FTP Error - Permission issue? - ftp

I was doing a complete redesign of a website for a client and everything was going fine until I went to ftp it. The login and password that he gave me works fine, but when I try to upload the files an error message pops up saying:
An FTP error occurred - cannot create new folder. Access denied. The file may not exist or there could be a permission problem. Make sure you have proper authorization on the server and the server is properly configured.
I can see the files that are already on the server, so I know I'm connected fine, but how do I get this website online? Do I contact the previous coder of the website to make the files writable? Or is the problem elsewhere?
Any help would be appreciated!

A hosting service may require you to place all files to /www for example and deny access to anything else. You may try to reset user rights via that webhost's web interface. If the service allows for some ssh access, you can try using that to see where your problem is. If SFTP works, even better, you can use just that instead.

Internal Server Error with WAMP after being prompted for username and password

I have been using WAMP for awhile now to create a database, and everything has been working fine. However, I am now helping with a new project and have been sent a new folder for this project. I placed it in my www folder within WAMP, and when I opened localhost/project_name I was prompted for a username and password. I did not know (and still do not) the username and password, so I tried a guess and now I get the following error:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator at wampserver#wampserver.invalid to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache/2.4.46 (Win64) PHP/7.3.21 Server at localhost Port 80
I have tried searching online and every solution focuses on the mod_rewrite line in the httpd.config file. However, I have already uncommented that line and WAMP continues to work for my original project. I have tried resetting WAMP and loading the new project, but I am never prompted for a username and password and only the above error appears. How can I fix this to be able to try a different username and password?

Magento Admin Login Error

Please Help. Have been stuck for days.
I've been trying to connect to Magento Admin. The website itself is working fine. I've tried logging in and each time I'd get this message:
Network Error (tcp_error)
A communication error occurred: "Operation timed out"
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.
For assistance, contact your network support team.
I've tried the following:
Deleted all the files inside /var/cache folder.
Sudo reboot
I read that I need to also delete maintenance.flag file in my root folder. I can't find this file anywhere.
Please help.
Thanks a bunch!!

Basic authentication on IIS 7.5

I'm trying to run a simple ASP.NET application with basic authentication on an IIS server. Interestingly, the authentication works fine on almost all servers except my production server. When I deploy the application on that machine, it keeps prompting me over and over for the credentials. Unfortunately, it is a lab machine that I don't have access to and I'm not able to view the logs either.
It's an IIS 7.5 server running on a Windows 2008 VM server I guess, and the content folder (where the default app is pointing to) is on shared with us (we have write access to that folder and that's how we are deploying our applications).
Outside authentication settings on the server, what other things could be causing the issue? Please advise.
Most probably this is a access permission to resources used by the web application.
The reason you see this repeatedly login prompt is that the account doesn't have the needed permissions.
First you have to determine if you are using impersonation or not.
If you do impersonate, the authenticated accounts need the necessary permissions.
If you don't impersonate, the application pool account needs the necessary permissions.
So what's the needed permissions?
Well, that could be a lot of things, and we don't know the details of your application.
Do you connect to a database?
Then you have to make sure that current account context has the right permissions to connect to the DB.
Do you read images/files from disk?
Then you have to make sure that current account context has the right permissions to access those resources.
If it is file resources that you are accessing, I would recommend you to use Fiddler and determine which path(s) you'll need to address. It will tell you by those 404 errors.
EDIT: Make sure that your app pool account has the needed permissions for this DLL you mention. Where does it fetch this list from? Is it static in the DLL? Where's this DLL located?
Please also check the event logs on the server for any related errors at the time you try to logon.

Server running Microsoft CRM cannot connect, but every other machine on network can

I have an annoying problem.
On every machine on the network, browsing to our internal MS CRM URL works fine. However, if I log into the actual server itself and try to connect the same credentials just do not work. I get this error:
HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.
I can't figure it out. They're on the same domain, everything should be fine. It's a big problem because there is an application running on the server that needs to connect to the CRM webservice - and fails.
Even with Basic Auth, I enter the username and password and it fails.
Any ideas?
You might be hitting the loopback security check. Read this KB article to see if you are, and how to disable it so things will work: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;896861
