How to put in mathematica what I want: setting error? - wolfram-mathematica

I downloaded mathematica 9 a while ago, and when I put I try to try something like 'f[x]={{1,2}}', My screen instead reads 'f8x8 = ;;1,2??'. While typing it also switches notation as if it is displaying the wrong way.
I keep getting the following error as well: 'The stretchable character 0x5b in the Mathematica2Mono font (size 13) has a repeating piece (0x81) that is zero size.'
Does anyone know what this means or how to remedy the situation? I'm new to mathematica and am struggling to get to anything remotely familiar. I have uninstalled and reinstalled as well.

Intermec Printer Language - Tabulation Problem

I'm an ABAP programmer and I was asked to make a minor modification to an IPL label.
Easily done, but now I was tasked to fix a long running error within said label.
I know nothing about IPL and the lack of a online viewer makes everything worse...
The problem is that "tabulation" right in the middle of a text (I underlined it in blue on the Label's pic).
I checked the code and there's nothing there that should make that tabulation appear.
I spent a whole month reading manuals and trying to fix it, but nothing changes...
Here's the code and the resulting label:

Can you guys help me, please??
Edit: Just to make it clear, I did that blue line on that image to show what's the problem.
Here are some tests I did by changing the data:
Test1
Test2
The error always appear at the same point in the label, as long as there's a space in that text.
Have you looked at the raw data of the output? Is it POSSIBLE that what looks like a space is actually some special character that is making IPL choke blue? Because it is literally the 1 character between the "O" and "1". For grins, you might also try to change the character in the data to a "-" just for purposes of confirming data context. It might even just be a TAB character.
I have done IPL years ago and have actually gone to the point of defining a pre-defined label template and generating output that says to use template X (whatever # I created as),and pass the data along that fills into the respective fields.
A final option I would throw in is this. Take the sample output you have and just force sample data into each of the output areas. So, instead of your literal data, put fake data in similar context just to see if it is data specific or other. Such as
<STX>H1;f3;o220,52;c34;b0;h2;w1;d3,300052947-FANDANGOS PRESUNTO 140GX14 LD<ETX>
becomes
<STX>H1;f3;o220,52;c34;b0;h2;w1;d3,123456789-TESTING-SAMPLEDATA-123XY12-AB<ETX>
Notice same context of data, but no spaces and using dash "-" just for testing. Is there something special about the actual data. This is a good way I have done historically for similar strangeness early on doing IPL labels.
User decided to not spend anymore time on this issue, so now I'm unable to further test the label.
Unfortunately this problem will go unsolved for now. Hope I get another chance to fix this and learn more about IPL.
Thanks you so much for your answers!

free-jQgrid "loading" message still remains

Since my app is online for to be tested by customer, I often meet this problem and I have to click several times on "Tiers" menu to hope it will disappear and give hand.
Here is a snapshot of the trouble :
WHen I use my app on local server (wampserver) I never meet this trouble.
I have several grids in my app and none displays this message online.
Firebug says "jquery.jqgrid.min.js" has error in line 344 (?). Used version is 4.13.5-pre dated 2016-08-27 and hosted server runs with php 5.6.8
Does somebody already met this type of trouble ?
If somebody can take some time to help me, I can give by email login and pass to test app online.
Many thanks for your kind help.
Cheers
JiheL
Thank you for reporting the issue. It would be helpful if you report the error using jquery.jqgrid.src.js instead of jquery.jqgrid.min.js, but I suppose that the only place in the code, which could produce the error is the piece of code with if ($input[0].tagName.toUpperCase() === "SELECT" && $input[0].multiple) {... (see here).
I posted the fix just now, which should eliminate the error. It includes the additional test if ($input.length > 0) {...} (see the line). I would still recommend you to examine the name and index values in colModel of your grids. It seems that your current code uses the filter with names or index, which is not from colModel or which uses some special characters. It's the only reason of the error, which one can see in console of your picture.

Audio Recording Semantics Issues

So I am not very good with computers and have to create my first app for a project. It's going fine so far - essentially I am trying to create an app that records and saves data. Right now I'm still getting the record part down, since Xcode is having periodic issues. I am using this link for setting up the code:
http://www.techotopia.com/index.php/Recording_Audio_on_iOS_7_with_AVAudioRecorder
Unfortunately, I am running into 2 types of semantic errors, two red, two yellow. They are all in RecordModelController.m - the first is like this:
return [self.pageData indexOfObject:viewController.dataObject];
Xcode claims that Property 'dataObject' isn't found in any object or forward class in 'RecordDataViewController'. That's actually my two red errors, they just sound very similar so I paraphrased them into one. The yellow error, however, repeats itself twice on the same line of code, which is:
return [self viewControllerAtIndex:index storyboard:viewController. storyboard];
The yellow issues on these lines of code (again, repeated twice) is "Incompatible pointer types returning 'RecordDataViewController *' from a function with result type 'UIViewController *'" - I genuinely tried to look in RecordDataViewController.h and couldn't make sense of this. Like I said, bad with computers, not sure why I'm having this issue, and I know that it's probably something basic.
If anyone would be willing to help me out with how to deal with issues like this, that would be great. Thanks, and sorry for my incompetence.
The red are called errors. The yellow are called warnings. I'm going to suggest you look at a few beginning Xcode/iOS programming tutorials so you understand the basic concepts of how view controllers, arrays, etc. work in objective-c. The best place to start for someone completely new as yourself is here: http://www.raywenderlich.com/tutorials
Hope this helps!

Erlang and current date time

I would like to get a current date time with erlang.
I have tried using the code below;
{{Year,Month,Day},{Hour,Min,Sec}} = erlang:localtime().
But sometimes it got an error like '** exception error: no match of right hand side value {{2012,5,6},{23,40,58}}'
Looks like there is a problem with 1 digit. I try searching couple of webs but still cannot find a way to cope this.
I believe this is quite an easy one but as a erlang newbie, I cannot resolve this. I try my best.
Env:
Erlang {"OTP APN 181 01","R15B01"} installed with windows binary version
Windows XP
Thanks in advance,
No, there is no problem with 1 digit. It should match perfectly well (check with {{Year,Month,Day},{Hour,Min,Sec}} = {{2012,5,6},{23,40,58}}). Most likely you have already assigned one of the variables to something earlier in the function.

Odd Behavior With Copy/Paste Into FSI On Mac

I've sort of got Fsi.exe working as expected on a Mac OS X (Snow Leopard) with Mono. I just noticed a little bit of odd behavior with cut and paste and I was wondering if anyone had seen this.
I've defined the following alias for fsi:
alias fsi='ledit mono ~/FSharp-1.9.7.8_2/bin/fsi.exe --gui-'
ledit is an Ocaml utility that seems to make the keyboard input work correctly--without it, fsi just never seems to read the input. To see what I mean, try Fsi.exe without ledit and enter
let square x = x * x;;
without ledit, it just never seems to parse the input. I mean it never comes back to the ">" prompt after you enter the string. With ledit, the ">" prompt comes back immediately.
Of course the --gui- keeps fsi from displaying all the messages about the lack of System.Drawing etc.
So this all seems to work. The oddity is when I copy and paste code into the FSI, certain characters seem to repeat over and over again. It seems to be conditioned by the size of the buffer I'm pasting in. When I paste small snippets there seems to be no problem. But if I paste in larger chunks, there's this oddity.
If I do the following:
open System.IO;;
then paste this code snippet in FSI:
let buildFileList basepath filespec =
seq {
yield! Directory.GetFiles(basepath, filespec, System.IO.SearchOption.AllDirectories)
}
That works fine. But if I copy and paste in a bigger chunk of code ending with that, it repeats the portion up to the yield! over and over again. It seems to be somehow related to fsi attempting to parse the code as it's being pasted in because the same code pasted in will cause parsing errors (like FS0010) when it's pasted at the end of a long chunk but won't cause an error when it's isolated.
If I #load the entire file, it parses correctly as well so I think my code is ok.
This oddity in copy/paste seems to happen both with and without ledit on the command line. I don't mind researching this issue myself but I'm kind of stumped about where I should proceed with this. I'm copying from GVim if that makes a difference but anyone have any idea where I might proceed in trying to isolate the cause of this odd behavior? I suppose I could take the extra step of copying into TextEdit first and then trying to copy into fsi but any ideas beyond that?
To bottom line this: has anyone else seen this odd behavior? If not, any suggestions about how I might proceed in trying to isolate the cause of this odd behavior?
When I encountered this behavior on my Mac, I went a different route. Instead of using ledit, I employed fsi's --readline option, seen below (where ${FSHARP} is my install path).
mono ${FSHARP}/fsi.exe --readline+ --gui-
You may also want to check your terminal settings. My terminal (for example) is declared as xterm-color, and I have unchecked delete sends CTRL-H. I think those are the only relevant settings, but don't hold me to it.
