I need to learn Idempiere from the scratch. How should I do that? - idempiere

All my attempts have failed so far.
I expect to become an Idempiere expert eventually.
Also, I've been unable to install Idempiere on my laptop with Ubuntu OS so far. The one available on Github isn't good enough.
Also, making sense of various utilities has been too much of a challenge for me.

i am same like you still in learning to develop iDempiere and want to become expert :)
First you need to learn is ERP, Idempiere are ERP Machine so you need to know what ERP is. And after you know what kind ERP is you need to try iDempiere and make iDempiere really familiar with you. After you and iDempiere know each other now time to develop.
this link will help you :
This link will help you to setup your workspace to develop iDempiere
And this link is the first step make you become iDempiere dev :)
And if you want to ask please ask in this link
Thanks

How to set a software updating strategy for remote customers

I have to say I am fairly new to CI/CD and how to automatically update softwares.
I am developping a monitoring software for industrial customers. We have come to the point where we need to think about an updating strategy to make it easier to deploy our newest version to customers. However, my knowledge on the matter is quite poor and I don't really know where to start.
Our main idea is to have some sort of launcher where, on startup, the software detects that a new version is available and asks the customer if he wants to download it. The problem is that I don't know where to start to put in place that strategy.
Prior to my researches, I had come accross kubernetes, docker, Jenkins, and GitLab but can't figure out if they do actually what I want. Furthermore, I have looked at Microsoft's Configuration Manager but it seemslike you can only update softs that are on your network.
Feel free to ask for any info.
Thank you in advance for your help ! :)

Janusys.com or Janusus.net Website and Forum

is there anybody who preserved the old Website of the Janusys company. Mostly known for their GridEX Winforms control but they had a complete suite of Winform Tools. Their support was (up until 'bankruptcy') very good and gave much more info on how to use their control in a non standard way.
I still use their components a lot in my projects and up until last year there was still a lookup method on http://janusys.net to get ideas if I was stuck.
The site(s) are out of the air now, so I hope someone has made a 'copy'??
regards Sandor
I hope too.
I hope the site is reactivated or that someone has managed to make a backup

What is Service-Now and how is it related to ITSM?

I'm new to Service-Now, can anyone help me to find out what is ITSM and how Service-Now is related to it.
What is the best way to learn this tool so that it is easy to know and understand.
Service-Now started out as an Cloud ITSM Tool, now it contains much more and you can also create custom application on the Platform. But I would suggest you check out there Wiki and Community which is actually pretty good.

ITSM is broad topic, it's about Incident, Change, Problem Management and a proper CMDB. You will find enough on the web. Like on Wikipedia.

Regression testing on Apple WebObjetcs GUI

I have recently started a new job in a company that depends heavily in an application developed with Apple Web Objects.
It happens that this company does not have a way to make automated tests whenever a new update is received, weather with bug fixes or new features.
We have no access to the code since it is a proprietary application.
My idea is to develop a suite of test cases to allow us to do regression testing through the GUI.
I have looked for tools for this, but could not find anything capable of "seeing" which components are in the GUI.
Before I arrived to the company, other people had already tried with HP LoadRunner with no success. I tried with AutoIt 3.0 just to check if it would recognize the fields, but also without success.
Anyone with experience testing such kind of application?
Which tools do you think that could fit for this purpose?
I appreciate your opinion.
Thank you!
Bruno
After some research I found a few good solutions for such problem. I came down to two solutions. Both of them are image based "which means it can "see" the user interface, just as the human eye does".
Proprietary solution

Open source solution

Hope this can help others in the future.

How to keep track of bug progress and feature request in web development projects?

I am trying to find the best way to maintain a bug tracker and feature/upgrade requests for clients on web development projects. Ideally it would be an open source system we can have installed on a sub domain of our site.
This will then allow each client to login and add bugs/features/upgrade which we can hopefully keep track of.
I have been trying to use and implement trac but it just feels too "techy" and a little too complex for setup.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Shadi
UPDATE
Just to clarify, we do want a system to install on our servers, the trouble with trac is the install process in relation to what you get and how clients feel about it is a little poor. But if something is awesome but has a complex setup, that isn't a problem...
Mantis is another. Simple UI.

If you have Linux boxes, trac is much easier to install. Config takes a bit, but wasn't a problem in my experience.
I've heard good things about FogBugz. :)
If you don't want to install it yourself they have a hosted solution also.
Have you taken a look a Bugzilla? Not sure if it meets all your needs but it is free but you can get paid support. It's an open source project AFAIK.
