Knockout: Scrolling to one of newly inserted elements - ajax

So I have an asynchronous call to a controller in c# to obtain say 100 objects.
After this is done I load it into my html page and through a parameter in the link I intend to scroll to it.
So for instance: localhost/page.aspx?scrollToId=85
I do this as follows:

This works when I have static elements but because of the asynchronous call the dom is loaded way later and it doesnt scroll to it. (It does fade out and in again).
I have been looking at the afterRender method of knockout itself but this too didn't give any change.
Is there a way to wait for the actual dom to render all elements and only after this is done, scroll to it?

The issue was actually that afterRender only works on templates. I moved my view to a template then afterRender works.

Reload javascript after thymeleaf fragment render

I have javascript files defined in the <head> of both my layout decorator template and my individual pages which are decorated. When I update a thymeleaf fragment in one of my pages the javascript defined in the head of the parent page no longer works. Is there a standard way to 'refresh' these js files?

Additional clarification :
I have a form submitted by an ajax call which updates a table in the page. I have a Jquery onClick function targeting a button in the updated table. The javascript doesn't seem able to bind to the returned elements in the updated part of the page. I select by element class and can see that the selection works prior to the partial fragment render.
For me it is unclear what you mean by
javascript defined in the head of the parent page no longer works.
The page is created on the server. Normally it contains urls of the javascript files

In this case 'refreshing' the javascript files can happen only in the client.
Check the html of the page in the client.
Are the tags as expected ?
Are there tags for all expected javascript files ?
With the browser tools (for example Google Chrom developer tools ) check that all script files are actually loaded.
If this doesnt help, it could be that the order of the script tags has changed between the first and second load. This could cause a different behaviour of the javascript executed in the browser.
EDIT :
With the initial load you bind javascript callbacks to dom elements.
You do this directly or through Jquery or other libraries.
When a new dom element is loaded, it has no callbacks bound to it, even if it has the same id as a replaced dom element.
So after the load you have to bind your callbacks again.
If you bound them 'by hand', just bind it again.
If you are using a JQuery plugin, that made the bindings, look into the code or documentation, many of them have a function for that or you can call initialization again.
Once you added new content to the DOM you need to bind again the new content.
Let's say I have a button with some class, the event in binded to the class:

If I add more buttons from the same class to the DOM, they will have not have the click event binded. So once you load the new content via ajax, also remove all binding and add again (you need to remove or you will have buttons with 2 events).

Ember.js and Isotope.js - Executing Javascript after all childviews became rendered

I use Ember.js (1.0. RC) and would like to apply Isotope.js's functionality to some of my views located in a "container".
So my route basically loads the models containing the needed data from a server, sets up the controller's content and binds it to the model's data, which works fine.
Next I declared a template for my IndexRoute which iterates over all the loaded items like this:

The items are the images that should be filtered with isotope.js. ItemView only refers to a simple template for the time being.
The execution chain is the following: Route -> Fetching model data -> Set up controllers -> Create IndexView -> Pile up all the ItemViews in a DIV-container.
Now I need to check whether all the ItemViews are loaded and the rendering is finally finished to apply isotope.js's filtering functionality but I can't figure out how to do that.
The didInsertElement of the IndexView event fires as soon as it's been rendered and before the ItemViews were added to the DOM.
I already tried to set up a ContainerView which would work in conjunction with Ember.run.scheduleOnce("afterRender"...) if I didn't fetch the data through the models but hardcoded it to the content variable.
The CollectionView also did me no favor with this exercise.
Any ideas how to solve that misery? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
I am not sure how exactly isotope.js works..considering its just a jquery plugin, you can call isotope like this even if it is a ContainerView or CollectionView.

This makes sure that the code inside ember.run runs once rendering is done completely..

Refreshing Partial View in MVC 3

I have a partial view that I have included on my _Layout.cshtml. It simply has a javascript function that changes an image based on the state of my system. I don't need to reload any data, I don't need to go to the code of the controller for anything, I simply need to reload that partial view.
I tried many of the examples that I found here but couldn't get any of them to work. I felt as if they were too complex for what I was doing anyway. Any guidance would be appreciated.

If the partial is loaded into the layout directly then there's no straightforward way to refresh it, because it's basically a part of the complete rendered page.
Your best bet is to render the partial using $.load or whatever equivalent you have available by hitting a controller method and rendering the result into a container (like a div). You would have to do this within a script that is loaded with the layout itself, by observing document.ready or something like that. Once you have that in place then it's trivial to keep reloading or refreshing the contents by hitting the controller method as many times as you need. For example in jQuery:

This will call the controller method, and set the inner contents of the element identified with #container. You can call RefreshPartial as many times as you want.
Partial views only exist on the server. The only way to "refresh" the partial is to go back to the server to get it again.
Obviously, you must be doing something in the partial that needs refreshing. Whatever that is, should be callable from javascript to do the refresh.

loading colorbox from within AJAX content

Firstly I am very new to all forms of javascript, particularly anything remotely AJAX. That said, over the course of the last day I have managed to code a script that dynamically refreshes a single div and replaces it with the contents of a div on another page.
The problem however is that several of my other scripts do not work in the ajax refreshed content. The most important of which being "colorbox".
I have spent several hours this evening researching this and am seeing lot's of stuff regarding .load, .live... updating the DOM on refresh etc...etc... But to be quite honest most of it is going over my head currently and I wouldn't know where to begin in terms of integrating it with the code I currently have.
My Ajax refresh code is as follows (My apologies if I haven't used best practice, it was my first attempt):-

I was hoping someone might be kind enough to show me the sort of modifications I would need to make to the above code in order to have the colorbox load when the contents of #rightcolumn have been refreshed.
There is also a second part to this question. My links to the pictures themselves are now also being effected by the hashtag due to the above code which will in turn prevent the images themselves from loading correctly in the colorbox I should imagine. How can I prevent these images from being effected and just have them keep the standard URL. I only want the above code to effect my internal navigation links if at all possible.

That's a lot of code to review so I'll focus first on the conceptual side of things. Maybe that you will give you some clues...
It sounds like when you load content via Ajax the DOM is changed. No worries, that's kind of what we expect. However, scripts loaded before the Ajax calls may have difficulty if they are bound to elements that weren't there at page load time or are no longer there.
JQuery's live function is one solution to that. Instead of binding to a specific element (or collection of elements) at particular point in time, live lets you specify a binding to an element (or collection) of elements without regard to when they show up in the DOM (if ever).
ColorBox, however, in its default "vanilla" use abstracts that all away and, I believe, uses classic DOM binding - meaning the elements must be present at bind time. (Since you don't show your call to ColorBox I can't see how your using it.)
You may want to consider re-initalizing ColorBox after each content load by Ajax to be certain the binding happens the way you need it to.
Use $('selector').delegate() it watches the DOM of 'selector' and .live() is deprecated.
Use this to watch your elements AND fire the colorbox initilization. This way the colorbox is not dependent on the DOM element, but the other way around.

This should basically solve your problem and is cross browser tested.
The a[rel='lightbox'] in the delegate closure is the reference to what ever link you're clicking to fire the colorbox, whether it has been loaded with the initial DOM or with an AJAX request and has been added to the DOM in a live fashion. ie: any tag like this:

Modifying main Activities grid view in CRM 4.0 using JavaScript

I have a task to change envelope icons on the main Activities view page (Work Place, My Work -> Activities) for every row in the grid, depending on the custom status of the row in crm 4.0. I need to do it using JavaScript. Does anybody know if there is a way to do that and where should the JavaScript code be placed? I am assuming that I need to intercept grid onLoad event, go through the grid, check the condition and flip the url of the icon. But I cannot figure out how to hook into that event...

I got several very useful advices and here is what I got so far.
1. I added SiteMap to load a custom page, instead of default one (/workplace/home_activities.aspx)
2. Here is the code of the custom page, placing onreadystatechange in the html was the only way I could get this function to run. Do not know why.

The issue I am having now is that the function does not run again when I try to page the grid. I have 2 pages of Activities; when the page loads for the first time - I have my alert boxes, but when I click on "page 2" arrow - nothing happens. Why??? What I am doing wrong?
You kinda can hook into that event. You create a "wrapper" HTML page that you load in CRM instead of the default activities grid via Sitemap. This wrapper contains a full-size IFrame in which you load the actual grid, and in the IFrame's onreadystatechange handler (for readyState == 4), you traverse the grid's DOM (jQuery might make this a little easier, but I haven't used jQuery much myself) and do whatever changes you need to do (that means the JavaScript goes within the wrapper HTML page). If you call this via setInterval and put a try-catch around it, this will even be safe against grid refreshes and browsing through the pages.
