Installing Inkscape on Mavericks - x11

I have installed Inkscape 0.48.2 on my brand new mac mini running Mavericks but I can never get it to work as it crashes. It once asked me about the X11 server which I have installed but it never worked ever since. What should I do?

Make sure you installed Xquartz for the X server. http://xquartz.macosforge.org/
To see the logs you can try from the command line:
/Applications/Inkscape.app/Contents/MacOS/Inkscape

OpenCobolIDE stopped working after macOS Mojave update

Before updating to macOS Mojave, OpenCobolIDE was working fine, but ever since I updated, every time I try to open the application, it just closes a second after I pressed the icon. This I probably compatibility issues with the now OS, but is there any methods to fix it without downgrading my OS?
Thanks in advance
I had problems with OpenCobolIDE 4.7.4 on Mac after upgrade to Mojave - the program gets stalled with spinning wheel. Instead of using the download on https://launchpad.net/cobcide/+download, I have installed it with pip3:
In a terminal window I ran the command : sudo pip3 install OpenCobolIDE --upgrade
For more info see https://gist.github.com/ejlp12/4f59bd35cbfe4c5ffcf7955d5680a298
It installs OpenCobolIDE 4.7.6 and it runs smoothly after installation. The executable can be found in /usr/local/bin

Mavericks - Trying to install XQuartz X11 for Inkscape, "image not found"

So I'm trying to install Inkscape onto my Mac, which is running on Mavericks. Upon trying to open, i'm told that I need to install X11 and am forwarded to this site http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/X112.7.5. Downloaded the file, when trying to open i'm told that the image can't be found. How can I get X11 + Inkscape running?! Thanks for your help in advance!
When Inkscape asks
Where is X11?
I had to go to Applications -> Utilities -> X11
The reason you think it did not work is because the first time Inkscape opens, it takes up to a minute and a half. It just seems to sit there, doing nothing, but it will open for sure. Once it opens, close it completely via XQuartz, then re-open it and it will open in 2-3 seconds. Use this direct link for the latest version of XQuartz 2.7.11.
https://www.xquartz.org
Works just fine for Mavericks 10.9.5, no worries. If not, update to OS X 10.9.5 via AppStore.
Install the X11 2.7.4 from here. I had to restart after this install, but it worked like a charm. MATLAB took forever to open the first round, but it eventually did and now everything seems OK.
For the record, I'm running 10.9.1 on a 2009 MacbookPro. Had the same problem after I upgraded to Mavricks and could not install X11, the 2.7.5 Package.

X11 include files not installed with Xquartz on OS X Mavericks

I have a brand new Mac Book Pro and am trying to get my dev environment set up. I have installed Xcode 5.0.2, command line tools (late october command line tools for Mavericks) and finally XQuartz 2.7.5. Everything went fine except than there X11 includes are nowhere to be found. /usr/X11 only contains lib, libexec and bin directories.
On my former laptop, I updated to Mavericks, reinstalled new Xcode, command line tools and finally Xquartz as well and it all worked out. I suppose it because I had old includes preinstalled but I can't be sure.
any hint? Is there a XQuartz-dev package?
Thanks a lot

Where is the download for mac osx on couchdb.org?

I upgraded my OSX to Lion. As I went to install couchdb locally I found that the installer link for mac on http://couchdb.apache.org was gone and replaced with "Mac OS X binaries coming soon". I haven't used couchdb before but I know it was there at one point.
A friend sent me a copy zipped up which he installed on his Snow Leopard OSX. This installed and I could access the Admin Console, but I was unable to access futon.
Is there a reason the button is missing, or is there another way to install it?
My guess is that the site is detecting my operating system and they just aren't ready for 10.7.5 yet. But How do I go about installing a local version?
To install I followed the steps in this post Couch DB installation not working on Mac OSx Lion.
It worked like a charm step by step.
The new version 1.2.1 has recently been released and packed for Mac OSX. You can download it from http://couchdb.apache.org/#download or from http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi?path=/couchdb/packages/mac/1.2.1/Apache-CouchDB-1.2.1.zip

gcc is not working on snow leopard

After upgrading to snow leopard it turn out that i am unable to use gcc on terminal anymore, and its mainly because it has lose its link in /usr/bin/.
What should i do to make it work again?
[After installing Xcode 3.2, everything went to normal, terminal was accepting gcc command, but i have to shutdown once, because netbeans was not working properly, so after shutdown, its looking great]
Reinstall XCode from the Snow Leopard installation media, and when asking what to install, make sure you select command-line tools.
The easiest solution is to install XCode 3.2 supplied on the Snow Leopard DVD
