Form not loading controls for some users - performance

I created a split database w/ a networked distributable front-end application that users can download to their PC's for improved performance. I tested this set-up myself and w/ another user and everything works as expected: forms open fine w/ or w/out data in corresponding tables. However, I have some other users who can download the file and log in w/out issue, but when they go to open the data entry form the form controls don't display (e.g., no text/option boxes). I'm inclined to think there is a system compatibility issue of some sort that is causing this to only occur for some users, but I have no idea where to start. Any thoughts?

Windows 10 Best Place for Sharing Data between Multiple User Accounts

I'm converting a suite of legacy 32 bit C++ apps to run under Windows 10. These apps can run under different user accounts on the same PC and need to share the data between themselves and all the users. Some of the apps are Windows services, some are regular UI apps. There's a lot of communication between the apps and sometimes this is accomplished using shared data files. All the different user accounts need to access the shared data...
I have tried storing the shared data in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\AppName\data
and have set the security level on that folder to Full Control for All users.
Most of the time, this works perfectly well. But occasionally, at seemingly random intervals, one of the shared data files ends up in:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\AppName\data
I have tried to replicate this, and it never happens when I'm looking...
If I run a simple UI app that just writes to this folder, everything is fine. The App does not need to run with elevated privileges to write to the folder.
I suspect it's when one of the Apps is trying to write to a file that is locked by another, which the code handles by using exceptions, but Windows tries to help out by writing to the VirtualStore instead. But I could be wrong...
So, to cut to the question:
Where is the 'best place' to store shared data between several apps AND user accounts, that won't end up in the VirtualStore?

Any application with a requestedExecutionLevel node in its manifest is marked as Vista compatible and the redirection to the Virtual Store is disabled.

Manually update an windows app in kiosk mode doesn´t work

Manually triggering update of an app when running windows in assigned access (Kiosk mode) doesn´t work.
I have read others facing the same issue and it feels like there is a bug in windows Kiosk mode. But maybe there is some reason for this behaviour?
I have an app that I sideload using an appinstaller file (my app consist of both a uwp part and a consol part linked with a bridge connection). The app works well in Kiosk mode besides the update part. If I enable automatic updates and link to a specific folder on my computer the automatic updates will work and update my app from the specific folder. However this way to update requires two restarts before it is automatically updated. I want to be able to manually trigger the update from within the app itself somehow and have it updated instantly.
I have tried to update using packagemanager using the function below. This works well in desktop but will always freeze in bluscreen with progressring if I run it in an account in Kiosk mode (assigned access).

I have also tried to restart the app using the command below in order to trigger the automatic update without the need to restart the entire computer. This also works well in desktop but will freeze in bluscreen if I am in a Kiosk account.

Restarting the entire computer two times and enabling automatic updates will update the app without problems. Why is it not possible to use one of the methods above? Is this a bug in windows kiosk mode or is this really intended??

I don´t feel very confident with the whole assigned access and package installation concept. It works at the moment for me but my feeling is that it is not very stable. Many different ways of creating almost the same thing. The problem is that there are differences between the results depending on how you get there. For instance two assigne access accounts don´t behave the same if you created them differently. Also adding and removing both apps and accounts leaves trash that you don´t see but can cause problems.At least this is my feeling.

Change Windows settings via script

I wanted to setup a computer with a variety of settings which I basicly have to do over and over and over again everytime a new user joins our company or changes the computer and I wanted to know if there was a possible way to configure those with a script like I already did with an information colletor script (batch file) and which now works perfectly fine thanks to this webside.
So since I know that here are some really awesome IT Guys with way more experience then me I would love to so something automatic as the next step to save loads of time by simply running a script to configure things like setting up the screensaver, InternetOptions, removing Apps/Softwarelinks in the Start Menu or perhaps even adding links to the bookmark list in firefox or chrome so the user can just start to work and I got loads of time for other important things.
For now it would already be a help to setup a script for Windows 7 but I think we will move more and more to windows 10 so would it be possible to write something to use on both systems without any big changes?

Everything you ask about can be configured in a centralized fashion via Active Directory Group Policy. Check the Group Policy Survival Guide page to get started designing the policy for your organization and users.
Group Policy can be defined using PowerShell and via Group Policy Management Console which is GUI-based.
Note that the above will only work if you are in Active Directory domain. If you are not, you still can use Local Group Policy, but you will have to run a script on every user's computer. I am not sure whether there are native PowerShell cmdlets to manage Local Group Policy, but AFAIK you can do that via Windows Registry or using special tools.

Joomla content not displaying on other computers

I've build a Joomla website and it has been online for like 2 years now, always worked fine.
Recently I added a Google maps plugin and changed some header images.
Strange thing is, those changes are only displaying on my own laptop. The problem is not that I'm by accident viewing a local website, I'm 100% visiting the website online. I just opened the website on chrome with www.mywebsite.com and it displays all changes made in the backend. When I log out and back in again to the backend trough /administrator I can see the changes.
Now when I open the website on another computer (tried like three different ones), the changes are not displaying. Even when I log in to the backend through /administrator, still online on the same network, I am not seeing the changes made on my laptop and vice versa.
Frontend sometimes can have problems with caching, but the cache is disabled so this can't be the problem. And even if so, why would the backend display other data on 2 different computers..?
Also I've already tried removing the browser cache on those other computers.
Has anyone experienced this problem? I'm guessing it might be a problem on the side of my hosting company..
It had to do with a rule in the hosts-file on my laptop which directed to an old location/ip-adress of the website which has been moved to another server.

ActiveX Flash-Player can't access web-content?

I have a ActiveX control hosting a flash-player which is in turn running a flash file trying to access data from a web-address.
In an old Windows Application version of my application everything works fine and the flash file is able to access the web-content.
However, in a newer Console Appliction version of the application it can no longer access the web-content.
Any ideas what might be causing this? Is there some kind of difference between a Windows Application and a Console application in terms of security/permissions that might affect an ActiveX hosted flash-player?

First of all - how did you manage to get an ActiveX into a console application? :) I think ax needs window handles and all such things...
Anyways, there are different kinds of sandboxes from the Flash player perspective, what you are seeing is the "local not trusted" kind. In order to "trust" the SWF that issues the request you would need to use this page to confirm that the location where SWF comes from can communicate to the internet.
Doing so may be a hindrance for the user, but if this is the case, you could write the trust files on your own. Example
