Integrating spring-data into existing spring project - spring

I am trying to integrate spring data into my project.
While trying to do so i needed to upgrade many of my maven artifacts because of version collisions. (for example i needed to upgrade spring from 3.0.3 to 3.1.3 because of slf4j collisions).
I needed to upgrade Hibernate from 3.5 to 4
Now when i am trying to deploy my project into tomcat i get the following exception:
org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'org.springframework.dao.annotation.PersistenceExceptionTranslationPostProcessor#0' defined in ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/marketplace-persist-config.xml]: Initialization of bean failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'entityManagerFactory' defined in ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/marketplace-persist-config.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.hibernate.cfg.Configuration.addAnnotatedClass(Ljava/lang/Class;)Lorg/hibernate/cfg/Configuration;

I found that Springs JPA entity manager does not come with an implementation to the HibernateExceptionTranslater and it is needed to add it manually.
I added it but i still get the above exception

Spring / Hibernate + H2: Could not configure JTA Platform

When trying to use Spring 4.1.6.FINAL and Hibernate I receive the following error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Could not configure JTA platform.
I have not added any code to my Spring application which injects or calls anything related to the hibernate context, the error occurs simply when I include the "spring-orm" artifactId (also 4.1.6.FINAL) in my pom.xml file. I have tried with and without configuration in the application context spring-config.xml, but always receive the same Exception.
I want to initialize an embedded H2 Database.

Spring mvc and spring security version conflict

Anybody knows if spring mvc version 4.1.3.RELEASE is working with spring security version 4.0.0.RC1?
I'm using java configuration with no xml at all(not even web.xml).
I can't get it working? Any help is welcome.
Thanks
According to spring docs so: Spring Security builds against Spring Framework 4.1.3.RELEASE.
And to get it work, your pom.xml should be like this one:

xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"

You cannot mix Struts 2 versions like that; you are using Struts 2.1.8.1 and trying to use the Struts 2 Tiles Plugin version 2.3.4 (and Spring Plugin 2.1.8) and a few different versions of Spring.
You must not arbitrarily pick and choose versions; this is one thing Maven is for: allowing versions to specify their own dependencies instead of trying to guess which versions are compatible.
First, use the same version of every Struts 2 artifact.
Second, do the same with Spring. You should not, however, need to specify the Spring versions if you're using the Struts 2 Spring plugin, since it will declare its own dependencies.
Once you start mixing and matching you'll often need to start specifying a lot of exclusions across various artifacts. Unless you're very aware of what you're doing, it's best not to do this.

The error I am getting is Cannot find class [org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.annotation.AnnotationSessionFactoryBean
I have spring orm 3.1.2 jar file in my path then also I am getting this error.
Please help me in resolving this issue.
Thanks in advance.
I am able to resolve this issue by using maven command 'maven clean' before 'maven compile','maven eclipse:eclipse' and maven war:war.
So now application is running fine on tomcat embedded in eclipse. Earlier my application was running only on standalone tomcat when I was deploying war created by maven.

Maven project with Spring Social framework and Jersey

I want to implement an Maven project which use Spring social framework integrated with Jersey. But it has some dependency problem.
I think it is because I missed some exclusion in the jersey spring. Can someone kindly help me?
The pom.xml is:

I had the same issue and in my case, adding AOP dependency helped. I guess it's needed for certain parts of Spring security.
Try adding:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-aop</artifactId>
<version>3.1.0.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>
