lock article in joomla - joomla

Is any way to lock any article with any password. I look for this 2 days and nothing. I have idea, lock any urls with psw with .htaccess . . . .it is really?
I need from one page in joomla website use one psw. For second page in website second psw. I use j3. I need it for Phoca gallery and Yootheme ZOO.

Besides what lodder suggests, which would be my first choice, maybe it would be enough with assigning that content to specific usergroups and access levels, so that logging with specific name/pwd would be required to access that content. Depending on your exact needs, this could be enough, and would save you from adding extra extensions.

Joomla cache make website's first page really late to open

I have an e-shop made with Joomla - Virtuemart.
The issue is that, at the first page, the website starts to open after 20-30seconds you hit the URL.
After discussing it with my hosting provider, they found that index.php sends for about 20s requests at the file :
httpdocs/cache/convertECB/86b44edeb1436781d050e4862dd10353-cache-convertECB-bf2c8f06ab151915cd5d7bbef20b70dd.php
Even if i manually delete it, joomla recreates the file and continue to be slow.
In global configuration cache is off.
Any idea, from what is this file coming from and how should i handle the situation?

ECB is virtuemart currency conversion rates file. That file is downloaded 3 to 4 times daily depending on your settings. It is in cache ditetory and updated with new file names.
EDIT
You have to uninstall the module as by disabling it will still download xml conversion file. Login to administrator and then go to Control panel, Extensions - Install/Uninstall. Search and select "mod_virtuemart_currencies" now click on the uninstall button at the top.
It seems that you have more than one currency (maybe you have one product priced with another currency - once this is the case, the ECB will automatically be triggered). In any case, the fact that it's waiting 20-30 seconds means that it's timing out on something. Maybe it's trying to open a URL that has the IP of your website banned (this is very possible, and we had the exact scenario with one of our clients before).
If you can provide us with the contents of the cache file that is being called by your index.php file, maybe we can be of more help.

Change Joomla 3 page url extension from .html to .htm

I am creating a website using Joomla 3 CMS. I have a requirement from my client that i need to change the existing page url extension from .html to .htm. As this website is redesign of a existing website the old links have .htm extension.
Open ../libraries/cms/router/site.php
Go to line number 144
And change
if ($format = $uri->getVar('format', 'html'))
to
if ($format = $uri->getVar('format', 'htm'))
I hope that helps
If you don't want to edit core files, and that is certainly not advised for sake of future upgrades. Your best solution is using a custom component for managing Joomla's SEF URLs, for example: sh404SEF (Paid) or JoomSEF (Free).
Check out http://extensions.joomla.org/category/site-management/sef for others.
Never ever edit Joomla Core files, otherwise when you upgrade Joomla, all your changes will be gone.
As #Alexxandar said; use SEO/SEF components for your needs. I recommend to use MijoSEF (Free or Paid)
Go to global configuration and remove the l from the suffix.
THis is a Joomla configuration question and a standard joomla configuration (not programming) option.
Now the one thing you will have to worry about is that if there are any old links to the htm pages. FOr this you will probably want to use the built in redirect component. Turn on the redirect plugin and then if you have a small number of pages you can just set up the redirection by hand. If you have more pages you may want to write the sql to create a bunch of redirects. Or you might want to make your own plugin to permanently redirect the old to the new.

Managing contents in multilingual stores in Magento

This might be a basic question, I'm still relatively new to Magento. I have 2 store views in a magento project. 1 for English (default) and 1 for Japanese. While working with both store views, I noticed how if for example I switch to the Japanese store view, if I redirected to a different page or content on the store, the language goes back to English. How do I prevent the website from going back to the default language every time I change categories/catalogs?
That is all about Magento Admin setting. While creating Content Pages/Categories/products, there is a option that ask to choose Store View.
You can add content for Cateogries/Product/CMS Pages for each locale. If it is done then you'll be able to see your site content on the basis of current locale. Hence you need to go through Magento Admin first.
Hope it will work for you. Please let me know if any issue.
Managing contents in multilingual stores in Magento is easy.
Edit/Create Product/Category/Page/Static blocks according to need storeview and put content according to languages in that.
Now access pages by store code, if we are using that.
In some case we don't find the heading names according to languages so just enable inline translater from admin and do translation specific to store/website.
To run Magento store using urls we have both options index.php modifiction and using .htaccess using website and store codes.
On running Magento multisite , multistore. We generally face the common urls for media, js and other resources we should use symlink to increase SEO ranking and score.
Please feel free to contact.
Install your language package.
Create products, categories, pages, and static blocks on the basis of your selected language.
Sometimes translation does not work for few words. In those cases, Inline translation from admin will help you.
Managing content according to store view is very easy.
follow up below steps for managing content according to Store view.
Edit your product or category or your page and static block etc.
after that you can see store select left side in product and category and on page you can see feild below url in static block also. select your store view.
whater ever you want to change or edit please do according to you.
After that save it will apear only on your selected store.
Note: if you not edit any fild by store then it will show default store contents.

How to load content from another Joomla database

I have two Joomla websites of related organisations: J1 and J2.
How can I load the content and title of an article which is stored in J2 to show in J1?
I can access configuration.php of J2 and get its database connection details or type it myself.
Also this probably would have to be some kind of plug-in where one just type:
{getExternalArticle=id} within the body of any content in J1.
Any suggestions for the best approach?
See this for reference:
http://docs.joomla.org/Connecting_to_an_external_database
Creating a content plugin:
http://docs.joomla.org/J1.5:Creating_a_content_plugin
This is specific to the old Joomla 1.5 and there are a few differences in 2.5 and the above is the use of JFields instead of JParameters in xml declaration and in the name of the events.
You can see more details on this here:
http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/joomla-25/create-plugin

How to get article text by article ID in Joomla?
You might want considered writing a program (perhaps in PHP) that could run as a CRON job and with authorization credentials to access the MySQL TABLE(s) needed from the other site to pull in those Joomla articles and have it populate the website so it could be displayed properly. I am making an assumption that one website has updates and you want them display on the other website, so I would look as a method for one site to feed another.

Joomla 1.6 backend admin area blank

For some reason, when I log into my joomla 1.6 backend, it is now empty, displaying only a logout button. Any Ideas?
I just went through the same problem but on J!1.7.3. There may be many, many reasons but please check using just URL if you can see for example:
[YourDomainHere]/administrator/index.php?option=com_content or
[YourDomainHere]/administrator/index.php?option=com_modules
If content is listing and you're missing just Admin-menu and sub-navigation in back-end --> this means you messed-up with access levels and viewing access.
If you can't see content listing - ignore the rest of this post :-)
...with access levels and viewing access. To check that, try entering [YourDomainHere]/administrator/index.php?option=com_users&view=levels and enter each position in the list. Joomla backend navigation module usually has Access set to Special, so focus on this one. When enter Special - manager, author and super administrator should be ticked. If everything empty in any from the list - this is your issue :)
You need to add manager, author and super administrator to your Special access level. Obviously you can't see Save button, so you need to use database. [wrrr :) sounds scary?] Not a big deal, just go there using for example phpMyAdmin and find _viewlevels table. In there just edit Special and add [6,2,8] values to set up manager, author, super.....
Update database. Try to log-in one more time (close browser and clean cache before).
I hope if this wasn't helpful for you, will be for somebody else.
p.s. There may be a way of 'saving' changes in you joomla access levels with URL. Then you don't need to go to DB .. but I don't know if this is feasible at all :)
Check the rewrite of htaccess and the $mosConfig_absolute_path variable in config.php
Apparently, the Bluestork Template (admin template) has some security issues. In my case there were some missing files in the template folder /administrator/templates/bluestork/ that caused the administrator screen to appear blank. I've copied a clean version of the template in the bluestork folder and after that I was able to see the backend admin area.
I've removed the bluestork templates entirely for now, which seems to be the best option. Joomla installs 2.5.8, 2.5.6, 2.5.2, 1.7.0, 1.6.3 are affected. The Blustork Template is a target for hacks with old Joomla.
this happening becoz of admin user lost his permissions. see below article to fix this issue
