How Do I Fix an Access Forbidden Issue - image

I am using PyroCMS to develop a site where I need to access some image files. When I click on the a link I get
"Access Forbidden -You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server."
Ok - so I'm on using windows on localhost, so I go to the top level folder for the images and change the security to allow all. Still no good. OK, so I try to access the images directly through the browser with the direct url. It lets me in and I see the image.
So what gives ?? Is there something inside Apache I need to change ?? Don't think so or else it would not let me in at all, right ?
Any ideas ?
Many thanks !!
and yes I will select a "best answer"

Problem with joomla with photos and redirection

I deleted the pictures through the Joomla panel and I get such an error on the page as you can see in the picture. How to deal with this?
How to add redirection but without domain?
Your first issue about the pictures seems to be an issue with the component you're using, which is com_joomgallery in your case. When you delete the picture, it gets deleted but somehow its showing up in your JoomGallery image listing and so is the error.
Can you let me know from where you've deleted the photos? Was it from JoomGallery or from somewhere else?
If you haven't deleted them from JoomGallery then that's the reason for your issue, because JoomGallery database table still have those records and when it tries to list them its unable to find the thumbnails/images that you've deleted.
About your second question, how are you redirecting to external URL? If you're trying to open the external URL from an anchor tag try doing it like
Link
But you're using Route::_ to open the external URL, then don't. As Route::_ isn't used for external links but is meant only for internal URLs. If you want to open or redirect using Joomla, then try like this
$url = Uri::getInstance("//www.facebook.com");
$url->setScheme("https");
$externalURL = $url->toString();
echo "<a href='$externalURL'>Link</a><br>";
I hope this helps.

cannot show image in codeigniter

Actually, in my localhost, my website run without any problem.
However, in the living server, there are some problem of showing image.
If I put image in the web root, image can be showed in web. But if I put image into folder, image can't be showed.
Example:
/post/1/1.jpg
If I click the link directly:
http://website/post/1/1.jpg
it will be error 403. As below:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /post/1/1.jpg on this server.
Server unable to read htaccess file, denying access to be safe
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Discover some hints:
If I put all files into the web root, including codeigniter framework itself.
The website run without any problem.
However, it is not the good practice. Actually, I want to put the codeigniter framework out of the web root.
Open your FTP via Filezila or any other program. navigate to your root folder and find the folder /post/ right click on it and change the select File Permissions... change it to 755 and re view the image in the browser.
Thanks for all reply.
I find the solution.
1) codeigniter framework can place out of web root without changing .htaccess file.
2) folder of image should be place under web root.
3) make sure the folder of image are 755 / 777 file permission.

Forbidden You don't have permission to access /appetitclic/wp-content/themes/Apc/img/logo.png on this server

Hello all :)
I am currently working on a WP website and a the moment I am working locally with Wampserver.
None of my pictures happen to appear on my website.
Here is the error I get when I put the image url in my browser :
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access
/appetitclic/wp-content/themes/Apc/img/logo.png on this server.
I have no problem accessing phpmyadmin and image from TewentyTwelve template work fine.
Things I have tried :
-Editing (and creating) .htaccess in wp-admin.
-Editing phpmyadmin.conf
-Puting Wamp on online mode
-Working through http://127.0.0.1/ instead of locally.
I am pretty sure the problem doesn't have to so with the code because I have access to the /appetitclic/wp-content/themes/Apc/img/ folder and I see the list of images (not working). I maybe missed one or two workarounds but I am pretty sure I tried most of the common ones.
If you need any info on my setup / configs I have tried ask away.
Thank you very much,
Cheers.
If you start your relative url with a backslash '/' that means go to the servers root folder and work up from there.
Try loosing the leading slash and see what that does.
I have that same problem when I downloaded random images for img preloading testing.
So I went to change permission from no access to read & write (if on Mac then > Get info. You shall see that permission section at the very bottom).
You might use chmod to change permission to particular users.
Hope this help.
I had the same problem today. I created a static webpage put in the html folder of my web server. It turned out that some images could not be loaded. The solution is quite simple. I just right click the image folder and changed the properties to allow readers to view the images.

Unable to access magento site from anywhere but localhost

I have two applications "myapp" and "magento" on my localhost at 192.168.1.110/myapps (A) and 192.168.1.110/magento (B). (A) is an app that I wrote and can be accessed by any computer on our LAN. However, (B) cannot be accessed by anyone except on my computer, localhost.
I haven't done any special port-opening or blocking on Apache or Magento, so I'm puzzled by this. Does anybody have any insight on what might be wrong and where I should look? TIA!
EDIT: in Internet Explorer, the error is just a generic message that says "cannot display this webpage" as if it cannot even recognize the address.
EDIT 2: I tried Firebug as suggested. This is what I'm seeing under the Net tab.
"GET Magento" under URL and "ABORTED" under status. When I hover over with mouse cursor, however, it displays http://127.0.0.1/magento, which is the localhost address.. Is this being http://192.168.1.110/magento being rerouted to http://127.0.0.1/magento?
Check the base URL settings in Magento. It sounds like your base URL is set to http://127.0.0.1/magento. When you go to http://192.168.1.110/magento Magento will be called, but it will redirect to http://127.0.0.1/magento which does not work on the remote machine. You should change the base URL in Magento to http://192.168.1.110/magento.

why my IgnoreRoute does not work?

I want to prevent users access for my "~/Content/..." folder I wrote it as follow in "Global.asax.cs" and put this line of code at the top of every other routes
routes.IgnoreRoute("Content/{*pathInfo}");
but it does not work. in fact user can see every files in content folder by type the URL in browser.
am I missing something?
How did you figure out that it does not work? Give example.
You may have put it last in the Routing table. So try to move it up so that it gets added to the routing table first. The route collection is an ordered list of routes.
Also try this : Routes.IgnoreRoute("Content/");, but your version of ignore is also correct and it should work.
Lastly, I do not know what you mean when you say the user can see all the contents of the Content folder : Isn't that the point? User must be able to download files from the folder, and we usually just need MVC to ignore the requests from coming into the framework, and so that IIS can directly serve those files.
or did you mean Directory browsing is enabled, and you want to disable that : In that case go to IIS manager, and select your website and look for the Directory browsing option and disable it as shown here.
Your problem cannot be solved by routing constraints. There are 3 significant steps in processing request:
IIS got request.
IIS watch at filesystem and search for direct correspondence to file
If IIS didn't found any file - it gives request to ASP.NET MVC for processing.
So, you need to configure folder security to forbidden direct access to files, but allow access to application, as here.
But I don't recommend to secure folder, that should be shared. I don't believe that your site shouldn't have images to display :) If you have some secured content, you need to create another folder.
