I am new to Jenkins CI and i am trying to run my buildscript.xml file from jenkis in windows OS,
can someone help me how do i do it correctly? Alternatively i have a build.bat batch file too, if i execute it in command prompt like ">build.bat trunk head"
it invokes build script and starts the build.
how can i accomplish the same in jenkins?
Thanks in advance.
Create a new Freestyle job
Select your Source Code system (svn, git, etc)
Specify which repo to check out from, and into which folder, for example my_co
The checkout will be available in what's known as workspace, and you can reference it's absolute location with %WORKSPACE%\my_co anywhere in the build
Create Invoke Ant build step, and specify location of your buildscript.xml, relative to %WORKSPACE%, and optional which targets to execute.
OR
Create Execute Windows Batch Command build step, and call your batch file, again the location is relative to %WORKSPACE%

I am trying to create a job for Jenkins to automatically build Firefox on Windows machine.
Is it possible to create a script(.bat, .sh or python) which starts start-shell.bat and executes mach build command inside started shell window?
Create a new freestyle job and then configure it. After specifying where your source code repository is located in the SCM section. Add a Window Batch Build step and specify the workspace-relative path to your .bat file that in turn calls the commands you want.
I need to execute groovy script with gradle, but the thing is that these scripts are located in external directory (let's say it's Desktop). I've heard, that in previous versions of Gradle (currently working on 3.2.1) it was not possible, since it is not part of the gradle project. I wonder if it is possible now, or do I have to copy all these scripts into some folder located in gradle project, to execute it.
User story:
I found script in external directory (based on some properties passed to console) - I have absolute path to the script
Now I want to execute this script (build.gradle) without copying it into my gradle project
I'm pretty green with gradle and I hope I made my point clear.
Thanks for help and every attempt :)
Is that what you're looking for? To run the script clone the repository, navigate to 42556631/project folder and run the command:
gradle -b ../script/build.gradle clean build
yes you need to move build.gradle file into project/Build Script folder and then run it.
I have TeamCity installed on centos. I have only one Linux BuildAgent for now. My build configuration execute a maven script and using ant upload WAR artifact to Windows Server on FTP. After this step i have to execute BAT file on remote Windows Server. I read that i can do this using psexec/RemCom, but i can't understand how i can do this in TeamCity? Build Step or different Build Configuration should contain steps to execute psexec/RemCom or i can insert Build Step into existed Build Configuration?
Single build configuration could potentially consists of multiple build steps. Think of them as a actions you would like to do. So I suppose that right now you have a maven step in your build configuration. I would suggest you to add Command Line step, where you can do what ever you want -- it's like bash/batch script. You can put script contents directly to the build step, or you can write script and execute it.
But as you mentioned that you have CentOS, it could be you have to do extra configuration on the build agent for PsExec to be available.
What I have done :
I have Jenkins set up on my Ubuntu in :
/var/lib/jenkins/
I have a job, that runs every 45 minutes that does a hg pull and hg update --clean default
from my bitbucket repository. So this is running fine.I have a folder
/var/lib/jenkins/jobs/Code Deployement
which contains the latest updated code from my repository.
Problem :
However, I want to access my updated code from
/var/www/html/[project-name]
Query :
Is there anyway i can make jenkins job update this folder instead of the /var/lib/jenkins/Code Deployment folder ? I certainly dont want to make /var/www/html/[project-name] as my jenkins home folder.
How can I achieve what I described above. Will I have to copy the folder from the jobs folder to my desired location after every time the job runs ? Please help me out with the solution,I'am a beginner with automated deployment using Jenkins.
Thank you.
Under "Advanced" you can explicitly choose a working directory for the projects without changing the Jenkins home directory. Check the "Use custom workspace" box and set the directory that Jenkins will pull the code to and build in.
In our setup we wait for the build process to complete in the working directory and add a build step for Jenkins to copy (most) of the files out to the directory that serves up the website. We had issues with file locking preventing the build process if someone (e.g. the testers) were using the site.
One simple way to do it is to create a symlink under /var/www/html/ that points to your code directory, e.g.:
sudo ln -s /var/lib/jenkins/jobs/"Code Deployement" /var/www/html/[project-name]
I have a build step that builds my projects and packs it into a myfile.jar and put it in my artifacts dir.
i have also told jenkins to archive the myfile.jar.
now i want to add another build step to execute shell command java -jar myfile.jar and install it for further testings
how can i tell jenkins to point to myfile.jar when executing the shell command ? i don't know the artifacts dir name since it's dynamically created with build number etc...
thanks.
The artifacts directory is on the master, not the slave.
If both are on the same machine for you, the artifacts reside at:
$JENKINS_HOME/jobs/$JOB_NAME/$BUILD_ID/archive
However, like Anders Lindahl said, archiving an artifact does not delete it from the workspace; why not use it directly from there. Generally, you do not want to disturb the archives directories...
