I need to install VTK and mayavi on Ubuntu 16. I have Anaconda with Python 3.6. If I run:
conda install -c menpo vtk=7.0.0 vtk
I get:
Fetching package metadata ...........
Solving package specifications: .
UnsatisfiableError: The following specifications were found to be in conflict:
- python 3.6*
- vtk 7.0.0* -> python 3.5* -> openssl 1.0.1*
- vtk 7.0.0* -> python 3.5* -> xz 5.0.5
Use "conda info <package>" to see the dependencies for each package.
Apparently, I need Anaconda with Python3.5, but it's not availabe. Any idea? :)
You can also use this: https://anaconda.org/clinicalgraphics/vtk
The VTK is the 7.1.0 ones and was built to python 3.6 ;D
EDIT: Nowadays the anaconda repository has the latest version (8.1.1)
The code to do that is:
conda install -c anaconda vtk
I don't have ubuntu to try, but is seems that you are using a channel that does support linux https://anaconda.org/menpo/vtk/files (for python 2.7, 3.4, 3.5)
Do you need that specific python, openssl and xz version? Otherwise create a new enviroment and let anaconda sort out the version compatibility
conda install -n envA -c menpo vtk=7 python=3
or if you want to be more specific:
conda install -n envB -c menpo vtk=7 python=3.5
or (if you are fine with python 2 and vtk 6 you can use the vtk package from the conda distribution)
conda install -n envC vtk python=2

I have python 3.9 installed in the anaconda base environment and have trouble installing the latest 3.10 version. I have tried to use "conda install -c conda-forge python=3.10" but it does not help resolve my problem. Over half a day, I have iteratively applied the command in the terminal but the package would not be installed. Any suggestion?
I've tried to use "conda install -c conda-forge python=3.10" and it did not work. My software still is Python 3.9 and I cannot apply the latest python version there.
Anaconda currently doesn't support versions higher than 3.9.
You can create your own environment using your IDE that utilize Python 3.11 and install all the required libraries via pip install from the command line interface.
I can not find a solution to install tensorflow on anaconda/mac.
When i try: conda install tensorflow,
I get:
UnsatisfiableError: The following specifications were found to be in conflict:
- blaze -> numba -> numpy=1.13
- tensorflow
Use "conda info " to see the dependencies for each package.
I tried reinstalling numpy, and could not find any relevant documentation.
On mac use following command:
conda install -c conda-forge tensorflow
This will install the latest Tensorflow on your system. if you wish to upgrade it to newer version then you can use the following command
conda update -f -c conda-forge tensorflow
I have had success installing tensorflow through pip...
pip install tensorflow
or, if you have all of the proper libraries...
pip install tensorflow-gpu
But if you have already removed numpy form the anaconda install, you might be in for a long day because almost all of the numeric packages require it. If the above pip install doesn't work, you might want to start from a clean anaconda install.
I have installed tensorflow using -
pip install tensorflow
Or, you can use Anaconda in following way -
Open Anaconda Navigator
On Left side go to Environments
Create a new environment (eg :- tensorflow_tf), select python 3.7
then select Not installed and Search "tensorflow"
click on tensorflow and apply
I get this error:
C:\Users>conda install pytorch torchvision -c soumith
Fetching package metadata .............
PackageNotFoundError: Package missing in current win-64 channels:
- pytorch
I got conda install pytorch torchvision -c soumith from Pytorch official website and I have OSX/conda/3.6/none for settings on Pytorch site(should be correct). I am new to conda, any tips how to solve this?
Update: From PyTorch 0.4, there is an official Anaconda channel with packages for Windows as well.
You can install the latest pre-built (binary) version of PyTorch (GPU version by default) on windows using:
conda install -c pytorch pytorch
For CPU only version:
conda install -c pytorch pytorch-cpu
For specific version of CUDA say CUDA9.1:
conda install -c pytorch pytorch cuda91
Official instructions for windows are now available here
Old answer for previous versions (<0.4) of PyTorch on Windows:
It looks like you are on windows (win 64) and you are trying to install pytorch by choosing OSX because you don't have an option listed for win64 on pytorch site. (Correct me if that is not the case, I will revise my answer). -c soumith will use soumith's channel which only has packages for Linux and OSX not for windows. That is why you got that error when you ran conda from a windows machine.
You can install pytorch on windows through conda using this command:
conda install -c peterjc123 pytorch
This will fetch the pytorch package using peterjc123's channel which has packages for Win64.
You can install the torchvision package using pip like this:
pip install torchvision
On June,2019, The command generated at pytorch will require dependencies before it can be executed successfully. For example I chose stable pytorch 1.1 build with python 3.6 and Cuda 10.0. The command generated by pytorch page was as follows:
conda install pytorch torchvision cudatoolkit=10.0 -c pytorch
But it will not work if you have created a new conda environment like me. The step by step process for setting up pytorch is as follows:
First install the cudatoolkit as follows:
conda install -c anaconda cudatoolkit=10.0
Then install the mkl_fft as follows:
conda install -c anaconda mkl_fft
Assuming you will face no more dependency issues. Use the following command to setup pytorch:
conda install -c pytorch pytorch
This worked for me. But I had setup my new conda environment with scikit-learn and jupyter notebook before starting the pytorch setup. So if any dependency problem arise, it would be a good idea to install both scikit-learn and jupyter notebook as well.
Use the following commands to install pytorch on windows
for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016, CUDA 8
conda install -c peterjc123 pytorch cuda80
for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016, CUDA 9
conda install -c peterjc123 pytorch cuda90
for Windows 7/8/8.1 and Windows Server 2008/2012, CUDA 8
conda install -c peterjc123 pytorch_legacy cuda80
I have face similar problem because I have installed pytorch cpu only version. I tried everything and update pytorch to gpu version but nothing helped.
Simple solution is to create new environment and then install pytorch gpu version. It resolve my problem
Good day,
My colleague asked my to install Anaconda and mayavi and I am novice with this topic and I decided to do the tasks on a new ubuntu installation
Here are my tasks before my issue
I fresh installed a Ubuntu 16.04
I ran all update apt-get update/upgrade
I created an user account (anna) and add it in sudo group
I loged into anna account
I downloaded Anaconda2-4.4.0-Linux-x86_64.sh for python 2.7
I installed with the command sudo bash Anaconda2-4.4.0-Linux-x86_64.sh
I installed anaconda in /opt/anaconda2 instead to the /home/anna/anaconda2 (for all user usage) and I say YES to have the line export PATH="/opt/anaconda2/bin:$PATH" in .bashrc file of anna
I run source /home/anna/.bashrc
After the anaconda installation, I could see a successful message regarding the installation
Now my colleague asked me to install mayavi and she provided me the following link mayavi
Then I simply enter the following command
conda install -c anaconda mayavi=4.5.0
And here start my problem. I can not well understand the conflict but apparently there is a conflict and I have no idea how to solve it. Here is the command and the message
anna#pc17:~$ conda install -c anaconda mayavi=4.5.0
Fetching package metadata ...........
Solving package specifications: .
UnsatisfiableError: The following specifications were found to be in conflict:
- mayavi 4.5.0* -> pyqt 4.* -> qt >=4.8.6,<5.0
- mayavi 4.5.0* -> pyqt 4.* -> sip >=4.16.4,<4.18
- navigator-updater -> pyqt >=5.6 -> qt 5.6.*
Use "conda info <package>" to see the dependencies for each package.
I have no idea what does mean the above message and how to solve me problem.
Is there depencies that I have to additionally install?
For information the above command return me this:
anna#cryospc17:~$ python --version
Python 2.7.13 :: Anaconda 4.4.0 (64-bit)
anna#cryospc17:~$ python3 --version
Python 3.5.2
Did I correctly try t install mayavi?
Thank a lot for any help you can provide me
To complete the install of mayavi, you have to first install the following depence
conda install -c anaconda vtk=6.3.0
conda install -c anaconda pyside=1.2.1
Then install mayavi
conda install -c anaconda mayavi=4.5.0
It may possible, you have to remove pyqt
conda uninstall pyqt
We finally could install anaconda and mayavi sucessfully.
I hope it help
Cheers
This might be helpfull to others. It must be anaconda for python 2.7 currently and the follows worked.
Install anaconda for python 2.7, then try the follows:
conda uninstall pyqt
conda uninstall navigator-updater
conda install pyqt=4
conda install vtk
conda install envisage
conda install pyside
conda install apptools=4.4.0
conda install mayavi
I have installed python and many other useful tools on my Ubuntu 14.04 using Anaconda. I installed pysam (htslib interface for python) using
conda install pysam
However this installs the old version (0.6). The current version is 0.8.4. How can I install that version using conda. I don't want to use pip install pysam because I read somewhere it might cause problems.
Thanks.
Anaconda only provides version 0.6. You can install from binstar with:
conda install -c https://conda.anaconda.org/uhlitz pysam
This should give you version 0.8.3 for linux64. Other channels are also available.
