Its the same example I am using now, But I modified this example as per my requirement. Now I have a requirement where I need to disable some particular time slots like 05:00pm to 07:00pm. So I want to make that particular time slot as gray or disabled and when user try to drag event during this particular time slot, we will restrict user. See the snapshot below.
Above the scheduler there is a grid of events, and we drag events to scheduler with machines. Now according to machine working hours , we have to disable time slots in which they do not work or not available.

I have a flow that processes calendar updates as part of an Out of Office tracker, saving the items to a SharePoint list. The flows generally work well, until a time comes when someone updates recurring items, and the flow gets hammered with all the updates for that calendar event. With one update, it usually works ok, but if I get two or more, the flows stay in a running state and never finish. Will they ever complete? Is this a throttling issue?
I'm looking at the Field Service module of Dynamics 365. I'm trying to block out an employee's time on the schedule board by creating a time off request.
I can create the time off request, but as soon as the object is saved, the system automatically deactivates it.
The system will reported success when Approving a time off request but I can't see any changes in the data nor any records created in the audit summary. If I try to Active a time off request, the process fails due to a Business Process Error:
Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.InvalidPluginExecutionException: Time off request records can't be reactivated.
To the best of my knowledge, there aren't any process changes to time off requests (but I'm unsure how to confirm this). From everything that I've read, this should be a fairly straight forward process so I'm not sure where to look next.
This page from the documentation is a good example of what I'm trying to do. It's failing on step 3 of "Approve a time-off request".
I've tried creating time off requests:
in the past
for tomorrow and more than 2 weeks future
of duration lengths from 2 hours through 2 weeks
for various user accounts
The time off requests are not conflicting with booked resources.
Any advice on what I could look into to determine if someone modified any processes / workflows associated with time off requests? Or is there something that I'm not doing that I should be?
I've learned that Microsoft's documentation is not complete and there was a bug.
Additional info on how Time Off Requests are used
There are two views of Time Off Requests (TOR) available to managers: Active and Inactive.
Active TORs: Lists TORs that a manager needs to approve
Inactive TORs: Lists TORs that have already been approved (i.e., the request itself has been dealt with)
Bookable Resources have a Time Off Approval Required property. When true, TORs created for the user are Active; when false, TORs created for the users are automatically moved to Inactive.
All Inactive TORs should appear as grayed-out boxes on the Schedule Board. If you attempt to Activate an Inactive TOR, the following error will correctly be reported:
Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.InvalidPluginExecutionException: Time off request
records can't be reactivated.
Field Service Bug
Additionally, we experienced a bug that prevented Inactive TORs from being grayed out on the Schedule Board. I'm not sure if this was a process error or a client-side style issue.
We observed the bug in Field Service 6.1.0.1462. Upgrading to 6.2.1.38 resolved the issue and allowed Inactive TORs to show up on the Schedule Board.
In my application I get rss feed from a website and than compare it with previously saved feed in isolated storage and show the updated feed. I want to update live tile with the updated feed items count, even when the app is not running. Kindly gave me guidelines for this.
You can use a background agent scheduler task. Depending on how resource intensive your call is, you can opt to use a Periodic tasks.

you have to note that the earliest a periodic task would run in wp7 is every 30 minutes. it is also subject to available resources on the device, hence it might not always run when you want it too.
I'm trying to create a real-time webbrowser game in ASP.Net MVC3, but I'm unsure about what's the best approach to processing 'real-time' events on the server side.
Imagine that the client wants to upgrade a building, upgrading a building takes time. A record gets inserted in the database that holds the end-time and on the client a ajax timer start's running. I was thinking about having a windows service running all the time. Every second the service checks the table and does the real processing when the time passed the end-time. However I could imagine that when you have a huge amount of data to process this can get problematic.
What would be the best way of doing this?

I've seen games like that before. You do not need to count down yourself, you just need to store the datetime for whenever the building will be ready.
When a page is requested you send a timestamp of when the building will be completed, and use javascript to count down. For example, like this.
Why not use the Windows scheduler?
I have several applications that have to run at certain times according to business rules not the typical every weekday at 1pm.
I also need a way for the applications to provide feedback of their progress so that I can have rules that notify me when the applications are running slow or aren't even running anymore.
What Windows API should I be looking into? (like, a time version of the FileWatcher apis)
What's the best way to have the application notify the scheduler of its progress (files, sockets, windows messages, ???)?
For Vista/Win2k8, there's the nice Task Scheduler 2.0 API: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa384138(VS.85).aspx. Previous version have the Task Scheduler 1.0 API, but I've never used it.
AppControls has a CronJob component that you can use to create scheduled events. This saves your program from having to wake up every minute and check the schedule itself. Instead, just schedule the job and indicate a callback method.
I have used this component for scheduling jobs myself and have been very happy with the way that it works.
I think what you really want is a common framework for your applications that report to something (you or the system messages or tracing or perfmon, event log, whatever) and also to receive via some inter process protocol a way to receive messages and respond.
based on the reporting you can change the scheduling or make changes, etc.
So, there is some monitor app, and then each of your other apps does common reporting.
events I can think of:
- started
- stopped
- error
- normal log messages
- and of course specific things your apps do.
I think there are probably existing classes/framework that do this - you'll have to check around.
If it were me, I would make a service that could talk to all the other apps and perhaps was even an http server. It would be able to route messages to particular apps and start stop those processes and query them.
There are lots of ways to do what you want though. those were just off the top of my head.
Alternatively you might just be able to get these to be services and they handle messages sent to them. Their normal processing does nothing until they are "woken up" with some task command.
You have more questions in one. Normally you should split them. But let's overlook this and try to answer.
To schedule certain events (including running an application): Use TJvScheduledEvents from JVCL. IMHO JVCL is the best Delphi open source library around with extensive number of components, developers & support. TJvScheduledEvents is quite neat, uses threads for event scheduling and also you have in JVCL a detailed editor for your events (it needs a small hack to use it though).
To provide 'feedback' from your applications to a (remote) central point: A very very very good solution (if your requirements permit) is to log the progress of your applications in a table (let's call it LOG) on a Firebird server. In LOG you can have the following fields: COMPUTER, USERNAME, APPNAME, MSG, LOGDATE (etc. etc.). In the After Insert trigger of the LOG table you can fire an event (let's call it NEW_LOG). In your console app you can register the interest for this event and so, your application will be automatically updated with everything which happens in any of your applications, so you can do log analysis, graphs etc. Of course you can do it with IB, but IB costs.
...going on Windows API route you need headers (which probably aren't translated), you'll encounter our dearest Pointers/PChars etc. etc. Of course, building from scratch everything isn't worthwhile but when this is already done in a Delphi way, why don't use it?
Use service with a timer that is fired regulary (for example each minute). It reads the schedule and looks if some are due before the next iteration. If so, you can execute them.
You can add an interface that shows all running apps. For the feedback and query that using a desktop application.
