PuTTY command line error while connecting to google datalab instance - putty

I'm trying to connect to previously created instance in Google Cloude Compute Engine using datalab, or create a new one using Google Cloud SDK Shell:
datalab connect nst
The program cannot connect, the error is the following:
ERROR: (gcloud.compute.ssh) [C:\Users\Anastasia...\putty.exe] exited with returned code [1]
and there is a pop-up window from putty.exe with command line error:
unknown option -"o"
Neither restart nor SDK shell reinstall doesn't help. What should I do? Thank you in advance.
I can connect to the instance through ssh.

See PuTTy "unknown option -o" when trying to connect and https://github.com/googledatalab/datalab/issues/1356

SQLPlus is throwing client hostname issue ORA-24454, whereas I can telnet to hostname successfully

I'm trying to connect to the oracle database via sqlplus hosted on a remote instance using command like this sqlplus user#hostname.com:port/SchemaName. And on typing password it throws weird client host issue. See the screenshot below.
The question is which host name its expecting me to put inside /etc/hosts?
Whereas I can telnet successfully to same instance without any issues. By the way I'm on MacOS 10.15.7.
Oracle clients were installed using this link. Can be seen from the screenshot below.
The installation was moved to the appropriate folder.
The $PATH was also exported to ~/.bash_profile file
I was able to resolve this issue by the solution mentioned on this link.
Using hostname command I was able to find host name of my machine, which was required to make a successful connection to the Oracle.
The screenshot below explains the process
The hostname entry looks like below

Failed to connect to Mir: Failed to connect to server socket: No such file or directory Unable to init server:

I have installed ubuntu terminal in window 10. It's work fine but when I install gedit or any other application then these applications installed successfully but I can not open it. Whenever I tried it gives me the Error mentioned below.
"Failed to connect to Mir: Failed to connect to server socket: No such file or directory
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused
(gedit:4821): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:"
In the description of "Ubuntu terminal", it says: "run Ubuntu command line utilities". gedit is not a command line utility. It is a graphical utility, so it is not supported out of the box.
Your hope is that the final error is cannot open display. I bet that if you provide a suitable display in your computer, the utility will show up. Search for a X-server for your windows machine and try with the X-server installed.

PostgreSQL first time install and attempt to connect

I just installed postgresql-9.1.4-1-windows-x64 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. I'm having trouble starting the service and connecting to a database.
After a successful installation I've tried the following based on similar postings.
1) Looked for "Start Server" under Start > All Programs > PostreSQL 9.1 and could not find it.
2) Tried starting the server from the command line
pg_ctl.exe -D "C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\9.1\bin\data"
This gave me the error:
could not create lock file 'postmaster.pid': Permission denied
I have administrative rights, and there is not postmaster.pid file either in the bin or data directories.
3) Next I tried starting the Service from Admistrative Tools by right clicking on the postgresql-9.1.4-1-windows-x64 Service and selecting Start. I received the message:
The postgresql-9.1.4-1-windows-x64 Service on local computer started
and stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use
by other services or programs.
The Event Viewer showed the error as Timed out waiting for server startup
4) I figured there the data in the data directory was probably and initial database, but just in case I ran "initdb" and got:
If you want to create a new database system either remove or empty the
directory c:\program files\postgreSql/9.1/data or run initdb with an
argument other than c:\program files\postgreSql/9.1/data
4) And just for fun I Started pgAdminIII, right clicked on "PostreSQL 9.1(localhost:5432)", selected Connect, entered password, and got:
could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is
the server running on host "localhost" (::1) and accepting TCP/IP
connections on port 5432?
Does anybody have a suggestion?
Thanks.
«"could not create lock file 'postmaster.pid': Permission denied"»
Do not look any further, Postgres cannot start if it can't create this temp file. If it is not created, you evidently cannot find it if you look for it on the disk. Your DATA directory has been created so no need to re run initdb again and if you try to use pgadmin it complains that it cannot connect to Pg -- which is not running.
I am not familiar with windows but found out where postmaster.pid is to be created you will probably find out why Postgres cannot create this file.
Hope it helps.

Getting "Server refused to allocate pty" error when trying to connect to Bitbucket via SSH on Windows

I'm trying to hook up Mercurial to Bitbucket on a PC and it's being really tough. I followed the instructions here:
http://www.codza.com/mercurial-with-ssh-setup-on-windows
and I'm running pageant set to my private key. I typed this at the command line:
plink -v hg#bitbucket.org and I get the following output:
C:\mypath>plink -v hg#bitbucket.org
"skipped for briefness"
Access granted
Opened channel for session
Server refused to allocate pty
Started a shell/command
conq: invalid command syntax
Server sent command exit status 0
Disconnected: All channels closed
My friend got the same error when he tried it on his PC. Can you help explain what the problem is or how to debug?
Running plink ssh://hg#bitbucket.org gives Using username ssh://hg and Disconnected: No supported authentication methods available.
Thanks for your help,
Kevin
You cannot connect to Bitbucket like that and get a login shell -- their backend process (called conq) will only accept Mercurial commands. With TortoiseHg, you don't have to do anything special -- so hg push ssh://hg#bitbucket.org/... should just work out of the box.
Using HTTPS is generally a nicer option for Bitbucket and as we discussed on IRC, there are plenty of ways to cache the passwords.
