Add empty first row in smart field - drop-down-menu

in eclipse scout mars:
how to add empty row in smart field, so user can select nothing and he is not forced to select some value in smart field.
In sql if I add SELECT 0, '' UNION SELECT id, name FROM users...is working ok, empty row is show, but in modify value is not populated.
Thanks.

I am not sure if Eclipse Scout supports this construct of a row having an empty text.
The way to clear a value in a SmartField is to delete the text. In this case the value of the SmartField is set to null. If the value is not mandatory the user can save the form.
Can you check if this would work with your example.
Can you check if it would work if you add some text associated with your 0 value. Something like "(empty)" or "---"

Kentico 12: change value of one page type field based on value of another field

I have a custom page type with two fields, StateName and StateCode. I would like it so that when a value is selected in either of these fields, the other field’s value changes to match.
So for example, if I select “Alabama” in the StateName field, the value of the StateCode field would automatically change to “AL.” Or if I select “CO” in the StateCode field, the StateName field would automatically change to “Colorado,” etc. Is this possible?
(I have to keep these as two separate fields, because I need to display either the state name or the state code on the front-end depending on context. Therefore, I can’t use a single field with options like AL;Alabama because then the field only returns the value AL and I have no way of getting the display name Alabama).
I know Kentico has options for setting “dependent” fields, but that only appears to determine visibility – e.g. only display Field B if I select a particular value in Field A. I can’t find a way to actually change the selected value in one field based on the selected value in another field.
Two control solution seems some kind of an overkill here. You can use StateInfoProvider to get what you want.
StateInfo state = StateInfoProvider.GetStateInfo("Alabama")
The other way would be to use a simple drop down control and use
query like that :
select stateCode + '|'+ StateDisplayName, StateDisplayName from cms_State
to get get code and display name as value separated by |

How to use previous in crystal report and display not null.

I want to suppress the duplicate and display only one value but the previous is only displaying the first record i have first record blank or "null" and the second is not null the previous is displaying the first value.
I Solved my problem using this codes.
PreviousIsNull({#Q3}) or {#Q3} <> Previous({#Q3}) and PreviousIsNull({#E3}) or {#E3} <> Previous({#E3});
Select the field you want and select on the properties suppress on duplicate

How do you show all rows with missing fields in Crystal Reports?

I'm struggling with Crystal Reports suppressing rows whenever I add a field that some rows may not have data in.
I've been able to fix some of the rows and make them show by using the formula:
if not isnull({field}) then {field} else "Arbitrary string to make row display"
This at least fills in the absent field with something and displays the row.
Do I really have to try and identify every field that may have incomplete data for some rows? Or is there some global method to make all rows show no matter what?
Something like: If isnull(ANYTHING) then " "?
you can do right click on the field, then under suppress, click the formula icon beside it and you can input there the conditions.
You can try the following in report options:
Convert Database NULL values to Default
Convert Other NULL values to Default.
This is hidden in File > Report Options. I have used Convert Database NULL Values to default to show 0's instead of blanks for null valued summaries

How to allow user to add information for every fields in forms

i have a strange user request: they want to be able to say for every fields in every forms from where they get information used to compile it.
value must be selected from a list
essentially iam looking a way to avoid to double the fields.
one way can be add a M:M table where link field-name and information-source
but using this for retrive from real data table only fields derived from an info-source can be really bad
EDIT
to be more clear the solution i want to avoid is to have a data table like this:
fieldname1
fieldname1Origin
fieldname2
fieldname2Origin
fieldname3
fieldname3Origin
...
but i do the link table in this way:
FieldName
OriginId
i have to map oll field names and to search in it with string name when i need to query data table i have to do something like this
select
case when (exists select 1 from LinkTable where FieldName='fieldname1' AND
OriginId=SelectedID) then fieldname1
else NULL
end
for every fields
What about mixing several controls, such as a combobox with all lines, that would trigger the display of all columns of that line.
Something like that (I am currenlty working on that project):

Generate reports in birt using user input. When input is null, everything should be fetched otherwise corresponding data should be shown

I have to create a birt report with user input parameters. It is something like when the para
meter is left blank it should fetch all values from a table otherwise when the user inputs the students roll no.,the corresponding data should be fetched. Can this be done through Birt report? If yes, then please suggest a way.
Thanks!
Yes, you can do that. If the parameter is optional you can't use the Dataset Parameter (with a ? in your query), because it will be null. Instead you have to modify your query using JavaScript.
Create a Report Parameter like usual, in this case 'stud_no'. Then add a comment in your SQL that you are reasonably sure is unique, I use something like --$stud_no$, wherever you want your clause inserted.
Then add a script like this to your Data Set, in beforeOpen:
if (params["stud_no"].value){
this.queryText = this.queryText.replace("--$stud_no$", "and stud_no = " + params["stud_no"]);
}
This replaces the comment with the clause when the parameter has a value. You can use regex in the search string, and then you can also insert it multiple places if you want.
Create your paremater using a like statement
where students_roll_no like ?
Create your report paramater using as a text box, with a defualt value of %
Because the percent '%' is the SQL wildcard, it returns all values. If the user enters a Student Roll number, it returns only that record. Additionally the user can enter 0500% and get all the records that begin 0500.
