I have not found the solution to this problem:
Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly.
This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
Apache-improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.
Apache- Press the Logs button to view error logs and check
Apache- the Windows Event Viewer for more clues
Apache- If you need more help, copy and post this
Apache- entire log window on the forums
I have changed port numbers, dealt with firewall, and even installed the old version of xampp and suitecrm to import and export and nothing.

Good morning,
I am trying to move an installation of SmartAssembly 6.8 onto a new developer machine.
It looks like it has installed without any issues, it starts ok and I get the dialogue with the Activate and continue buttons. The machine I am installing SmartAssembly on doesn't have an internet connection, so I have been looking at the instructions here https://documentation.red-gate.com/sa6/getting-started/licensing/activating
If I click the Activate button to enter the serial number I get the following in a dialog box:
The server is not operational.
I have the option to send / save the error report, but that won't save either.
If I click continue and then try to activate from inside the app I get the same error message as above. If I click the debug button on the form with the error message I get a little more information:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException was unhandled
Message: An unhandled exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in SmartAssembly.exe
Additional information: The server is not operational.
Specs of the machine I am installing on are as follows:
OS: Windows 10 (64bit)
Memory: 4Gb
Disk Space: 50Gb free.
Apps:
Visual Studio 2013
MSSQL 2014
.NET Framework 4.5.x and 4.6.1
I have also tried installing as a normal user and with administrator proveleges, but I get the same error.
I am clearly missing something obvious, so any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks
In this particular case I cured it by installing the latest update for that version, that seems to have done the trick.
When I install xampp its working fine. But once after restart/shutdown, It giving this error.
[Apache] Problem detected: Apache not found.
[Apache] Disbling apache buttons
[Apache] Run this program from your apache root directory.
[mysql] Problem detected: mysql not found
[mysql] Diabling mysql buttons
[mysql] Run this program from your apache root directory.
Xampp version: xampp-win32-1-8-3-4-VC11-installer
System configuration: windows 7 32 bit
Note: while install it shows to disable the UAC.
Here is the image:
Try installing as admin and disable your anti virus when installing, you can also disable UAC as well. And always run as Admin when launching by right clicking the .exe and go properties and set "Run as Administrator"
Find the httpd.exe in the specified route.
C:\xampp\apache\bin
first check your xampp folder where apche/bin and mysql/bin is available or not.if it is not available then search it into your drive and put the xampp folder as it is.And last restart your xampp control panel and start the apache and mysql server.
This happened to me yesterday after a crash. It was saying Tomcat was not found, and the buttons were disabled. First thing I checked was if Tomcat was in the Xampp directory and could be started manually. It could, so I started looking for configuration errors. I clicked the config button at the top, then service and port settings, and then the Tomcat tab. I saw immediately that Xampp was looking for Tomcat 7, and that was the problem. I had updated to 8 a long time ago and I guess when the system crashed, Xampp reverted to the default config. I changed that to 8, and restarted Xampp. Problem solved, but the buttons were still disabled. I then discovered that in the xampp-control.ini file, under the ServiceNames section, it said Tomcat=Tomcat7. I changed that to Tomcat8 and restarted Xampp, and the buttons were working again. I would imagine it would be a similar procedure for any of the other modules not being detected. I hope this helps someone.
you placed xampp control on the desktop for a quick start this is the main reason for disabled apache and MySQL button. try to start from install xampp folder.
I was trying to install Apache marmotta on my home laptop.. I was able to install the program. But when I'm starting it by clicking the Start Apache Marmotta button, I m getting an error like the linked image below.
The error occurs just before launching the localhost:8080 page. The program exits if I hit the cancel button.
Does anybody have answer to this?
Is there any other dependency on some other program like MySql server or anything?
I had the same problem in my case:
Solution:
Just disconnect the internet and so it would begin to work properly subsequently.
Sorry for my English.
I am trying to enable some extensions in my php. If I want to initiate the changes I have to reset the apache server in XAMPP. But I just keep getting a window that says xampp-control.exe has stopped working and gives me options:
Debug Program
Close Program
Check Online for a Solution and Close Program
No matter which option I choose it will then give me this Application Error:
Exception EAccess in modele 'xampp-control.exe' at 001ABEFE. Access Violation at address 005ABEFE in module 'xampp-control.exe'. Read of address 00000042. I have read that I should just install a WAMPP server. Is there a way I can successfully reset the Apache Server?
Possible workarounds are listed on XAMPP's forum here
There are some possible workarounds:
Enable back the write privileges and to be aware of this potential issue
Modify the ini file with an editor the properties you need or
To run the XAMP Control panel as administrator
Running it as administrator worked for me.
When I try starting Fiddler2 on my "windows 7 enterprise" box, I get this error message in a dialog box. What could be wrong ? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've probably restarted windows several times but even that doesn't seem to make a difference. Do I need to delete any files that might have been created during a previous aborted session ?
TITLE : fiddler startup aborted
message : fiddler appears to be running in this user account. Maybe in a terminal services session ?
This indicates that Fiddler's mutex cannot be created-- no lingering files or settings would cause this. If it repros after a reboot, then there's a problem elsewhere. Version 2.3.4.6 (https://www.fiddler2.com/dl/fiddler2alphasetup.exe) this blocking error is changed to a prompt.
