How to install redis-3.0.7 on windows 10 ?. I have downloaded the package and followed the installation procedure on http://redis.io/download.
C:\Downloads\redis-3.0.7>make
'make' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
A quick way is to use chocolatey as there is an approved redis-64 package available (redis-3.0.5 which is up to date).
see: https://chocolatey.org/packages/redis-64/
> choco install redis-64
Redis doesn't support windows officially but there is unofficial port for redis on windows github repo, installation instructions are available on there

I'm running version 20H2 (OS Build 19042) on windows home edition, i built a linux kernel and im trying to set it up on my machine by configuring the .wslconfig file as follow:
[wsl2]
kernel=c:\\wslkernel\\bzImage
everything is at place according to the documentation - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/wsl-config
any ideas what could have gone wrong?
turns out i was running wsl version 1 and not wsl2 - for the full thread on the issue:

I was trying to install Atom in Kali Linux Live.
And after command
dpkg -i ~/Downloads/atom-amd64.deb
I get error
dpkg: error: cannot access archive '/root/Downloads/atom-amd64.deb': No such file or directory
I have tried as both root and non-root users
I am using Kali Linux Live with Persistence (Bootable USB)
Same kind of thing happens with Visual Studio code too.
You may have to install kali Linux on the device as Kali Linux Live provides the tools for hacking. If you want to install software, then you have to install Kali or manually install it without a package.
Check out this Reddit post about the issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions/comments/4zgrzs/is_it_possible_to_install_software_on_kali_linux/

Currently, I am learning to use "BASH" and I don't know how to download it on my pc.
So it would be appreciated if someone lets me know how to download it on WINDOWS 8.1.
You have basically two choices.
Install Git for Windows. Git comes with its own bash.
Install the Windows Ubuntu sub system.
I prefer the Git bash approach because this also knows other Windows installed applications. The Ubuntu sub system acts more separated.
Have fun.

I just downloaded Ubuntu for Windows and want to start programming in this environment. Unfortunately, all the files and packages needed are on my VMWare Ubuntu. I found instructions to save all my configs and packages to move to another machine, but how do I move that folder to my Ubuntu on Windows?
You could enable folder sharing. The guide https://www.vmware.com/support/ws3/doc/ws32_running9.html is old (sorry I clicked on the first google hit) so search for a newer one. Also if your "Ubuntus" are running in GUI folder you could just send them to the cloud and pull it back down from the other machine.

for creating SSL certificate run this command.
selfssl /N:CN=*.mydomain.com /V:9999e
following error occurred in command prompt.
'selfss' is not recognized as an internal or external command in command prompt.
and i am also try in Developer Command Prompt for VS2012.
Have you installed the iis 6 resource kit tools (from here)?
If so, then you need to run the StartSSL command prompt (start->IIS resources->startssl->startssl)
Then you can issue your commands.
