In an OSX-application I have a main class A and a second class B. Both run a window each, at the same time.
In class A there is a button that plays a movie in an AVPlayerView (called playerView) [The movie is loaded into the PlayerView earlier!]:

This works perfectly fine. The movie is played immediately after clicking the button.
On the other hand, in class B there is a button that calls a method in class A...

...which will run this method in class A:
- (void)playPause {
NSLog(#"A");
[playerView.player play];
}
The problem is, that the Log will be printed out perfectly fine, but anything else that is in this method will be ignored, no matter what is in there. The content of the bracket is being ignored completely, except for the Log.
The solution is probably very easy, but I just cannot come up with any that could possibly work.

I'm a bit perplexed about what I'm trying to accomplish. I have a page view controller that has a data source containing an array list of images. It's actually a tutorial that a user can flip through. What I'm trying to do is make the last page a log in screen so the user can enter info and hit a login button. I thought this would be as simple as adding a login view controller to the array but oooh how wrong I was D: When I tried that I got this error:

Your idea is 100% correct, your implementation is not.
This line:
dataViewController.dataObject = self.pageData[index];
is very suspicious because that will return a UIViewController in the case of your login screen. I would suggest you type-check your page data, if it is already a UIViewController subclass, just return it, if it is (in your case) a UIImage add it as the data object.

I have several ViewControllers that then add this footer view class above to each view as a subview.

Now the actual UIButton within the footer view needs to have its taget different for each viewController it is added to.
So I though it would be best to add the IBAction to the actual view controller then call this via the footer view.
But this is where I have come into a problem. How do I call the parent Controller to init the IBAction(GoToNextPage) from within the footer subview, from the addTarget?
Also would it be easier to have it all within the footer subview and pass in the target required, if so how else would this be done.

I made a very simple class that subclasses NSTextField so I could have more control over the drag and drop behavior, but I'm running into confusion. According to what I think I understand in the apple.developer docs on Dragging destinations, I should be able to get the delegates to fire when I enter or exit the bounds of the text field, but what I get instead is that the delegates don't fire until I have dropped something into the textField and then I try to drag it out.
I have a MyController class which is an NSObject and I have a CustomFields class of type NSTextField; There is nothing in the controller class.

I made sure I assigned the correct class to the fields(CustomFields) in IB and connected them. As you can see, for the moment I would be happy to get log statements at the proper time. I also tried changing the MyController class to NSViewController and NSView so I could try registerForDraggedTypes there. That did'nt help anything and I don't think I should expect it to. I think the behaviors I want should be confined to the CustomFields Class which is one of the reasons the MyController class can be empty for the moment.

I'm working on my first Mac app and I'm having some trouble with getting my NSView and it's delegate methods to work. I have a NSViewController that should response to mouse events, i.e mouseDown. This didn't work, instead I created a custom NSView subclass that looks like this:

Is your first view controller wrapped in a UINavigationController? When you set up your UITabBarController, you should add UINavigationControllers rather than your UIViewController subclasses, e.g.:

Also, based on your code, you don't need to keep your secondViewController as an ivar, since UINavigationController automatically retains its view controllers (and retaining it when you're not displaying it will use up unnecessary memory).
