Forgot Password in Codeigniter3 - codeigniter

My code is not work in database.
Here is my model function.please tell me what is wrong in this method since it does not runs in database:
Login_model.php
public function forgot_password()
{
$this->db->select('*');
$this->db->from('tblmvbsystemusers');
$this->db->where('sysu_email',$this->input->post('email'));
$this->db->where('sysu_status','1');
$query=$this->db->get();
$row=$query->row();
send_mail($row->sysu_name,$row->sysu_email,'admin_password_help',$row->sysu_email);
if ($query->num_rows() == 1)
return true;
else
return false;
}

please print last executed query
you can use following syntax.
$this->db->last_query();
then copy it and run manually in phpmyadmin.
you will see better result

How to check if user email is null?

I'm trying to authenticate 2 users by inheritance in a Laravel project.
In my migration I have only 1 column that can be null, that column is email.
With that column I'm expecting to double authenticate professors and alumns, I have also 2 types of registers, one has the input email and the other not.
In my database I have 2 users, one is professor, and the other alumn, professor has email, and the other has email also, because they belong to the same table but that email is NULL in alumn row.
I'm trying to check when I login if that user with email column is null, my view returns alumn.
If it's not null my view returns professor.
I tried to check if email is null in my Laravel controller.
This is my code
public function index()
{
$user = User::where('email', '=', Input::get('email'))->first();
if ($user == 'NULL'){
return ('alumn');
}
if ($user != 'null'){
return ('professor');
}
}
And my Laravel router looks like this.
Route::get('/home', 'HomeController#index')->name('home');
I also tried this function in my controller instead the other one.
if (User::where('email', '=', Input::get('email'))->count() > 0) {
// user found
}
And with exists() instead of count().
If you are wondering, I'm returning just a string right now for testing purposes.
The issue you are having is within your conditionals. ($user == 'NULL') and ($user != 'null'). What you are checking for currently if the User object is the follow string: "NULL".
These are not how you check for null. There are many options that will work.
if (empty($user)){
return view('alumn');
}
// OR
if (!$user) {
return view('alumn');
}
// OR
if (is_null($user)) {
return view('alumn');
}
Would work. You could also use is_null. If you wanted to check that user equals null you cannot put quotation marks around null.
The first() method will return null if there's no data so use is_null() instead like :
if ( is_null($user) ) {
return view('alumn');
}else{
return view('professor');
}
FYI, first() will return you null when there is no data in the database, so I hope this will help you
public function index()
{
$user = User::where('email', '=', Input::get('email'))->first();
if ( is_null($user) ) {
return view('alumn');
} else {
return view('professor');
}
}
All the answers above didn't work in my case.
So i did this to make it worth.
public function index()
{
$user = Auth::user();
if ($user->email == ''){
return ('alumne');
}
else{
return ('professor');
}
print_r(Auth::user());
}
First i printed my Auth::user to check if all was working right, then i tried to save the authentification in a variable called user.
Then i checked with a conditional and all worked fine.
public function index() {
$user = User::where('email', '=', Input::get('email'))->first();
if (empty($user)) {
return view('alumn');
} else {
return view('professor');
}
}

Error when calling procedures in code igniter

I am calling a procedure in code igniter and when I try to call another procedure I get the following error:
Error Number: 2014
Commands out of sync; you can't run this command now
call get_post_info($id)
Filename: C:/Apache24/htdocs/application/models/Posts_model.php
Line Number: 18
I think I need to clear the result set... not sure.
Here is my model:
<?php class Posts_model extends CI_Model {
public function __construct()
{
$this->load->database();
}
public function get_post_ids($acc_id){
$query = $this->db->query('call get_post_ids('.$this->db->escape($acc_id).')');
return $query->row_array();
}
public function get_post($id)
{
$query = $this->db->query('call get_post_info($id)');
return $query->row_array();
}
}
In my controller:
$post_ids = $this->posts_model->get_post_ids(1);
foreach ($post_ids as $id){
array_push($data, $this->posts_model->get_post($id));
}
I didn't actually run these solutions, but I found some info that might be what you look for. First of all, check this post about the cause of the problem.
I suppose $query->free_result() should solve the problem:
public function get_post_ids($acc_id){
$query = $this->db->query('call get_post_ids('.$this->db->escape($acc_id).')');
$result = $query->row_array();
$query->free_result();
return $result;
}
And in case that doesn't work, this this may be a good solution for CodeIgniter.

Codeigniter and Set Session in Model

I want to unset and set session in model function depend on passed id.
I have language field for every record and should change session considering that.
in sample word i have a link like this : http://www.mysite.com/report/2020
now this article by this id maybe saved by english language but current session is french.so I should change the session.
here is my code but it dos not work.
//function for checking language by id
public function lang($id)
{
$data = $this->db
->select('language')
->from('content')
->where('id',$id)
->get();
if ($data->num_rows > 0) {
return $data;
}else{
return false;
}
}
//function for reading data from db depend on id and language
public function report($id)
{
$cat=2;
$code=$id;
$langu= $this->lang($id)->row()->language;
if($langu==3){
$this->session->unset_userdata('lang');
$this->session->set_userdata('lang','dr');
}
if($langu==2){
$this->session->unset_userdata('lang');
$this->session->set_userdata('lang','pa');
}
if($langu==1){
$this->session->unset_userdata('lang');
$this->session->set_userdata('lang','en');
}
$language= $this->session->userdata('lang');
$lang=$language;
$data = $this->db
->select('*')
->from('content')
->where('category',$cat)
->where('language',$lang)
->where('id',$code)
->get();
if ($data->num_rows > 0) {
return $data;
}else{
return false;
}
}
the best way to session is:
you have to check the query in model, and call the model in controller, if its true set session data within controller....
Setting Session within the model is not a good idea for an MVC architecture.
Sometimes there is really need to set or get session data in model.
Use then Code Igniter instance like below:
$codeIgniter =& get_instance();
$codeIgniter->set_userdata('data', $data);
// or to read data:
$data = $codeIgniter->userdata('data');
Note that using $this to call set_userdata() or userdata() in model will not work correctly.

codeigniter call to a member function row() on a non-object

I've searched the ends of the earth and back for this solution, and for everyone else, the fix was to autoload the database class in autoload.php. However, I am already doing this, so I don't know where else to go with it.
Controller:
class Login extends CI_Controller{
function validate_credentials(){
$this->load->model('membership_model');
// call the member function from membership_model.php
$q = $this->membership_model->validate();
if($q){
// user info is valid
$data = array(
'username' => $this->input->post('username'),
'is_logged_in' => true
);
$this->session->set_userdata($data);
redirect('site/members_area');
}else{
$this->index();
}
}
}
Model:
class Membership_model extends CI_Model{
function validate(){
// this method is called from the login.php controller
$this->db->where('username', $this->input->post('username'));
$this->db->where('password', md5($this->input->post('password')));
$q = $this->db->get('members');
if($q->num_rows == 1){
return true;
}
return false;
}
}
Any help on this please, I'm going round in circles with this
My next thought is that php.ini needs configuring on my host server, to load the mysql modules - but I would very surprised by this?
Just to clarify - the line:
if($q->num_rows)
Is the problem, saying that I am trying to reference a property of a non object
Actually
if($q->num_rows)
should be
if($q->num_rows()) // It returns the number of rows returned by the query.
So you can use
if($q->num_rows()) // In this case it'll be evaluated true if rows grater than 0
{
// code when rows returned
}
num_rows is a function.
if ($query->num_rows() > 0) {
}
So you need
if($q->num_rows() > 0) {
return true;
}
Solved - I hadn't assigned a User to the database, therefore couldn't access it.

codeigniter passing count_all_results to view

I'm using the count_all_results() function to return a user's number of languages spoken. But when I try to pass the number to the view, I keep getting a php undefined variable (for $lang_cnt). Below is my code:
Model
function countLanguages($id) {
$this->db->where('user_id', $id)->from('languages');
return $this->db->count_all_results();
}
Controller
function showLangCount() {
$data['lang_cnt'] = $this->language_model->countLanguages($id);
$this->load->view('lang_view', $data);
}
View
<p>This user speaks <?php echo $lang_cnt; ?> languages.</p>
One problem is that your model function takes two arguments:
function countLanguages($id, $cnt_languages)
But when you call it you are only passing one argument:
$this->language_model->countLanguages($cnt_languages);
And an even bigger problem, as Rocket points out, is that countLanguages doesn't return anything. Try this:
function countLanguages($id) {
$this->db->where('user_id', $id)->from('languages');
return $this->db->count_all_results();
}
Always check your model functions if they return value or not. Try this:
function showLangCount() {
if($this->language_model->countLanguages($id))
{
$data['lang_cnt'] = $this->language_model->countLanguages($id);
}
else
{
$data['lang_cnt'] = NULL;
}
$this->load->view('lang_view', $data);
}
Its better to use:
return $query->num_rows();
to return the number of rows effected...
