I am having trouble configuring Jetty to run with Spring MVC, which is getting a bit frustrating.
Overall the configuration works, since if I run it with tomcat works fine. As soon as I try to add jetty and configure the build, it blows up and gives me the following error
22:21:58.663 [main] ERROR o.s.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet - Context initialization failed
The cause of this error seems to be related to
Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException: class path resource [persistence.properties] cannot be opened because it does not exist
[WARNING] unavailable
org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanDefinitionStoreException: Failed to parse configuration class [com.helloworld.config.WebConfig]; nested exception is java.io.FileNotFoundExcepti
on: class path resource [persistence.properties] cannot be opened because it does not exist
But how is this a problem? It works file when I use Tomcat, and there is no issues with classpaths, and locating my files.

I think the issue is within pom and how it's set up?
Related
I have created a maven based spring project and successfully completed it and now this project can run on browser with localhost:8080 server i want to share my project with other and i don't want to make the code is visible or he get only executable form of project so how does it possible ?
I can share my database to that person (mysql)
And spring project with executable form (without code part)
I have created this project as
Maven Project
and then added some dependencies

When you compile the spring-boot project it will create a jar in build folder(if that is not the case then need to tweak config to create a jar file).
You can share that jar, other person can execute that jar using simple java command.
java -jar spring-project-name.jar
There is application on spring.
Result of build procedure is creation of war file.
When I deploy on local tomcat, everything ok
When try to deploy to remote machine - there is error running remote.

My intelij idea customizations are:
Is there any addition configs for idea or may be from remote tomcat?
https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/creating-a-remote-server-configuration.html
there is information step by step
I am trying to build an app when I run this app it works as per my log outputs (I put in logs in controller calls) but I can access the jsp pages(404 error).
When I look in the target folder for output, it does not include the view folder where the jsp pages are located.
How can I rectify this error.

I found the solution to my problem. For some reason the setting for the project changed (baffling).
Here is how I solved my problems
I deleted the .idea folder
Clean installed maven
I went to file -> project structure -> Artifacts Then under I
re-added my webapp folder as web directory contents.
finally I right clicked on the project went to maven and reimported
all the jar files.
----victory---
Hi I searched this forum for getting the solution of the above problem and some one quoted that using maven's dependency management this kind of issue be rectified. But I generally do not much aware of spring dependency issues so I am posting this problem here.

How should I utilize maven's dependency management to rectify the above issue. please help.
here is reference for this kind of problem from SO
Try this :
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.security</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-security-web</artifactId>
<version>3.1.4.RELEASE</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-asm</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
</dependency>
I'm attempting to manually bootstrap the dispatcherservlet as an exercise. The code is
ServletRegistration.Dynamic dispatcher = container.addServlet("appServlet", new DispatcherServlet(appContext));
I'm using javax.servlet-api-3.0.1 (which has addServlet) but I'm getting a method undefined error. However, when I use code complete, the addServlet method appears, even though eclipse IDE tells me the method is undefined for type ServletContext. I'm also using eclipse juno with glassfish. I guess I have some sort of jar conflict - but where? The full error when I try to run is as follows:
SEVERE: Exception while invoking class com.sun.enterprise.web.WebApplication start method
java.lang.Exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException: ContainerBase.addChild: start: org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problem:

Verify what other libraries you have on your build path. It is possible that one of them has a different version of Javax.Servlet. If you cannot remove the additional jar then try changing the order order the libraries are loaded.
I was also facing the same problem but I found the solution:
I was using spring 4.0.4 as dependency and my servlet dependency was
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>servlet-api</artifactId>
<version>2.5</version>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
This servlet dependency is not compatible with spring 4.x . To make it compatiple I changed it:
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>servlet-api</artifactId>
<version>3.1.0</version>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
Now it is working. Hope this will help you!
the correct artifact is:
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>javax.servlet-api</artifactId>
<version>3.1.0</version>
</dependency>
I faced the same problem and then found older version of servlet-api.jar in my classpath, to fix the problem I removed that file and added newer version of file from apache-tomcat-7.0.59\lib
Removed old servlet jar, reloaded Pom with:
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>javax.servlet-api</artifactId>
<version>3.1.0</version>
<scope>provided</scope>
