Windows 7, Tesseract 3.02
All I'm trying to do is run "tesseract img.jpg img" from cmd.exe.
I'm running it from my C:\...\Tesseract-OCR directory.
But I get the error:
Error opening data file
C:\...\Tesseract-OCR\tessdata/tessdata/eng.traineddata
Please make sure the TESSDATA_PREFIX environment variable is set to
the parent directory of your "tessdata" directory.
Failed loading language 'eng'
Tesseract couldn't load any languages!
Could not initialize tesseract.
How can I fix this?
This problem has been brought up many times it seems (around the web), but no answers I've come across have done me any good.
I've tried doing "set TESSDATA_PREFIX=C:\...\Tesseract-OCR" but nothing changes.
Does it have to do with the reversal of the backslashes|forward slashes in the path?
Reinstalled.... works fine now :B
Correct Output:
Tesseract Open Source OCR Engine v3.02 with Leptonica

I have a Windows 10 laptop where no TeX distribution was ever installed before (double-checked for config directories, files, and environment variables).
Wanting to install TeX Live 2021, I followed the full installation guide and also read the Windows-specific warnings. I've now tried several times, following different installation procedures - cleaning up everything (deleting base & user directories, environment variables, etc) before each time - but still don't manage to get a working installation. Before I report a bug at tex-live#tug, I wanted to ask for advice here, in case I'm doing something wrong. Here is what I did, step by step, and the problems I encountered in the process.
1. First I tried running the recommended online installer install-tl-windows.exe. It never got past the screen that tries to contact or load from a repository, even after a 30-min wait. Tried a dozen times, choosing different mirrors nearby and far away. No luck.
2. Then I downloaded and unpacked the install-tl.zip and run install-tl-windows.bat therein. This time the main installation window appeared. I left all default paths and environment variables (note that I do have write access to C:); in the selection scheme I unselected all languages except US & UK English, unselected XeTeX, LuaTeX, ConTeXt; also unselected TeXworks (I use Emacs), and clicked Install. After one to three hours (depending on the mirror I chose), the installation was complete.
I tried compiling a minimal latex document (see below), and got an error similar to the one in this old question:
I can't find the format file `pdflatex.fmt'
Following the advice in the answers to that question and similar questions elsewhere online such as this, I tried running texhash and fmtutil-sys --all. The latter gave the error
no appropriate script or programme found fmtutil.
for which there are also many posts online.
2a. Not understanding what the problem could be, I re-tried with all possible combinations of the following three options: (a) choosing different mirrors; (b) leaving the full selection of packages (ie without unselecting some languages, LuaTeX etc); (c) redoing the procedure by choosing "Run as Administrator". No luck.
3. At this point I tried downloading the ISO file with the full installation. Mounted the image and run install-tl-windows.bat (as normal user, as recommended; I repeat that I do have write access to C:). Everything proceeded as in step 2. above. At the end of the installation I tried running pdflatex on the minimal latex document. New error this time:
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-1.40.22 (TeX Live 2021/W32TeX) (preloaded format=pdflatex)
restricted \write18 enabled.

Very strange. A file search revealed that article.cls is in the TeXLive file system; but kpathsea did not see it indeed.
4. At this point I opened the TeX Live Shell from the Start Menu; selected a CTAN mirror; updated the TL Manager which was not up to date; updated all packages; run Regenerate filename database; and run Regenerate formats. With the latter I got this error:
tex live shell:

I tried to continue anyway with Regenerate fontmaps, and then tried again pdflatex on the minimal document. New error:

5. I tried again steps 3. and 4., but with "Run as Administrator". Same errors.
OK at this point I give up and really don't know what to do. Am I doing something wrong? For the moment I have to concur with this post: installation of TeX Live 2021 is an utter failure.
Here is the minimal latex file I used for testing (copy & paste):
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
test
\section{Section}

\end{document}

I cant use sparkR in Rstudio because im getting some error: Error in sparkR.sparkContext(master, appName, sparkHome, sparkConfigMap, :
JVM is not ready after 10 seconds
I have tried to search for the solution but cant find one. Here is how I have tried to setup sparkR:
Sys.setenv(SPARK_HOME="C/Users/alibaba555/Downloads/spark") # The path to your spark installation
.libPaths(c(file.path(Sys.getenv("SPARK_HOME"), "R", "lib"), .libPaths()))
library("SparkR", lib.loc="C/Users/alibaba555/Downloads/spark/R") # The path to the lib folder in the spark location
library(SparkR)
sparkR.session(master="local[*]",sparkConfig=list(spark.driver.memory="2g")*
Now execution starst with a message:
Launching java with spark-submit command
C/Users/alibaba555/Downloads/spark/bin/spark-submit2.cmd
sparkr-shell
C:\Users\ALIBAB~1\AppData\Local\Temp\Rtmp00FFkx\backend_port1b90491e4622
And finally after a few minutes it returns an error message:
Error in sparkR.sparkContext(master, appName, sparkHome,
sparkConfigMap, : JVM is not ready after 10 seconds
Thanks!
It looks like the path to your spark library is wrong. It should be something like: library("SparkR", lib.loc="C/Users/alibaba555/Downloads/spark/R/lib")
I'm not sure if that will fix your problem, but it could help. Also, what versions of Spark/SparkR and Scala are you using? Did you build from source?
What seemed to be causing my issues boiled down to the working directory of our users being a networked mapped drive.
Changing the working directory fixed the issue.
If by chance you are also using databricks-connect make sure that the .databricks-connect file is copied into the %HOME% of each user who will be running Rstudio or set up databricks-connect for each of them.
I'm running Qt 5.3.1 on Mac OS X 10.8 and 10.9 I'm trying to use the macdeployqt tool to bundle libraries and plugins with my executable, but it's apparently trying to include everything on my hard drive.
I invoke it with:
/Applications/Qt/5.3.1/5.3/clang_64/bin/macdeployqt /Users/adamwilt/Desktop/temp/DesktopPixie.app -verbose=2
-qmldir=/Users/adamwilt/Desktop/temp/DesktopPixie.app/Contents/Resources/qml/DesktopPixie
and get lots of normal, expected log messages like:
Log: copy: "/Applications/Qt/5.3.1/5.3/clang_64/qml/QtQuick/Controls/Styles/Base/images" "/Users/adamwilt/Desktop/temp/DesktopPixie.app/Contents/Resources/qml/QtQuick/Controls/Styles/Base/images"
...and all runs fine until I start getting messages like:
Log: copy: "" "/Users/adamwilt/Desktop/temp/DesktopPixie.app/Contents/Resources/qml/MessageBoxUI/Enums"
ERROR: file copy failed from "/do-gst"
ERROR: to "/Users/adamwilt/Desktop/temp/DesktopPixie.app/Contents/Resources/qml/MessageBoxUI/Enums/do-gst"
ERROR: file copy failed from "/rescuepro.properties"
ERROR: to "/Users/adamwilt/Desktop/temp/DesktopPixie.app/Contents/Resources/qml/MessageBoxUI/Enums/rescuepro.properties"
ERROR: file copy failed from "/rescuepro34act.lic"
and then the fun begins:
Log: copy: "/Applications" "/Users/adamwilt/Desktop/temp/DesktopPixie.app/Contents/Resources/qml/MessageBoxUI/Enums/Applications"
Log: copied: "/Applications/License.rtf"
Log: to "/Users/adamwilt/Desktop/temp/DesktopPixie.app/Contents/Resources/qml/MessageBoxUI/Enums/Applications/License.rtf"
Log: copy: "/Applications/0xED-1.0.7.app" "/Users/adamwilt/Desktop/temp/DesktopPixie.app/Contents/Resources/qml/MessageBoxUI/Enums/Applications/0xED-1.0.7.app"
It appears it's trying to copy everything (that is, "") into the app, but I ^C out of it while I still have disk space left!
It didn't do this at first; then it did so for a week; then it stopped; now it's back. This is a distributed development project; I'm doing the QML stuff and folks elsewhere are doing the C++. It's possible the other folks are changing a configuration somewhere that's causing this to occur, but I'm the only one doing Mac deployments, so I'm the only one who sees this.
Is there a config file of some sort for macdeployqt where this might be getting triggered? Or is it more likely a problem related to the C++ object MessageBoxUI, which defines several Q_ENUMs (apparently correctly, as it compiles without warnings or errors, and appears to run properly), since that's the target directory when it starts going mad?
Sussed it (well enough that I can go on):
The Qt app I'm trying to deploy lives in ~/Desktop/temp. If I set my current directory to ~/Desktop or ~/Desktop/temp before I run macdeployqt, it runs as expected.
If I run it from from my home directory ~, or ~/Documents, macdeployqt tries to pull in everything it finds in /Applications, /opt, and/or other directories unassociated with the app.
Setting cwd to most other paths, including ~/Downloads, /Applications, subdirectories of ~/Documents, etc. also seems to work; it's only running macdeployqt from ~ and ~/Documents that causes the problem.
No proper explanation as to why this is happening, but just a warning in case someone else sees this sort of weird behavior: try changing to the apps's location before running macdeployqt.
I am creating setup of large data approximetly 10 GB with NSIS Script and trying to create a single setup (exe). Its giving an Error -
Internal compiler error #12345: error mmapping file (xxxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxx) is out of range.
Note: you may have one or two (large) stale temporary file(s) left in your temporary directory (Generally this only happens on Windows 9x).
Please tell me how to solve this issue ?
Is there any other way to create a setup for this kinda situation ?
NSIS installers are limited to 2Gb.
If you absolutely need it to be one file and you want to continue to use NSIS you have to append the data to the end of the generated setup. I'm not sure I would recommend that approach but it could work if the appended data is a zip file (or some other format with the header at the end) and you use one of the NSIS zip plugins to extract at run-time...
I have used https://sourceforge.net/projects/nsisbi/ instead of normal NSIS. It solved the problem.
I was using Silent Install Builder 5 and received this same error with a package installer that had LESS that 2 GB total. Once I determined that the NSIS compiler was to blame, I began experimenting with several possible solutions and here's what worked: I downloaded the newer NSISBI compiler from here https://sourceforge.net/projects/nsisbi/ and then did these 3 steps:
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Silent Install Builder 5 and renamed the default NSIS folder to a new name.
Copied the NSISBI folder into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Silent Install Builder 5 directory and renamed IT to NSIS.
Tries to compile some large packages above and just below 2GB and the first few tries I would get missing file errors in the Silent Install Builder 5 compiling box. No worries because the missing files are in the old NSIS folder, that's why y9u don't delete it.
Each time find the missing file error displays, find the missing files and copy them into the same folder location in the new NSIS folder. About 3 times you will do this until there are no more errors at all and you can then include the large files without generating the "internal compiler error #12345: error mmapping file xxxx is out of range." error message. NSISBI works!
I'm trying to use code::blocks debugger. I followed this basic tutorial on how to do it. I also watched two videos on you tube. I was actually trying it on a bigger file which had its declaration & implementation in separate files (one was header file tree.h, one had its implementation tree.cpp & the last one had implementation_tree.cpp main function to check the header file) but it didn't work so I tried it on a very simple program. But now debugger shows this error

Whatever is in this line [debug]Command-line: is the address of my tree.h file which I was trying to debug earlier. But now I've removed all the breakpoints & everything related to that file from Code::Blocks & even changed that file's location but it still shows that same address in Starting debugger:. I've also rebuilt my test program after deleting everything related to it several times but I'm still getting the same error. I'm using GDB.
I'm so sorry if this question sounds very silly as I'm trying this for the first time & not being able to proceed through any tutorials or any other forum or anything else. I've also seen other related questions on stackoverflow but none of them works for me. So, please help. Thanks.
