MvcMiniProfiler.dll vs MiniProfiler.dll - visual-studio

In a C# prject, What is the difference between MvcMiniProfiler.dll (version 1.7) and MiniProfiler.dll (2.1) ?

They are both the same thing, MiniProfiler.dll (2.1) is the latest version. The project got renamed from MvcMiniProfiler to just MiniProfiler around the 2.0 time; because it is also usable on Ruby now (i.e. it's not just an 'mvc' profiler anymore).
See here, specifically the section "No longer MVCMiniProfiler"

Sitecore 8.1: Glass.Mapper & Razor

Running a new site on Sitecore 8.1 - installed and setup Glass.Mapper but I cannot use calls such as #RenderImage - it's complaining that i'm missing the reference to Glass.Mapper.Sc.Mvc, which I have already.
The following are the Nuget modules installed for Glass.Mapper:
BoC.Glass.Mapper
BoC.Glass.Mapper.Sc
BoC.Glass.Mapper.Sc.CastleWindsor
Castle Windsor
Castle.Core
Glass.Mapper.Sc
I have it installed on another instance of Sitecore (7.5) - an older version of Glass.Mapper, but I've noticed that the Nuget packages do not exist anymore.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Dan
BoC.Glass.Mapper is a fork of Glass Mapper, and I believe it has not been updated to V4. Remove it (and any configs that it added or deployed) and start again I say. Just add the Glass.Mapper.Sc nuget package will add in the correct dependencies and is compatible with Sitecore 8.1.
Just to be doubly sure, this is the correct version: https://www.nuget.org/packages/Glass.Mapper.Sc/
Make sure you have Sitecore.Kernel and System.Web.Mvc referenced in your project since there is a post-install step in the nuget package that adds the correct versions of Glass dlls to your project.
To make things simpler V4 uses a Powershell script to decided which
references to add to your project, it checks both the Sitecore.Kernel
version and the System.Web.Mvc version and then installs the
appropriate Glass.Mapper.Sc and Glass.Mapper.Sc.Mvc assembly.
With regards to #RenderImage, either inherit your view from GlassView<> or better to use the extension methods, e.g. #Html.Glass().RenderImage().

How to upgrade codeigniter from version 1.0 to current version?

How to upgrade codeigniter from version 1.0 to recent version?
I have downloaded the recent version of codeigniter and have a sample project which is written in version 1.0. When i try to run it. I am receiving various kinds of errors for using deprecated functions.
You would have to go through http://ellislab.com/codeigniter/user-guide/installation/upgrading.html and make appropriate changes.
Alternatively, you can just battle the errors as they come up until they're all gone.
It might be easier to just re-write the thing.

Rails 1.9.3 Syntax Highlighting in Eclipse

I'm new to Rails and need to get my Eclipse DLTK highlighting working.
It is occasionally giving syntax error, unexpected ':' for hash colon notation. Though the application runs fine.
I'm using Eclipse Indigo and the Ruby Development Tools.
So, unfortunately, this is still an issue in Eclipse, and it's driving me crazy.
Both the Eclipse DLTK project (for both Indigo and Juno) and the Aptana Studio plugin for Eclipse -- all have this issue.
Here's the relevant bugs, still open and unaddressed:
1) https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=386350
2) http://jira.appcelerator.org/browse/APSTUD-4405
It's enough to make me overcome the usual switching IDE inertia, so I'm currently evaluating RubyMine (it does not have that syntax error problem, as I just tested, and is an excellent Ruby IDE from everything I've been able to read).
[edit] For what it's worth, I also just submitted a patch for this issue on the dltk.ruby github repo.
As of today, I like Idodds answer best: use DLTK 5.0 which appears to be the only option both (modestly) maintained and (modestly) functional. I had to crawl through some nasty internets to find the answer to "how to actually install DLTK 5.0" since all the search results send you to update sites which gives you DLTK 2.0 at best. I finally found this, which was the best I encountered for getting 5.0 on newer eclipse luna (newer than Kepler which Idodds detailed):
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/dltk/updates-dev/5.0/
When I used that update site (and de-selected "show in groups" since they've misconfigured this plugin). Then I just selected the two options I wanted: "Ruby Development Tools" and "Ruby Development Tools SDK" (which in turn required the core plugin). PLEASE NOTE: I also made very sure to confirm the "Version" looked something like "5.*" which it did in this site (and definitely did not in the others).
PostScript: the other two:
RDT: I've been using RDT for almost a year now with ~0 success. it does a modest job of syntax highlighting, but it does a comprehensive job of crash-and-burning on ruby 1.9 syntax. I wish internet/google would flag RDT as deprecated: a plugin which supports ruby 1.8 and prior really should not be listed in current "ruby" search results.
Aptana gets some very good press, and some very bad press. I should try it, since I need Rails not just ruby, but the bad press seems pretty comprehensive, so I've avoided it. I tried a few times and failed, but of course any non-java eclipse plugin will probably take a few days to make work.
This seems to be mostly resolved now. The main problem I encountered was with the new hash key syntax.
With Eclipse Kepler and DLTK 5.0 there are less errors. The syntax checker seems strict, but now works.
Using the Kepler release make sure you add the following as a Repository in "Install New Software":
http://download.eclipse.org/releases/kepler
Then install DLTK 5.0. The repositories that come bundled with Kepler don't seem to refer to the latest DLTK version which is why this issue looks like its not fixed.

Where can I get the latest Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.DLL?

I'm trying to use the latest Exchange Web Services DLL, however when I search my hard drive I see many versions of Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.DLL, the most recent being version 14.0.650.7 with a date of 1/24/12.
I want to rebuild my machine but can't find an official place to get this DLL. I attempted to download the latest SDK I don't see any DLL to use, nor is there any CHM for me to use.
Where can I get the latest version of Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.DLL?
Current version of the EWS Managed API is 1.2. It seems that Microsoft sometimes forgets to update links to the newest download which makes it hard to find out what the newest version is but I usually go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and search for "Exchange Web Services Managed API" whenever I need a fresh download.
UPDATE:
EWS is on NuGet:
http://www.nuget.org/packages?q=EWS
This is an old question, and the two answers by the OP and #JakobChristensen do answer the question. I'll just mention that I'm finding the situation fairly confusing.
I recently (manually, not via NuGet) downloaded the current NuGet version, which they currently call "2.2.0".
https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices/
But the internal file/product version on the .dll is 15.00.0913.015.
According to this page
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn528373(v=exchg.150).aspx
the file should be placed here:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange\Web Services\2.0\
So that's where I placed it. Later, when playing around with a Microsoft sample program I noted that it did indeed reference the file at that location.
But another Microsoft sample program referenced the file in the GAC!
C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices\15.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.dll
This version had file/product version 15.00.0847.030.
I'm not sure how that file got there, probably part of a Visual Studio installation.
There's also something called EWSCore, which is apparently a forked version of the official EWS with some bug fixes.
https://www.nuget.org/packages/EWSCore/
My current decision is that I'll consider the official NuGet version to be the version I'll standardize on, and manually download it to my development PC and my build PC and place it here:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange\Web Services\2.0\
Options
If you use .net framework, there is a nuget package "Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices 2.2.0" here https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices
If you use .netstandard/.net5+, you need to go the Github open source project "OfficeDev /
ews-managed-api" here https://github.com/OfficeDev/ews-managed-api , and there you download the code, and compile it. However, this project is targeting .net3.5. So, you need to convert/upgrade it to .netstandard/.net5+ manually and compile it for your self.
!! Update !!: I took the version as of date of this post from GitHub. Replaced Old Style project with SDK project. Target framework set to netstandard2.0. Added packages System.DirectoryServicesandSystem.Security.Cryptography.Xml. In files, I had to remove few namespaces that not compatible, but were not used. Removed AsImageinPhoto, this is public image retrieving method, not needed - it only converts byte array. And fixed loading issue with Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetTypes();`
Type[] types;
try
{
types = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetTypes();
}
catch (ReflectionTypeLoadException ex)
{
types = ex.Types.Where(t => t != null).ToArray();
}
I also deleted or excluded from project bunch of files related to documentation, fxcop, and assembly info.
And then it worked for sending emails with different API versions. Reading emails is not tested yet.
There is a third option. Nuget has a package "Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.NETStandard 2.0.0-beta3" But this is not an official Microsoft code. https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.NETStandard/2.0.0-beta3
!! Update !!: Got this version and compared to the original code in option #2. This code has more changes than necessary to convert to .netstandard. It has some async stuff added.

Is it possible to use WatiN 2.1 with MvcContrib.WatiN?

With WatiN 1.3, the IE object constructor throws an exception on my machine. See this question.
WatiN 2.1 doesn't have the same issue. However, I'm using MvcContrib.WatiN which appears to depend on WatiN 1.3. Is it possible to use WatiN 2.1 instead of 1.3 with MvcContrib? If so, how? WatiN 1.3 is a very old version.
Not with the current MvcContrib version. But since it's open source you can always do the leg work yourself to make it work. You'll have to get the latest MvcContrib source code here and modify the WatiN.Core reference on the MvcContrib.TestHelper.WatiN project to use the WatiN.Core.dll v2.1. Then recompile MvcContrib.TestHelper.WatiN (use this new compiled dll in your project).
One caveat: You'll have to rework JavaScriptExecutor.GetWindow() a bit (within the MvcContrib.TestHelper.WatiN namespace) to be able to recompile it. WatiN 2.1 does not have the HtmlDocument class in Document anymore (not sure where that logic went to).
