I am trying to chose an IP camera for outdoor surveillance, but I am not sure how I will be able to communicate with it. Afaik. these cameras have an IP address on the local network, which I can access to get the video stream. But what about the controlling part, like rotation, zoom, IR movement sensor, etc? Is there a communication standard for that, or should I try to find some kind of developer documentation?
I found that ONVIF is the most prevalent communication standard by IP cameras. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ONVIF

I'm learning the FIX protocol, I was a bit interested in this topic, do you know any free platforms, API FIX where I could connect for free, not as a company and start receiving orders, sending etc.
There is FixSim which allows to connect for free for one hour per day.

I'm looking for a way or a tool to monitor the data being send to received by filter drivers via FltSendMessage
I used DriverMon to intercept the IOCTLs being send to device drivers, it just doesn't work with mini filters as far as I know.
Any help will be much appreciated!

I have a rev. B Raspberry Pi and want to stream from my Microsoft Lifecam VX-800 to a web server using HLS protocol and avconv/ffmpeg, preferably without using raspivid because it's not working (couldn't figure out why). The stream needs to be fed to jwplayer. I went through a lot of guides but none seem to be fitting my needs. Could you give me detailed instructions on how to do the live streaming or give me links to detailed tutorials that you tried and worked?

The Skype desktop API was being closed, but they've reversed that decision. I'm now not able to register as a developer (http://developer.skype.com/) as they're 'not accepting new registrations'.
I need to start looking into this as I want to develop a call recording component for Mac (and Windows, but most importantly Mac).
So is there a mirror for the documentation somewhere so that I know how this works? And is there any example code for this?
A comment in this question seems to imply that they provide both tracks of audio readily so I believe that once I can get this info, it should be quite a simple task!

I am trying to fiddle with linux audio sub-system. Basically, I am trying to understand how audio input/ouput flows (use of audio encoders etc) when running a linux image on Vbox. Anyone know a good place to start or a good book to refer to.
Your best bet is to follow the Linux Audio User Group. They have a number of resources on their website and their mailing list is also quite active.
