In Toad for Oracle, I click on menu "Help > Contents" to open the help window. Then I press alt+tab to return to the Toad window, but I doesn't return to the Toad window, it goes to other window. So I have to click (with the mouse) on the Toad window to select it. Then I press alt+tab to return to the help window, but I doesn't return to the help window, it goes to other window. So I have to click (with the mouse) on the help window to select it.
Any shortcut to change from Toad window to help window, and viceversa?
Alt+Tab switches between open applications. The help and main Toad window are lumped together as the same application for Alt+Tab purposes. Alt+ESC will do what you want. It switches between open windows although it's a bit more of a stretch to reach.

I can't see the detailed job log message from IBM Data Stage Designer (client) from a few days ago. I had worked well by double-clicking the log message on the job log panel, but suddenly it has been stopped to show up in the popup windows.
I tried to push the key combination: Shift + Window + Left/Right arrows, but it still does not provide the job log window. Could anyone has an idea how to make it visible again? I would appreciate it.
If you're working with multiple monitors, maybe on a laptop, changing the connected monitors, then maybe the popup window is showing "outside the box". You already tried to fix it with Shift+Win+←→, but this type of modal window will not stick to that.
Instead, try the following procedure:
Press Alt+SPACE while the window has focus. This will bring up the context menu of the window.
Use the arrow keys ↑,↓ to select Move and press ↵Enter. Do not click on it using the mouse.
The window is now in moving state. Press any arrow key ←↑↓→, just one keystroke.
Now, the window will be stuck to the mouse. Move the mouse around (without clicking) to retrieve the window.
Click once to release the window from the mouse.
When working with multiple tabs in fullscreen mode, I often split a iTerm pane by dragging an open iTerm tab to the active pane.
However, once I split the pane, I cannot find a way to return the split pane back to a tab. Is there a way to do this? Or is there a different way to accomplish what I am seeking?
Select "Move Session to Split Pane" in the context menu, then click the pane.
Now you can drag the title bar of the pane.
Although I don't understand why it works.
I've been able to do it by "Move Session to Window" on the pane with the session you want to keep; "New Tab" in the new window; drag the tab you want over to another window; then close the extra window.
I have a problem with re-opening the main window of MySQL Workbench after I close it.
When I close the application (using the red close button on the top left corner of the MySQL Workbench window), the "main window" disappears.
The App Icon in the Dock shows that the application is still active.
When I want to re-open MySQL Workbench, I press again on the Dock icon. However, the "main window" does not open again. The only way to get this window again is to really QUIT MySQL Workbench (Right click on Dock icon, then choose Quit), and then to re-open it.
How can I re-open the main window without having to really close the application time after time? Do I something wrong? Or is this a bug?
I have version mysql-workbench-community-8.0.13-macos-x86_64.
I am using MacOs Mojave version 10.14.2.
I noticed that sometimes I can reopen the main window using the top bar menu View -> Home, but a lot of the times this does not work either!
The top-left red button doesn't mean "Quitting", only closing the window (some application automatically quit after closing, but some don't)
To make the Main Workbench window appear again, you can select the Menu "View" --> "Home". Then you should see a tab on top of that window, where you can click to go back to your view.
(So you don't need to quit, and open the application again)
We can close a Tool Window with Shift+Esc. What is the shortcut to hide a Tool Window? I have tried Ctrl+M, Ctrl+H to no avail.
For example, when the Locals window is open, I can close it with Shift+Esc but not hide it.
Closing a tool window preserves its state and actually works like hiding. Maybe you want to assign a shortcut to the Window.AutoHide command (also available in the main Window menu).
Within the last day, in Internet Explorer 8, the developer tools window will not show up.
When I hit F12 or use menu Tools -> Developer Tools I get the Developer Tools entry in the Task Bar but the actual window will not show up.
It has been running fine for a month or so. I have tried rebooting with no luck.
How do I get a window back on the screen when it moved far, far away?
From the article:
Switch to the application, say by clicking on its taskbar button or by
Alt+Tab'ing to it. Then type Alt+Space to call up the System menu: You
should get a window floating at the edge of the screen. Type M to
select Move, then press an arrow key to enter Move mode.
Additional remark by #WebSolProv:
It would appear that something happens with IE that causes the developer tools window to be shrunk to the height of the header bar and width of about 2 inches. By using this solution you can then move the the window into view and enlarge as usual.
If you are on Windows 7, Windows Key + Up Arrow Key will maximize the window.
Not related to the window issue, but in some companies, this could be due to policies. In such cases, at least for me, it worked after modifying the registry like this
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > POLICIES > MICROSOFT > INTERNET EXPLORER > IEDEVTOOLS
and then modifying the DISABLED value to 0, which was 1 for me previously.
I had same problem on Windows 7 when I went back to single monitor setup after having a dual monitor setup.
Use the Windows 7 keyboard shortcut for moving windows around the screen. You may need to repeat the same combination twice.
Windows Key + Left Arrow
or
Windows Key + Right Arrow
Deleting some registry keys worked for me. Try running this in a prompt
reg delete "hkcu\software\microsoft\internet explorer\iedevtools" /v windowpos
Select by Developer Tools window by ALT+TAB then press ALT+SPACE to show window menu and select Maximize or type 'X' character. The Winow will Show UP.
If the window is off page and out of reach by the cursor you can always right click the program in the task bar, click Move then you can use the arrow keys to move the window back into view
For me the menu item 'tools > developer tools' and F12 would not do anything, however the command bar 'tools' dropdown worked as well as the command bar icon.
Run IE and hit F12 , window appears in taskbar.Right click on taskbar and select maximize. vola!! it will appear
