How to capture response data into a list and to use those in next thread using BeanShell post processor?
Example: the response data was having:
mobile number:1
mobile number:2
mobile number:3
mobile number:n
I want to capture all mobile numbers and want to use in next thread.
How to do that? Can any one tell?
Using Beanshell for scripting is some form of a performance anti-pattern therefore I'll provide solution using JSR223 Test Elements and Groovy language
Given you have response data like:
mobilenumber:1 mobilenumber:2 mobilenumber:3
Add JSR223 PostProcessor as a child of the request which returns the above data and put the following code into "Script" area:
props.put('list',prev.getResponseDataAsString().split(" ").collect())
The above code will split the response data by spaces and store the result into an ArrayList structure
In the next Thread Group you will be able to access the values like:
def list = props.get('list')

I have to send JSON requests based on the CSV test data. Suppose there are 90 records - which are basically the request bodies. I put the Thread in a loop to keep sending the request until the last one in the CSV.
Every time I get the response, I need to append them into a single CSV file. Now, since Jmeter Listener does not consolidate all the responses into CSV (I do not want it in xml), I want to know if I can write a Java snippet in BeanShell, capture all responses and write them to a CSV file.
You can use JSR223 Sampler with File.append adding text with , to append to CSV file
This will append to the end of the file.
File file = new File("out.txt")
file.append("hello\n")
If you want the "program"
Add JSR223 Listener to your Test Plan (since JMeter 3.1 it is recommended to use JSR223 Test Elements for scripting)
Put the following code into "Script" area
new File('myfile.csv') << prev.getResponseDataAsString() << System.getProperty('line.separator')
where prev stands for previous SampleResult class instance. Check out Top 8 JMeter Java Classes You Should Be Using with Groovy article for more information on JMeter API shorthands available for the JSR223 Test Elements.
A better option would be saving a response into a JMeter Variable using i.e. Regular Expression Extractor and writing it to a file via sample_variables property
Is there a way to send the XML request dynamically and validate the XML response?
My scenario is:
I will have a CSV dataset config and inside the csv file I will have two column, the first one is for the inputXMLFilePath and the second column is the expectedXMLResposneFilePath.
So I need to have a JSR233 PreProcessor under HTTP request sampler, read the input file path convert it to the post body, and also has another JSR233 sampler for load the expected response from the expectedXMLResponseFilePath and compare it with the previous XML response. I have a snippet for JSON which is working fine. but for XML how can I do it?
You can use __FileToString() function for both use cases:
To send the XML request body, like ${__FileToString(${inputXMLFilePath},,)} (where ${inputXMLFilePath} is the variable from the CSV Data Set Config)
To validate the response using Response Assertion configured like:
Field to Test: Text Response
Pattern Matching Rules: Equals
Patterns to test: ${__FileToString(${expectedXMLResponseFilePath},,)}
You can use JMeter Functions literally at the any place of your Test Plan so their flexibility is higher than for other test elements. Also JMeter Functions are being compiled into native Java code therefore their execution speed will be higher and footprint will be less comparing to Groovy scripting.

I have a looping process that will extract some values from a web service (working) and loop through to pull all the information for each value (working).
I need to capture the whole return into a variable so I can modify it and post it back up later.

When the "Baseline for ..." get kicks in, I get the proper response
But the "Get response" BeanShell PreProcessor is picking up old responses

Given where my "Get response" object is, I would assume the:
vars.put("ResponceData", prev.getResponseDataAsString());
...would grab the response from "Baseline for ${ID} of site ${callSite}". Please help!
You are using wrong test element. Beanshell PreProcessor is being executed before request therefore it acts properly and returns response from the previous request instead of current one. You need to change it to the Beanshell PostProcessor and your code will start working as you expect.
It is recommended to avoid scripting where possible, if you need to save response data into a JMeter Variable you can do it using i.e. Regular Expression Extractor. According How to Extract Data From Files With JMeter article the relevant configuration will be something like:
Reference Name: ResponceData
Regular Expression: (?s)(^.*)
Template: $1$
If you face a JMeter limitation which cannot be worked around without using scripting make sure you are using the most performing scripting language, since JMeter 3.1 it is recommended to use JSR223 Test Elements and Groovy language
I am trying to use beanshell post processor so I have started with simple http request where I am hitting the google home page. "${url}"=="https://www.google.co.in". After http request page I am adding the BeanShellPostProcessor where in Script area I am using ctx variable and some other code which is like :

String code = prev.getResponseCode();
String message = prev.getResponseMessage();
log.info(threadNum);
log.info("This line has been written by Beanshell Post Processor");
so I have two concerns -
i.The way I am using beanshell is this right ?
ii.Where is the console for beanshell processor in jmeter?
like sample request result can be viewed in listener. I tried with BeanShellListner, but it doesn't show any data.

You are using it almost right, the only error is that you cannot write an integer to the log file, you need to cast it to String first like:
log.info(String.valueOf(threadNum));
You won't be able to see the result of pre and post processors anywhere apart from jmeter.log file. In case of PostProcessor you can modify parent sampler response data via prev.setResponseData() method where prev is a shorthand to SampleResult class instance
I would also recommend considering switching to JSR223 Elements and Groovy language as this way you will get better performance, out of box support of XML, JSON, etc., and other Groovy's "syntax sugar". See Groovy Is the New Black article for more detailed explanation.
I have to write load tests for web application using JMeter. The application has items available for booking, each item has a 'Book' button. If some user clicks this button for item, it becomes unavailable for other users. My question is:
Is it possible to make JMeter threads to book different items (to make different requests) and how to implement it?
You should be able to determine what parameter is being posted by different "Book" buttons and modify nested requests as needed. Test plan structure should be something like:
Open Booking Page - HTTP Request
Get all Booking IDs - Post Processor
Book - HTTP Request
Where "Post Processor" can be
Regular Expression Extractor
CSS/JQuery Extractor
XPath Extractor
In case of multiple matches Post Processor will return multiple variables like
BookindID_1=some value
BookindID_2=some other value
BookindID_3=some other value 2
....
BookindID_matchNr=10
There are at least 2 options on how to proceed with these values:
Iterate all the values using ForEach Controller
Stick to current virtual thread number via __threadNum function so thread #1 will take BookindID_1 variable, thread #2 - BookingID_2 variable value, etc.
It is also possible to take random value using __Random function but it may result in request failure if item is not available.
The correct way of 2 variables combination looks like:
${__V(VAR1${VAR2})}
So combining BookingID_N and __threadNum will look like
${__V(BookingID_${__threadNum})}

Random no generator and selector will work only for integers but csv config is better/standard practice. If you need more help please paste your test plan here with explaination of your need.
