I'm currently attempting to fix build issues which occured once i tried to update some component. they told me i need to update some references. Oddly enough i now get these issues:
Now i'll just add some text so someone comming from google can find the potential answer as well:
error reading xamarin android.support embedded jar error in opening zip file.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried:
Deleting and restoring nugetpackages, in hopes the nuget install script supplied these files,
Uninstall+Install Support Package in Android SDK Manager
Deleting files, in hope they are just temporary references and are pulled by xamarin if they are missing.
Neither one of those attempts worked out sadly.
Any ideas?
Turns out the reason of this issue was actually my own impatience. At some point after package updates i must have canceled the build process assuming that it got stuck, because it just wouldn't deploy. That resulted in incomplete jar files.
I fixed the issue by deleting the folders in AppData/Local/Xamarin which raised errors and that in turn made sure the build process redownloads the required files properly.

I am developing an Android app using Xamarin.
Visual Studio shows this warning, and I don't know what it means. I've followed the instructions but I can't seem to find the temp\\file
Severity Code Description Project File Line Suppression State Detail Description
Warning IDE0006 Error encountered while loading the project. Some project features, such as full solution analysis for the failed project and projects that depend on it, have been disabled. daijoubu-app 1 Active To see what caused the issue, please try below.
1. Close Visual Studio
2. Open a Visual Studio Developer Command Prompt
3. Set environment variable “TraceDesignTime” to true (set TraceDesignTime=true)
4. Delete .vs directory/.suo file
5. Restart VS from the command prompt you set the environment varaible (devenv)
6. Open the solution
7. Check 'C:\Users\Noli\AppData\Local\Temp\\daijoubu-app_*.designtime.log' and look for the failed tasks (FAILED)
The full source is available on github.
I just followed the instructions but it did not eradicate the warning,
although I ignored it, it does not appear now.
When rebuilding the project, I noticed it takes a long time because it downloads a zipfile on your %userprofile%/AppData/Local/Xamarin/zips/*
-Make sure to not interrupt the build because it will stop downloading and will cause an invalid zip later on, thus reproducing this issue?
Another hypothesis is that I included a component(referenced a dll) and then deleted it, and then re-added it. (as I'm having trouble with intellisense)
Firstly, it's not an 'Error' it's a warning.
Here's what actually happens:
Visual studio/xamarin check for required sdkbuild tools for your project
If you have it already in your SDK then no problem
If not, your project will show above warning in most of project cases.
How to fix this :
Clean your solution
Rebuild it (at this stage visual studio will automatically try to download zips)
If you get Rebuild canceled error, then close visual studio and start again
At this stage it will definitely download required zips.
Again Clean -> Rebuild -> Build -> Close the visual studio and open it again
Or Simplest alternative is
Download all SDKBuild tools available.
Your warning will be gone.
Let me know if it works, coz its worked for me several times.
I too had both Intellisense and compilation issues.
On my Xamarin Forms and Android project, what worked for me is checking out the Resource.Designer.cs file in my Android project, quitting Visual Studio, and then re-opening it.
Hope that helps somebody.
I had this error also. The error was totally my fault, I was adding some strings to my strings.xml file and accidentally left an empty item in there
<string name=""></string>
This broke the R.java file in a really bad way, as the string/resource didn't have a name/id this is how it was created within R.java.
public static final int =0x7f080060;
As you can see it's missing its identifier. The moral of the story is: check all of your XML for any errors.
i had got this warning for 5 days. i applied this suggestion and problem is end.

1) Downloading the zip and installing it didn't solve my issues, I got fewer errors, but in general, the messages stayed the same, Please install package [BLABLA], Unzipping failed,...
2) Next I took a look at the zip file they mention in C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Xamarin\zips and indeed, 96659D653BDE0FAEDB818170891F2BB0.zip was corrupt. I deleted this zip, did build my project again, and after the build process (this takes a while, leave it 'building': you see your zip reappear and growing to 135MB) all the previous warnings/errors were gone!
Save and close your project.
Go to your path folder.
Move the bin and obj folders from the Android folder to another
location.
Run the project again.
Moving these folders means deleting them and backing them up just in case!
I solved it this way. I hope it helps. :)
I also had this annoying experience, in App2.Droid
"Warning IDE0006 Error encountered while loading the project. Some project features, such as full solution analysis for the failed project and projects that depend on it, have been disabled."
... but I seem to have fixed it on my pc.
At certain times when rebuilding my project I also had other errors than the usual ones, telling me

It seems manually putting the unzipped files in place didn't work because VS was still trying to unzip the corrupt zip file.
This zip file is unzipped after the first build of the droid project. I remember initially I manually stopped the building of the droid project several times because it was extremely slow and it appeared to hang: probably the first build action tried to download the zip file and unzip it,
canceling (I might have even shot down VS one time) that build that took like forever (I had a terribly slow internet connection that evening) corrupted the zip.
Note:
in C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Local\Xamarin\zips there are several zip files, my error did tell me the name of the right one.
in C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Local\Xamarin\Xamarin.Android.Support.Design I had several 23.X folders, one with content in its 'content' subdir, and one without: the 23.0.1.3 one, as specified in the error texts.
Edit: basically what #trycatch answered, his first option is confirmed ;)
So all of a sudden a few of the computers at my job stopped working with NuGet.
The problem started with following error.
So I went over and examined the Log file which gave me following errors
Activitylog.xml (layout in the question went haywire - pastebin link)
So naturally I went over to the global config of NuGet just to find it empty. So I reinstalled NuGet, deleted the folder, reinstalled. You know the normal way of doing thing. After finding out that it didn't work, I tried it several times over with rebooting, registry cleaning, etc..
Also tried this VS2013: Error Loading Solution
So after a few tries
I managed to get to this point.
The funny thing about this issue, not all of our computers are having this problem, just certain ones. Anyway, I managed one time to get the right config that the NuGet tool window loaded correctly which gave me another error while building. (Mondays suck).
Error occurred while restoring NuGet packages: Error reading 'FILEPATH\21_MES_ACC\CSD4.WPF4.011DSP\nuget.config'.
So I'm not sure from this point how all these errors came to be and why not everybody is facing the same issue. Did someone face the same error and solved it? Do we need to reinstall things? Is this a NuGet issue? Is there a fix somewhere on the internet ?
Seems like there was an invisible whitespace in the nuget config file which was causing havoc
I'm getting this PBXCp error saying there is no such file or directory even though i checked and the file is there. Tried going into targets and Copy Bundle Resources deleted the file in question from there and adding it again did not solve the issue. Any help is appreciated.
PBXCp is a build utility; it copies files.
Your error is caused by it trying to copy a file, and not being able to put the file at the indicated place.
For instance: I'm getting this error as I try to build an extension for an App that is not building; my issue was that PBXCp is trying to install the extension, which did build properly, into an app bundle (essentially, a directory) that doesn't exist, which fails.
Since you're using CocoaPods, check to see whether anything needs updating or reinstalling. You could also be getting this error if you are using multiple schemes, and the results of one build are needed by a later step. If the first build fails, this error will occur in the later build step.
I had the same issue, just find unnecessary files (they have red title name color)
I had similar issue after I added some extra files in my project by copy pasting them from another. Like suggested by many others, I tried to find the faulty file by checking in Project settings- Building Phases. Dint work. While copying, I also had copied a view controller in my storyboard. I reverted my change and re did it. Worked. May be I made some mistake while changing identifier name or something. Don't know. But if nothing works and u can't figure out what's wrong, undo and redo the copying again step by step. Hope it helps someone.
I'm using an InstallShield project to generate setup files. Everything was working fine, but I've recently encountered following error which says,
Could not compress "bin\x86\QA\AppManifest.xaml" into "\Default
Configuration\MSI
Could not find file
"bin\x86\QA\AppManifest.xaml" ISDEV : error : -6103:
So far I have been unable to fix these issues. Can someone help me understand what I may be doing wrong?
Thought it's late to reply, I came with similar error on dynamic file linking. But, problem was with double slash being on Resource directory.
My problem was, I provided path as : "PATH_TO_HELP_FILES\Docs\", while i removed the last \ on path i.e PATH_TO_HELP_FILES\Docs, the problem was gone.
It could be the AppManifest.xaml is missing from the source folder? I think this is the most likely scenario - your application build could have failed, and this particular file could be missing?
You could also have a file lock in the build output folder - did you try to reboot and rebuild?
You can also try to run the release wizard and make a new release configuration and try to build that

Another late reply. For my situation, I merged multiple branches together, and something is lost along the way. It was probably a setting file or something with the gitignore file. Anyways, I got that same -1501 could not compress file error. The reason was the build order of projects in the solution. Incorrect build order caused VS to look for dependencies when they were not yet created or included. I right-clicked on the solution, went to the Dependencies tab to set the order (by setting dependencies). Once that was done, I could Clean Solution and Rebuild Solution without getting any error.
I'm posting this in hopes to help several folks who may be struggling the same way I am. I was just trying to fix my run configuration for a basic Android project in Android Studio when things went haywire. Ever since 2 updates ago my run config stopped working. It was somehow pointing to an apk path that had been changed. Something in the latest AS updates changes where the apk is built to without updating existing run configs. Long story lengthened…
I tried creating a new run config then tried running the old config. I got an error saying that I probably needed to sync my project with my Gradle build file. I clicked the "Refresh all GRadle Projects" sync-looking button in the Gradle tasks window when everything went awry. My module completely disappeared from the project! I tried re-importing from project settings then I started to get an error:
Could not install Gradle distribution from 'http://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-1.8-bin.zip
I couldn't figure this out because I didn't have this problem earlier and also I noticed my module file had been completely deleted! I tried a few more times before looking at the Android Studio logs which said something about it couldn't unzip the gradle 1.8 bundle or something. I realized it was trying to download something and that I was on paid wifi in an airport so the download couldn't complete. I then payed for wifi so that the download could complete and tried re-importing the project. I STILL got the error! After few more attempts I decided to check under ~/.gradle where I found and deleted "wrapper/dists/gradle-1.8-bin folder thinking the earlier download was corrupt and confusing AS. That seemed to get things going again as the next attempt triggered a download/install of something that allowed me to continue to the next step.
I'm currently still trying to re-import and set the module up again and it feels like a lot of re-work. I eventually got to a point where I was told my version of gradle was too old... (I have Gradle-1.7) I'm just throwing this out there now in case anyone else hits their head the way I just did. It can be an expensive mistake. (I'm still paying for Wifi so I can send this!)
I've finally figured out my issue. My build.gradle was set to use 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:0.5.+', which is incompatible with the latest version of Android Studio. After duplicating my project folder in Finder, updating to the latest Gradle, and tweaking the plugin version I am finally able to sync my project. I hope this post saves someone else a headache!
