launchpad after 4.5 install - xcode

After updating Xcode via App Store, I now have 2 Xcode apps in my launchpad. I can delete the new one by holding my mouse button down and clicking the x that appears, but only for the new one.

The easiest way to fix this is to head to your applications folder, (Using the menu bar, not a dock folder) and manually moving Xcode to your trash. After that, open launchpad and let it update. Both Xcodes will be gone. Then open your trash and right click Xcode, select Put Back. Voila, you fixed your problem and didn't even have to re-download!

If moving the app to trash and back does not solve the problem, try this command in the Terminal before you move the app back from the trash:
killall Dock

Run command in terminal will reset launchpad, it works for me
defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true; killall Dock
NOTE: This will reset arrangement of you apps order by alphabetic.

When I open Xcode, it surely opens, but its not showing any windows. Is it normal?

So, it's a simple question. When i try to open Xcode via macOS Dock, there is a dot bottom of the app icon, but it isn't opening any windows. So I have to open the window by clicking File > Open...
If it isn't normal, then please tell me how to fix it.
I have never seen or had this issue, but I did find this source: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3854586
"In Xcode 4 choose Window > Welcome (or command - shift - 1) to Xcode to open the welcome window that gives you an option to create a new Xcode project. Select the Show this window when Xcode launches checkbox to have the welcome window open when you launch Xcode."

Visual Studio Code can't open a folder on MacOS

so I wanted to switch between projects in VSC on my MacBook Air (macOS Monterey) so, like usual, I went for a top bar, selected File, chose Open Folder. But then the Finder window that was prompted stopped responding for my touchpad clicks. It does respond when I try to crawl through folders with my keyboard but at the end I can't choose the folder to open. Any advice?
I'm also experiencing the same issue on my M1 Mac on OS Monterey 20.6 in other applications as well as VS Code. The only solution I found is the workaround posted here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253580300
Simply adjust the Finder window size by hovering the mouse over the corner/edge of the window then click & drag. This then makes the Finder window responsive to mouse clicks.

How to solve XCode swipe gesture to go to previous / next file freeze editor?

Since this morning I'm facing a really annoying bug in XCode 5 on Mavericks :
I'm heavily used to swipe from left to right with two fingers on the MacBook trackpad to go to the XCode editor previous / next files.
BUT, now, doing this totally freeze the editor after having just moved for something like 5 px.
After that I have to close XCode and reopen it to make the editor work again.
Pressing the previous / next button works wel since it doesn't trigger this buggy animation.
Did anyone had this problem before or has any clue to solve it ?
In fact this problem is affecting other swipe gesture like the previous / next swipe in Safari.
I found a way to fix this on Apple Support Forum, by resetting the NVRAM.
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: cmd ⌘alt ⌥PR. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in next step.
Turn on the computer and immediately press and hold the cmd ⌘alt ⌥PR keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
When your Mac finishes starting up, you might want to open System Preferences and adjust settings that have been reset, such as sound volume, display resolution, startup disk selection, or time zone.

For me, in Xcode 8.3.3 and Xcode 9, it started working after
Go to the system preferences
Go to Trackpad
Select and deselect "Tap to click"

Opening terminal window in a specific folder in mac os x

Does anyone know the easy way of opening the terminal window in a specific path, it is so annoying to keep changing the path as needed very frequently during development.
Drag the folder from Finder onto Terminal's dock icon. Use "New Tab" (Cmd+T) from within Terminal if you need another session with the same current folder.
Try this little application:

You can select finder sidebar items, select file/folders to open the directory in Terminal. This is a really handy tool if you're a developer on Mac.

Dock icon in Mountain Lion disappears for open app

This is a perplexing issue: a program icon for a RUNNING program disappears from my Mountain Lion (10.8.1) Dock once the documents it was displaying are closed.
The offending App is TextEdit, although I suspect this will also happen in other apps. I'll be editing a text file, then close the window using the red "x" button in the top left, and as expected the window will close and the TextEdit icon will remain in the Dock with the little blue dot underneath. But wait a few seconds, and the Dock icon disappears!
I know that it's still running, because I can see the process in Activity Monitor. So what gives? Does anyone know how to make running applications remain in the Dock?
Thanks in advance.
Try to reset the dock using any one of the below procedures.
1.Open terminal and type
defaults delete com.apple.dock
killall Dock
OR
rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.{db,plist}
killall Dock
Hope this helps you.
