Visual Studio Cordova App, can't run debugger - Could not locate the appxrecipe file - visual-studio

If I create a brand new Cordova project (JavaScript or TypeScript) and try to debug on Ripple or on the local machine I get an error during build that says "Could not locate the appxrecipe file."
I googled it and nothing comes up. What is this file and how does it get generated? Shouldn't it be generated when I create the project?
I've already lost an entire day to this, running repairs on visual studio and trying things that had no effect. Frustrating!

This took a while to figure out but it seems that the version of node.js that would get installed with Visual Studio was too old (0.10.x). When I installed the x64 version of node.js from the node website, it installed a 64 bit version which also wouldn't work with Cordova in Visual Studio.
The answer was to install the 32bit version of node.js (node-v5.1.0-x86.msi) available from their website. Now everything compiles correctly!

I was also stucked with the issue but my problem was little bit different. I wanted to build a project for Windows 10 Mobile platform.
It was really weird because everytime when I tried to build a project from CLI with ionic build windows, the build was successul. But it had been throwing the error about appxrecipe file while building with Visual Studio again and again.
Then I noticed that everytime I open a project in Visual Studio (2015, Community Edition) there is one change when you open your confix.xml file in Visual Studio editor - the change was that Windows Target Version was set to 8.1 again. I tried to change it to Windows 10 again, save it and build but the error was still there.
I have solved it with installation of Microsoft Emulator for Windows 10 Mobile and it works like a charm now. Maybe this information could be helpful for somebody...

Problem with installing Windows SDK for visual studio 2022 community

I'm trying to install Visual Studio to make GUI C++ apps and Everything installs correctly except SDK..
Its saying couldn't install win10 SDK and I Literally tried Every version of SDK and it gives the same error and i cant even run a c+ + Hello world program without SDK. then I tried using SDK ISO file that I downloaded from Microsoft website.. that also shows me this error.
What does this mean what file was not found ?
SDK's error image
and this is the setup log image
I will be happy to get a solution for this problem

Could not find SDK "WindowsMobile, Version=10.0.18362.0" error in VS17 when deploying to HoloLens

I'm new to HoloLens (and Microsoft's ecosystem) and am following this tutorial to learn. One of the steps is to deploy from Visual Studios to HoloLens, but when I try to I get this run-time error.
I have confirmed that I have followed this guide from Microsoft to set up my development environment, but my error still persists.
In Unity, these are by build settings and Player settings as instructed in the tutorial:
My Windows 10 computer is running on 1903, my HoloLens is on 1804, and I have both Windows SDK 10.0.17x and 10.0.18x installed on my computer (via Visual Studios installer and this link). I have also tested deploying the app using the 10.0.17x SDK, but end with the same results.
I can simulate my app from Unity using the Holographic Remoting app in HoloLens, but I just can't deploy it from Visual Studios. What is causing this error and how can I solve it?
Update:
I have tried re-installing the Windows 10 SDK (both 10.0.17x and 10.0.18x), but this did not resolve the problem. My Windows 10 SDK is installed in my D: drive if that would make any difference.
Update 2:
I read somewhere that if you simply delete those files from the project tree in Visual Studios, the error will go away. Indeed it did and I could build and run just fine after that seemly without issue, but there must be something wrong with deleting SDK files like that... Is deleting them safe?
Thank you for your help!
I managed to get this to work by deleting the reference to the Mobile SDK in the vxcproj file. It doesn't seem to be required!
App deployed to Hololens successfully!
According to the error message from the picture you post, there seems to be a problem with your Windows 10 sdk. Please check if the files in this directory are damaged (C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Extension SDKs\WindowsMobile\10.0.18362.0), and try to reinstall the Windows10 SDK:https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/windows-10-sdk

VS2015 Unable to Create New Windows 10 UWP Project or Build Existing Windows UWP Samples

When I try to create a new Windows 10 UWP, or open or build existing samples or projects, I get the following error:
The imported project "C:\Program Files
(x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\WindowsXaml\v14.0\8.2\Microsoft.Windows.UI.Xaml.CSharp.targets"
was not found. Confirm that the path in the declaration is correct,
and that the file exists on disk
I am running VS2015 Enterprise on Windows 10 Pro. Windows 10 SDK (10240) and Emulators installed. Have re-installed VS2015 several times without luck. There is no v14.0\8.2 folder on my machine. Tried to copy the v14.0\8.1 folder to create v14.0\8.2 folder but this only allows you to load the project or create new ones, but build fails. This is driving me crazy.
Note: An earlier install of same VS2015 ISO and SDK on Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation was running successfully until I had to re-format a few days ago when I upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 10 Pro. I have now also tried to install a clean copy of Windows 10 Enterprise, re-install VS2015 with SDK and emulators, and yet no luck. Same error keeps repeating.
Any suggestions on where/how to create the v14.0\8.2 folder would be appreciated.
The solution is to navigate to Control Panel | Uninstall a program and to select Visual Studio 2015. This allows you modify you existing Visual Studio 2015 installation. When you install, it is recommended to select the "install all" features which added the templates.
This blog should be helpful for you.
Besides, what's the exact version of VS2015 and Win10 you installed?

Can't create a UWP app

I recently, upgraded to Windows 10 and got Visual Studio 2015 Community hoping to build UWP apps and ASP.Net 5 apps. At first, I installed everything, but ended up skipping / canceling the Windows 8.1 / 10 mobile emulators (my PC can't even run them). After everything was installed, I went to create a new UWP app (C#), and got this error:
Next, I try the same thing, but with JavaScript. It works perfectly! on the same UAP 10.0.0.0 that is supposedly missing. The link it provides is completely useless (it sends me to http:/microsoft.com/en-us) -_-. Oddly, this only happens when I try to use C# or VB.Net, JavaScript UWP apps seem to work fine. What is going on here? Where can I find the real link to the SDK I need?
UPDATE
JavaScript UWP apps will be create just fine, but when I attempt to build, I get:
Error "10.0.0.0" is not a supported value forTargetPlatformVersion.
Please change it on the Project Property page. Test
C:\Program Files (x86) \MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v14.\JavaScript\Microsoft.VisualStudio.JavaScript.UAP.targets
This is the download link for the standalone SDK, maybe reinstalling the sdk will fix the problem.

Normally you don't always have to reinstall visual studio when something goes wrong because it takes a lot of time to reinstall again. From your question you skipped/cancel that feature, the first thing to do is go to the control panel and double click on visual studio under programs to Modify the software and enable those features.
In the case, visual studio was working properly before but due to some updates it stopped, go to control panel right click the visual studio version you have under programs to repair.
If the above doesn't work try to reinstall it again. I hope this helps.

Windows 8.1 Apps not Compiling

Recently, I needed to refresh my Windows 8.1 PC, and now that I have finally finished getting all of my programs reinstalled and everything is back to normal, I am ready to finish work on my Windows 8.1 app, but I am having an issue with compiling my apps. Every time I try to compile, I get the following error.
Now normally when I need to refresh my developer licesnse, Visual Studio tells me, but this time I didn't get any prompt at all, and that is the error that I got when trying to compile. How can I fix this? I am installing updates for Visual STudio at the moment, and I am hoping that doing so will somehow magically fix the problem, but I am also aware that it probably won't.
EDIT: Now that I have updated, the message has been shortened to "Can't resolve Windows.metadata."
For some reason, even though the Windows 8.1 SDK is supposed to be installed with Visual Studio Ultimate 2013, it wasn't for me. I was able to find the Windows 8.1 SDK by Googling it, and it came up as the top result. I installed it, and suddenly all of my errors went away and Visual Studio started recognizing them as legitimate Windows 8.1 app code.
