I have a solution in Visual Studio 2017 and try to add Azure Function app to this solution:
but when I click "Ok" I get an error:
Method not found: 'Void
Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.WindowsAzure.CommonUI.Controls.CommonGlyphs.ConfigureCloseButton(System.Windows.Controls.Button)'
and it creates an empty folder "FunctionApp1", without any data inside. Why and how to fix this problem?
As M0rty mentioned that you could try to update Azure Functions and Web Jobs Tools.
If reinstall the Azure development is possible, you could reinstall it and try again.
You also could get detail steps from Azure Functions Tools for Visual Studio.
Try installing Visual Studio updates.

I can not find the Azure Function Icon, when I try to create a new Project.
My current Visual Studio version is 15.9.7 and I own a Azure subscription. I can create an Azure Function in VS Code but not in my regular Visual Studio. Azure Developement is installed
My Setup in the VS Installer:
When I try to install azure functions manually, I get this error:
Does anyone know, what the problem is?
it seems this is a generic problem , a github issue is created in here:
https://github.com/Azure/Azure-Functions/issues/399
You need to install the Azure features from the VSTS installer. You are also missing the ARM Template option, which indicates you don't have the feature installed.
The VS Installer is what is used to install VS and is in the start menu:
I have upgraded my visual studio to visual studio 2019 and now sometime with few
files while trying to check in code to TFS its giving me error:
Value cannot
be null. Parameter name: pUnk
I tried even to delete whole source code and downloaded it again but no success.
Seems like its an issue with Visual Studio Preview 2019:
https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/problem/398508/value-cannot-be-null-parameter-name-punk-when-chec.html
In my case vs2019 Preview hasn't been near my machine but I encountered this in vs2017.
Couldn't get rid, but luckily I hadn't uninstalled vs2015 from my machine and was able to check in using that.
Bit of an edge case workaround maybe...
I had this issue with Visual Studio 2017. I had multiple instance of visual studio and one instance Licensed with different account (admin). Closing other instance of visual studio solved my problem.
I'm on the latest version of Visual Studio 2015 Community (14.0.24720.00 Update 1) on Windows 10. I'm currently developing a Cordova App for Windows 10, iOS and Android using the Visual Studio Tools.
When I right click on the Project, then go Store > Associate App with the Store, I can successfully log in, see my existing apps and select the one I want, but when I try to actually associate that app with my VS project, VS just crashes.
I've already tried repairing Visual Studio through Add or Remove Programs and also cleaning out my project/solution, but none of this worked.
Any advice?
Thanks!
I had the same issue. Apparently, this is a known problem with VS2015 Update 1 (with the latest Cordova tools support).
The current workaround is to choose "Create App Packages" instead of "Associate App with the store." When you do this, the proper association will be generated and you can test as usual. I was successful using this approach.
The fix in Visual Studio 2015 for this crash is now available in Visual Studio 2015 Update 2. Here's a link to the installer: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691129
I'm trying to the install the latest version of the Windows Azure SDK on Windows 7 using the Web Platform Installer. The installation succeeds but I'm not able to see Windows Azure project templates in Visual Studio 2010. Any ideas are appreciated.
Cheers,
In a vanilla install of Visual Studio 2010 (SP1) they should be there automatically in the folder "Cloud". There you can download the Azure Tools to actually use them.
see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/ff687127.aspx
I would like to know whether you can see the “Cloud” folder on the left side of the new project dialog. If not, please try to run the following command:
Devenv /resetsettings
When you first run Visual Studio, a dialog may be prompted for you to choose a setting. Please make sure to choose general developer settings. If you choose other settings, certain project templates may be hidden.
Best Regards,
Ming Xu.
Please check if you have the following folder on your machine:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Cloud
You can use “Program Files” instead of “Program Files (x86)” if you’re on a 32 bit machine. If Windows Azure is installed, you can see project templates under this folder.
Best Regards,
Ming Xu.
Try installing Windows Azure SDK manually by downloading individual msi's from here (depending on your machine arch) http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=28045
and see if you are running into an error for any one of them.
(WindowsAzureTools.VS100.exe should install the project templates)
Hope this helps.
Finally got it working.
Uninstalled Visual Studio 2010 Express
Repaired and did a complete install of Visual Studio 2010
Installed the Azure tools and SDK manually
Not sure why it worked but it did. Thanks for all the answers!

Are you using a version of Visual Studio where you can create Web projects and things like that? Maybe it is a problem with the version. Can you create MVC projects?
After several deployments, I receive the following error when trying to re-deploy a solution:
Error occurred in deployment step
‘Recycle IIS Application Pool’: The
communication object,
System.ServiceModel.InstanceContext,
cannot be used for communication
because it has been Aborted.
The only solution I have found (not ideal) is to restart Visual Studio.
Anyone know a better way?
I have seen this a couple of times as well and the only resolution I found was to restart Visual Studio as well.
How come restarting Visual Studio will fix anything :)
You need to run Visual Studio as Administrator (by right clicking on its icon)
If still persists, restart the server.
If still persists, add the administrator account under which you are running Visual Studio to Sharepoint Central Administration for that sharepoint web portal.
