java.lang.IllegalStateException after adding rich faces libraries to pom.xml - maven

I am trying to run my first JSF application using RichFaces. Unfortunately the error below is being thrown. There is no bean added to my project.
Also, there's no tags added yet. Just trying to run simple empty xhtml
file. What is the problem?
I'm using Eclipse Luna 4.4.2, GlassFish 4, and OSX.

According to this JSF 2.2.7 is the culprit. You can either downgrade JSF to 2.2.6 or update Richfaces to 4.5.

Spring Webservices using Apache CXF is not getting deployed in the client server (weblogic)

I am working on building spring webservices for an application. I am using apache cxf for creating webservices and maven for building the war. I am using weblogic 12c to deploy the webservice in my PC. I am using "org.codehaus.jackson.jaxrs.JacksonJsonProvider" as the jsonProvider. The code gets deployed in the server running machine without any errors. But when i try to deploy the same code in the client machine that has weblogic 12.2.1 the deployment fails with the following error:
"Jersey" failed to preload on startup in Web application:
"broker-ws.war".

I am not explicitly referencing Jersey anywhere in my project, but i am using jax-rs which is looking for Jersey.The weblogic server in my machine had Jersey jars, but the weblogic present in the client machine did not have Jersey jars. I tried adding the following jars to my pom.xml:

Can someone tell me what i am missing here.I tried various solutions given over the internet, but nothing worked for me.
Finally found the root cause for the issue. It was the spring webapp version, which was making the weblogic server look for jersey dependency. I changed the webapp version from 3.0 to 2.5 and the error is gone. Hope this helps somebody who will run into this issue as this took nearly two days to figure what was actually happening.

404 /index.xhtml Not Found in ExternalContext as a Resource

I am aware that there are similar questions related to this topic. However, none of the answers did help me and I simply can't get my Intellij/Tomcat running correctly.
Tomcat is not able to find any *.xhtml or plain html file. Every single time I try to run the project out of IntellIj I just get the error mentioned in the title. I also tried deploying the project with maven. Didn't work out well (same problem).
I installed Tomcat with Xampp in the default location C:\xampp on a Win10 64 bit machine. Here is how my project is structured:
I defined all my dependencies in the pom.xml plus the plugin to deploy the web app on tomcat:
<dependency>

I no longer have any idea whatsoever what this could be. Checked URLs multiple times, threw away that declaration for the virtual /faces/* folder in the web.xml. Here's my full web.xml:

I can't understand the error. Could anyone help me to solve the problem.
In reference to Shrikant's post - sort of.
When using Tomcat, you definitely do not want to include Tomcat's jar files in your WEB-INF/lib folder.
The jars are coming from your Maven dependencies on Spring Boot.
Specify that the spring-boot jars are provided in your pom, like so
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-web</artifactId>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
This caused me a bit of aggravation, until I looked at the expanded pom's Dependency Hierarchy and saw where the tomcat jars were coming from. Once I changed the scope to provided instead of compile on the spring-boot dependencies, my pages loaded just fine.
Shrikant -> Nothing against your answer really, I just don't care to delete jars from my lib directory and then build a war, when I can just clean, package, install, and deploy all in one go, clicking one button.
I was also facing same problem, but i got the solution.
If you are using Tomcat server, then You must not put tomcat's jar files into WEB-INF/lib. Tomcat already has thoses classes, and they must be loaded by the root tomcat classloader, not by the web-app classloader.
So check your WEB-INF/lib folder and delete all the tomcat's jar.(e.g: tomcat-api-8.0.0-RC1.jar, tomcat-juli-8.0.0-RC1.jar, tomcat-util-8.0.0-RC1.jar, tomcat-servlet-api-8.0.0-RC1.jar).
instead of configuring in web.xml, use a class which implements SpringBootServletInitializer,

org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet not found with VMWare vFabric tc Server and maven

I know that there is a previously posted question that is very similar to this one. But the solution doesn't apply to my problem.
I'm trying to start a basic Spring project with Maven.
This is my pom.xml:
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">

I am using VMWare vFabric tc Server Developer Edition v2.6 (the one that comes with STS). When I run the webapp with it, I get the following error:

I know it must have to do with the dependencies, but in the Maven dependencies the jar spring-webmvc-3.1.1.RELEASE.jar contains the class that the error says is missing.
So it seems that the server doesn't know that the library is there.
Does anyone know what could be happening?
Thanks!
In project options you should include Maven Dependencies to your Deployment Assembly
Project properties-> Deployment Assembly -> Add..
Java Build Path Entries -> Maven Dependencies
Finish
upd: Please also note that you should set packaging to war in your project pom.xml
<packaging>war</packaging> and then use Maven->Update Project.. if you are using eclipse maven plugin to update STS project periodically.
You must include maven dependencies in the deployment assembly - they are not being deployed to the webserver. That's how you fix that error in eclipse, I guess STS will be similar.

java.lang.ClassFormatError: Absent Code attribute in method that is not native or abstract in class file javax/faces/webapp/FacesServlet

I want to use Mojarra 2.1 with Tomcat 7,
so I added following dependencies in my pom file:
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.faces</groupId>
<artifactId>jsf-api</artifactId>
<version>2.1.2</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.faces</groupId>
<artifactId>jsf-impl</artifactId>
<version>2.1.2</version>
</dependency>
However, when I tried to start Tomcat, I got following exception:

I have the same problem as you and found out that change from servlet-api to javax.servlet.api will fix the problem. Hope this help. Please note that, I am using Juno Eclipse, Tomcat 7, Dynamic Web Module 3.0, and JDK 1.7.
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.faces</groupId>

I have the same problem, and it seams somehow to
<groupId>javax</groupId>
<artifactId>javaee-web-api</artifactId>
or
<groupId>javax</groupId>
<artifactId>javaee-api</artifactId>
after setting them to scope provides (or delete them at all when you start an server in maven test) it starts working for me.
#See this Blog: java.lang.ClassFormatError : Absent Code attribute in method that is not native or abstract in class file … - It discuss the problem for javax.persistence.GenerationType but I think you and I hit the same problem.
Change:
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.faces</groupId>
<artifactId>jsf-impl</artifactId>
<version>2.1.2</version>
</dependency>
To:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.glassfish</groupId>
<artifactId>javax.faces</artifactId>
<version>2.1.6</version>
</dependency>
This workaround fixed it for me:
https://rogerkeays.com/java-lang-classformaterror-exception-with-eclipselink-static-weaving-solved
I traded to glassfish-embedded-all and resolved this.
<dependency>
<groupId>org.glassfish.main.extras</groupId>
<artifactId>glassfish-embedded-all</artifactId>
<version>3.1.2.2</version>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
