I've got a problem since a couple of weeks that I can't rid of.
I have installed XAMPP on my desktop (running Win 8.1), then I have uninstalled it to install a newer version (I couldn't simply upgrade at the time).
The process failed cause there were some file that the uninstall process wasn't able to remove (in c:/XAMPP directory). I've removed them manually without problems.
However, when I tried to reinstall the latest version, the installer simply DIDN'T RUN. I noticed that, after downloading it from the official site and launching it, the installer seems to work but after few secs my browser crashes. Then it stops working, I can't even restart it or kill the process definitely (I'm using Chrome but I tried also Firefox).
My questions are:
Why the installer doesn't work and I can't reinstall XAMPP ?
Why the installer makes my browsers crash ?
I can provide machine specs if needed !
Thank you !

I have just updated the RStudio to the newest available version. Turning on the computer (Windows 10) the next day and launching RStudio I see that it is back to version 1.4.1106, that has somehow been automatically reinstalled.
I have tried uninstalling 1.4.1106 multiple times and installing both earlier and later versions, but every time I restart it is back to 1.4.1106. Please suggest how I can be able to fix this.
i installed the latest version of VS Code (1.57) but when i start it it hangs and wouldn't let me click the Workspace Trust dialogue. i tried removing and installing but still the same issue, even older versions. i am using Linux Sentos and it was working just fine before.

I downloaded the setup from https://www.continuum.io/downloads, Anaconda 4.3.0 for windows, Python version 3.6 (64-bit). The download was successful but when I ran the installer, the setup wizard crashes. Windows pop up a dialog with the message saying, "Anaconda3 Installer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program", while the wizard is at "Extract: _system_path.py" step.
I have tried downloading the installer multiple times using different browsers and download managers, thinking that it might be a download issue, but I got the same result every time. Could there a problem with the windows installer from the download page? Please suggest any solutions for getting this installation done.
Downloaded again yesterday and it worked. Guess it was some issue with the installer downloaded last time I was trying
First Of all when I tried to install it using win32 installer Official doc , it hangs the installation process when CLI installation part comes in the process. Seeing that I switched over to the zip installer and run phonegap.exe this came up Image and sticks to this.
How to solve this?
I solved the problem like this:
First of all uninstall the previously installed Phonegap completely, then turn off your windows defender and firewall both. Now reinstall the same again. And it should work!
Hope this helps.
I'm trying to install Visual Studio 2005 on a Windows 7 box but am repeatedly getting the same error. When I run the installer it starts to run then pops up with a message saying:
"A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Canceling setup."
Various suggestions has said that maybe the install is corrupted so I downloaded a fresh copy of the ISO from MSDN today, same issue. Another suggestion is that installing from the ISO may be the issue so I extracted the contents of the ISO to a folder on my HDD, same issue. I have also tried running the files as administrator and in XP compatability mode, same issue.
Searching for this issue the most common responses I've found have been about installing SP1, however I cannot get the base product to install and therefore cannot apply SP1.
Does anyone have any further suggestions as to what I can do to fix this issue and get VS2005 installed? If anyone wants any log files of any variety I am happy to supply so long as you tell me where to look as I'm not sure.
As for why I am using VS2005 and not a newer product, it is required for the ongoing support and maintenance of some older applications we manage. These cannot be easily migrated to a newer version of Visual Studio without some considerable investment of time and that would probably be longer than the time it will take to develop newer, replacement applications (which is currently in progress). Until the new applications are available though we need to maintain an environment to use.
Did you try running setup.exe in compatibility mode with Windows XP? Some discussion here on how to do this.
Another alternative since you alluded to having an MSDN subscription. Download Windows XP and install it into a VM. (If HyperV isn't already in installed with your Win7, you can add it from Control Panel->Programs&Features->Turn Windows Features on/off). Then install VS2005 from there.
