Requires a bean named 'entityManagerFactory' after using `CrudRepository? - spring

I don't know why but as I use CrudRepository in my Spring Boot Application:
public interface UserGroupRepository extends CrudRepository<UserGroupModel, Long> {
}
I'm getting this at the startup:
***************************
APPLICATION FAILED TO START
***************************
Description:
Parameter 0 of constructor in
springfox.documentation.spring.web.plugins.WebMvcRequestHandlerProvider
required a bean named 'entityManagerFactory' that could not be found.
Action:
Consider defining a bean named 'entityManagerFactory' in your configuration.
I have no idea what SpringFox has to do with this but as I comment out // extends CrudRepository .. things start working again.
Is Swagger interfering here with Spring Data?
See the full auto configuration report.
See the full trace.

Spring boot is not loading bootstrap.properties file

I noticed that when I create a spring-cloud application it is only getting properties from the application.properties file (or application.yml), so I have created the following demo project to simplify the situation, however, I still couldn't manage to load properties from a bootstrap.propertiles file.
I tried converting the bootstrap.properties file into bootstrap.yml with the same result.
I tried compiling and running the microservice as standalone with the same result.
I left this project on GitHub to demonstrate the situation: https://github.com/bcfernandez/Mobile-app-ws.git
The only entry point available is http://localhost:port/users/status
application.properties file is empty.
bootstrap.properties file sets server.port as 8181.
The application is running on port 8080.
The pom.xml is the following:

Why is this simple project is not working as expected?
I took a look at your pom file, you are not creating any springboot cloud project because typically you will find a corresponding Spring Cloud BOM version in pom.xml if you used https://start.spring.io/, like so
<dependencyManagement>
<dependencies>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.cloud</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-cloud-dependencies</artifactId>
<version>${spring-cloud.version}</version>
<type>pom</type>
<scope>import</scope>
</dependency>
</dependencies>
</dependencyManagement>
That's why the bootstrap file is being dismissed.
Here is a number of spring cloud projects you can use.
You can start by:
A. creating a spring cloud config server project
B. Make your actual project the spring cloud config client
here is the official tutorial
Sorry If I'm not understanding your question properly, but if you are already created a springcloud project, one possible issue is the version...
Here similar issue was raised on Stack Overflow.

Guava version 16.0 being used during runtime even though 18.0 is used during compile time

I am trying to run a project in wildfly. Following is the guava dependency version. I tried including 18.0 in the dependency management but it still uses 16.0. Been struggling with this for entire day, googled a lot but no solution on this.

Reviewing the dependency called archaius-core 0.7 5 currently is using guava version 16.0 then if you want to use guava version 18.0
You need to add the dependency by following way:
<!-- https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/com.google.guava/guava -->
<dependency>
<groupId>com.google.guava</groupId>
<artifactId>guava</artifactId>
<version>18.0</version>
</dependency>
I think it is an issue of version typo when packing the jar what you are having.
It reminds me the class loading issue when I work with Glassfish4 long time ago. From the docs , the classes will first load from the following order before loading from the lib in the WAR :
(1) System Dependencies - These are dependencies that are added to the
module automatically by the container, including the Java EE api’s.
(2) User Dependencies - These are dependencies that are added through
jboss-deployment-structure.xml or through the Dependencies: manifest
entry.
It also mentions that the dependencies in (1) can be excluded through by the use of jboss-deployment-structure.xml.
And from this , jboss-deployment-structure.xml should be placed inside /WEB-INF/ and can prevent the server from automatically adding some dependencies by :
<jboss-deployment-structure>
<!-- Exclusions allow you to prevent the server from automatically adding some dependencies -->
<exclusions>
<module name="com.google.guava" />
</exclusions>
</jboss-deployment-structure>
Actually I don't know how to find the module name of the Guava module, I just search the docs and Github and found there is a one called com.google.guava .
I am also not sure it will work or not. But hope to give you some direction .Good luck.

Have you please any idea how annotate a bean with session scope annotation when using Spring Boot 1.3.5 ?
Thanks in advance.
you can try that:
#Component
#Scope("session")
public class MyBean implements ApplicationContextAware, Serializable
{
...
}

getting a java.lang.IllegalAccessError in a Maven Spring project

I'm doing my first maven spring Rest project which includes an embedded tomcat service and some MongoDb queries. I'm very new to both Maven and Spring, and can't seem to understand this error.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalAccessError: tried to access method org.springframework.core.io.support.SpringFactoriesLoader.loadFactoryNames(Ljava/lang/Class;Ljava/lang/ClassLoader;)Ljava/util/List; from class org.springframework.boot.SpringApplication
at org.springframework.boot.SpringApplication.getSpringFactoriesInstances(SpringApplication.java:260)
at org.springframework.boot.SpringApplication.initialize(SpringApplication.java:226)
at org.springframework.boot.SpringApplication.<init>(SpringApplication.java:200)

at org.springframework.boot.SpringApplication.run(SpringApplication.java:909)
at com.cave.spring.firstSpring.Application.main(Application.java:12)
This is the exception I'm getting. I'm trying to start an embedded tomcat service, but I keep getting errors. I think there are some incompatabilities in my pom.xml:

Try to remove the <version> attributes, for the dependencies that are defined in the spring boot parent pom (like you did for spring-boot-starter-web).
<dependencies>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-core</artifactId>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-beans</artifactId>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-context</artifactId>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.mongodb</groupId>
<artifactId>mongo-java-driver</artifactId>
<version>2.11.0</version>
<!-- i dont know if this is defined in the parent pom -->
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.data</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-data-mongodb</artifactId>
<version>1.3.3.RELEASE</version>
<!-- i dont know if this is defined in the parent pom -->
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-web</artifactId>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>com.fasterxml.jackson.core</groupId>
<artifactId>jackson-databind</artifactId>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-aspects</artifactId>
</dependency>
</dependencies>
I eventually managed to get this resolved. I think there was some dependency issues. I stripped down the pom and imported the dependencies anew
