I'm building a jsp which will let user select data from database, it will uploads when page will render for user. But the problem is <form:select> don't let user insert new value his own one if the value not represented in the list(doesn't inputed in database).
I need let user put his own value if it's doesn't not exist in the <form:select>.
It's kinda has to be <form:input> with <form:select><form:options items="myList"></form:select>.
Could you help me with this. Thank you
You can provide textbox and dropdown.Make textbox enable only if user didnt select any value from dropdown allow him to enter value. If he selected any value from dropdown make the textbox disable.for this you should use bit of jquery or javascript.

What I understood is , you want to populate one select box based on another select box value,

I have created a page based on "Form & Report" template. So there is the Report page on which there is the create button. That create button leads to the form page which contains.
It is pretty simple. I don't know if there is a cache memory not emptying itself or if there is a setting that I have not properly set.
When I want to create a new database record, Oracle Apex behaves as if I asked it to update a record (though it still presents me with empty text fields).
Below the image of what's happening.
Create button of the Report
Buttons for edit are shown when I click the create button
Those edit buttons are shown instead of the buttons below => This means that the Apex software is behaving like I asked to edit a record not to insert a record.
Why is this happening?
You need to take a look at your create button. Is it passing a value to the form? If so, you probably don't want that. Is it clearing the cache of the form? If not, you probably want to clear it.
Also, on the form page take a look at your processes.. specifically the Automated Row Fetch (ARF) process.. what's the primary key that this process is using?
Also, take a look at the conditions for each button on your form. For the delete/save buttons you likely want a condition type of "value of item / column in expression 1 Is NOT NULL".
For your create button you would want the opposite.. "value of item /... IS NULL".
In both cases for the expression 1 you'd want to use the item that your ARF is leveraging.
#Bloomberg58 if you used the wizard that should not have anyway try to validate the create button in report page and the server-side validation of create and save button in form page
I'm trying to create a webpage where a user can click on an item inside a gridview and have that rows data display in another page. I cannot figure out how to set it up so only the selected row's information is displayed in (I am thinking I will use a form view to display the data on the second page) the form view on the second page. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Jake
If you have just a couple of columns i did suggest you to use QueryString to pass values between pages. Lets say there are two such values you want to pass to another page:
Response.Redirect("default2.aspx?firstvalue=" + yourfirstvalue + "&secondvalue=" + yoursecondvalue");
// this will set the values you want to pass on your gridview page
Request.QueryString("firstvalue")
// this will retrieve the first value from URL from your second page
If you want a neat lookin URL then i would suggest you to use Session variables.
I have RadGrid with template field. In this i have textboxes. The user will enter values in textbox. The radgrid has paging option. How can i retain values in the previous page when user navigate to nextpage. How can i handle this?.Whether i need to save the details temporarly
yes, you have to save data temporary manually.
Let me know if you need any help.
I've got an autocompleter in a CakePHP app that provides a dropdown list of neighborhoods to attach to a place. I'm pulling from a table 'neighborhoods' with name and id fields. I want the user to see the name of the neighborhood, and I want the app to see the id of the neighborhood and insert it into the places table. How can I make this happen?
Another way of doing this would be to storing the id. Then when a user presses submit you replace the input field's value with your stored value.
assign the correct (hidden) value to a hidden input field
This type of functionality is normally achieved with a combobox, which is like an autocomplete, with an underlying select elememt, see here
