configure openCV Qt new functions - visual-studio

I'm struggling with the step from the official documentation
Extract it into a nice and short named directory like D:/OpenCV/dep/qt/ . Then you need to build it. Start up a Visual Studio Command Prompt (2010) by using the start menu search (or navigate through the start menu All Programs ‣ Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 ‣ Visual Studio Tools ‣ Visual Studio Command Prompt (2010)).

Now navigate to the extracted folder and enter inside it by using this console window. You should have a folder containing files like Install, Make and so on. Use the dir command to list files inside your current directory. Once arrived at this directory enter the following command:
configure.exe -release -no-webkit -no-phonon -no-phonon-backend -no-script -no-scripttools
-no-qt3support -no-multimedia -no-ltcg
...
My issue is that in this document Qt 4.7.3 was used, now, I dont know about that version because I wasn't able to find it but in the newer one there is not Install, Make files...
which ones should I use instead?
does anyone has any step for more recent version of Qt and VS that I can follow to get this done

I turns out I wasn't using the source file, which you can find here found the folder which contains the configuration and INTALLS files on the new version in a folder called qtbase continued with the steps from there on the OPENCV guide and everything worked alright on MSVS2012

Leptonica on Windows + Visual Studio

I have followed the following steps for installing Leptonica on Windows with Visual Studio

(a) Building with Visual Studio
1. Download the latest SW
(Software Network https://software-network.org/)
client from https://software-network.org/client/
2. Unpack it, add to PATH.
3. Run once to perform cmake integration:
sw setup
4. Run:

5. Build a solution (leptonica.sin) in your Visual Studio version.
I did everything except for step 5.

I cannot seem to find leptonica.sin and how to integrate with visual studio ? I need the steps that are left. I am new to visual studio please mind my question.

You probably already figured this out (I'd hope) but if not... Step #5 as you listed has a typo:
Build a solution (leptonica.sin) in your Visual Studio version.
It's supposed to be leptonica.sLn, as in a Visual Studio Solution file.
In your build directory listing you have leptonic.sln. If you double-click that it should open in Visual Studio (assuming a default/correct install).
With Visual Studio 2019 at least you don't actually have to generate a solution file with CMake manually like this as Visual Studio now supports opening folders that contain CMakeLists.txt files as though they are solutions.
You can just do the following to build Leptonica on Windows:
Download sw-master-windows-client.zip from https://software-network.org/client/.
Unzip sw.exe to some directory sw_dir.
Add sw_dir to your path environment variable. Log out and log in to make sure the path is updated.
Enter power shell etc. and run "sw setup" from a command line.
Git clone Leptonica to some directory from https://github.com/danbloomberg/leptonica
Start up Visual Studio.
Choose "Open local folder" from the intitial dialog VS presents you with. Select the Leptonica folder.
At this point Visual Studio will begin running CMake on the folder and it should succeed assuming it can find sw.exe. This step takes a while. After it completes you can build all from the build toplevel menu.

Is there a way to change the extensions folder location for Visual Studio Code?

I've put Visual Studio Code on OneDrive, for the purpose of syncing it with its settings across my devices.
However, extensions are stored in %USERPROFILE%\.vscode\extensions on Windows.
Is it possible to change this folder's location so I can put it in the main Visual Studio Code folder?
At first I thought that copying the extensions in the resources\app\extensions of Visual Studio Code folder will be a nice workaround, but that doesn't work.
I've also searched for a solution on the documentation page and in the user settings, with no results.
What I did - after installing Visual Studio Code for the first time, I checked the documentation and added at the end of 'Target' field of editor's shortcut the following (there's a space before the two dashes):
--extensions-dir="DRIVELETTER:\VSCODE\extensions"
--user-data-dir="DRIVELETTER:\VSCODE\settings"
where DRIVERLETTER and VSCODE are the corresponding drive and directory where Visual Studio Code is installed. So mine looks like this:
"D:\Microsoft VS Code\Code.exe" --extensions-dir="D:\Microsoft VS Code\extensions"
Here is for the user data directory:
"D:\Microsoft VS Code\Code.exe" --user-data-dir="D:\Microsoft VS Code\settings"
Accessing the 'Target' field is done by right-clicking the shortcut and choosing 'Properties'
Anyway, there's a simpler solution to that problem - just use the portable version of Visual Studio Code. It works under Windows, Linux, and macOS:

After unzipping the Visual Studio Code download, simply create a data folder within Visual Studio Code's folder:
|- VSCode-win32-x64-1.25.0-insider
| |- Code.exe (or code executable)
| |- data
| |- ...
From then on, that folder will be used to contain all Visual Studio Code data, including session state, preferences, extensions, etc.
The data folder can be moved to other Visual Studio Code installations. This is useful for updating your portable Visual Studio Code version: simply move the data folder to a newer extracted version of Visual Studio Code.
macOS
On macOS, you need to place the data folder as a sibling of the application itself. Since the folder will be alongside the application, you need to name it specifically so that Code can find it. The default folder name is code-portable-data:

Portable mode won't work if your application is in quarantine, which happens by default if you just downloaded Visual Studio Code. Make sure you remove the quarantine attribute, if portable mode doesn't seem to work:

Note: On Insiders, the folder should be named code-insiders-portable-data.

Note: Do not attempt to configure portable mode on an installation from the Windows User or System installers. Portable mode is only supported on the Windows ZIP (.zip) archive. Note as well that the Windows ZIP archive does not support auto update.
A little hack:
Create a symbolic link to the folder %USERPROFILE%\.vscode\extensions under the Visual Studio Code install path.

Set the root path for extensions.
Follow the below steps for changing the extension path in VS.
Set "code" path in environment variable.
path = VS_CODE_INSTALL_DIRECTORY/bin;
Open VS , in VS terminal execute the below command.
code --extensions-dir "new_directory_path"
Install the required extension.

According to this page, after installing VS Code we should make a language profilers folder like this:
mkdir code_profiles
cd code_profiles
mkdir code-ruby
cd code-ruby
mkdir exts
mkdir data
For Windows, I prepared a batch file (.bat) for each language I work on, it contains this line:
Start "" "D:\programs\VSCode\code.exe" --extensions-dir D:\programs\VSCode\code_profiles\code-python\exts --user-data-dir D:\programs\VSCode\code_profiles\code-python\data .
This is for Python. If I work on PHP, I will make code-php folder, then make exts and data folders in it and prepare another batch file for PHP, just like the one I made for python.
I put this batch file on the main project folder then double click on it to run VS Code with the preferred profile.

How to generate vcvarsall.bat

My visual Studio 2015 installed without vcvarsall.bat.
This is not about how to find this file and I am also not a python developer.
MSDN states at the bottom of this page:
The vcvarsall.bat file can vary from computer to computer. Do not
replace a missing or damaged vcvarsall.bat file by using a file from
another computer. Rerun Visual Studio Setup to replace the missing
file.
I am running the installation through our local IT department so I only get a fixed version of the setup. It looks like this setup does not install the batch file.
I wonder what other means of generating this "file" (actually it is several files and a folder structure) there are - how does the visual studio setup generate this file and is that generation possible without running the whole setup?
You have some option to "install" vcvarsall.bat.
The obvious to rerun VS setup and add c++ features (maybe your IT dep is kind enough and...)
Install visual c++ build tools
Install windows sdk (select c++ related components)

FreeGLUT 3.0.0 Visual Studio solution?

Where is the Visual Studio solution for FreeGLUT 3.0.0? I know the 2.8.1 has one, but 3.0.0 does not. I would really like to use the latest version.
Use the included CMakeLists.txt to create a Visual Studio solution:
How to build freeglut with CMake on Windows (MS Visual Studio)
Download CMake (http://www.cmake.org/cmake/resources/software.html).
Get one of the releases from the binary distribution section.
Run the CMake installer, install wherever you like.
Launch CMake via Start > Program Files > CMake 2.8 > CMake (GUI)
(note that the shortcut put by the installer on your desktop does NOT
point to the CMake GUI program!)
In the "Where is the source code" box, type or browse to the root
directory of your freeglut source (so that's /freeglut, not
/freeglut/src).
In the "Where to build the binaries" box, type or browse to any
folder you like - this will be where the Visual Studio solution will be
generated. This folder does not have to exist yet.
Hit the Configure button near the bottom of the window.
Pick your target compiler, make sure that its installed on your
system of course!
Answer Ok when asked if you want to create the build directory.
Wait for the configure process to finish.
The screen will now have some configuration options on it, for
instance specifying whether you want to build static and/or shared
libraries (see below for a complete list). When you've selected your
options, click the Configure button again.
The Generate button at the bottom will now be enabled. Click Generate.
The build files will now be generated in the location you picked.
You can now navigate to the build directory you specified in step 5.
Open the freeglut.sln file that was generated in your build directory,
and compile as usual

QtWebKit for Qt Visual Studio Add-in

I want to learn how to use QtWebKit by creating a simple project, but I can't even install it. I found some tutorials like this, but it's for the standard Qt package. I am using for another project the Visual Studio Qt Add-in, so I don't want to uninstall it.
I found some WebKit source code in Qt-VS, but I don't know what to do with it. It does not contain any Perl script so the tutorial above is not good for it, but it does contain some makefiles. Or should I download the QtWebKit package separately, and follow the tutorial above? Will it generate compatible libraries? (I could not find any Qt command prompt, and the tutorial says the VS command prompt must be compatible. How do I know it?) Also, where should I move the binaries generated, so the project made with the built-in Qt template in Visual Studio to be able to find these new files?
Sorry for these lame questions, but I get lost really fast when it comes to building stuff from source and not given in binary form.
I would appreciate any feedback or link to stuff

The only thing I could pull of is to install another copy of Qt, the normal one, and use it for the WebKit project changing the Qt environment variable value each time I'm switching the project, but that would be the lamest thing ever.
Download the Qt 4.7.3 source code:

Unzip and copy to a convenient location.
Open a Visual Studio 2010 command prompt.
You may need to run the command prompt as administrator. To do this, go to Start Menu > All Programs > Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 > Visual Studio Tools, right-click on Visual Studio Command Prompt (2010) and select Run as administrator.
To make a 64-bit build, select Visual Studio x64 Win64 Command Prompt (2010) instead.
Change the working directory to the Qt top folder.
Run the commands:
configure.exe -platform win32-msvc2010
nmake
Wait an hour.
This will build Qt, with all components, including QtWebKit.

You need to install Perl. I used "ActiveState Perl"
You need to install WinFlex and WinBison. For some reason the QT script refers to the flex as "win_flex" but tries to find an executable called "bison.exe." I renamed "win_bison" to "bison.exe" and it worked.
I was also able to configure it successfully and build for msvc2012
configure.exe -platform win32-msvc2012
nmake
And it didn't take a few hours on my machine. Just about 55 minutes.
