i have a database with data and i want to skip/offset the first 3 row.
$data = Data::orderBy('created_at','desc')->skip(3)->paginate(1);
$data = Data::orderBy('created_at','desc')->offset(3)->paginate(1);
both query is returning all result from the start. can anyone help me with this?
Thanks.
skip doesn't seem to work with paginate. What you can do is exclude the row by using whereNotIn.
$data = Data::orderBy('created_at','desc')->whereNotIn('id', [1,2,3])->paginate(1);
If you don't know the id you can query and use the result.
$id = Data::orderBy('created_at','desc')->take(3)->pluck('id');
$data = Data::orderBy('created_at','desc')->whereNotIn('id', $id)->paginate(1);
You can not use paginate() and skip() together. You can do is :
$data = Data::orderBy('created_at','desc')->skip(3)->take(10)->get(); and update these values skip and take values as per your custom implementation.
If you literally want to skip first 3 rows and never ever use them in pagination, you can do :
$dataToEliminate = Data::orderBy('created_at','desc')->take(3)->select('id')->pluck('id');
$data = Data::whereNotIn('id', $dataToEliminate)->orderBy('created_at','desc')->skip(3)->paginate(1);
See documentation for reference.
I have explored the paginate method from the code and came to know
$data = Data::orderBy('created_at','desc')->paginate(1, '*', null, 2);
The 4th parameter, you need to provide the page number (not the offset).

I want to get all the data of today's Date, but during getting it I want to apply an operation on the data of one column only NOT others. This operation is from another function.
$data = Net::whereDate('created_at', Carbon::today())->get();
I have two options:
During getting data, call to that function on the specific column
After getting data, put a loop and then apply that operation and save data into new object
In this table, there is a column called profit, and I want to encode this profit into alphabets by calling encode_code() function remaining the other data as it is.
I don't know how I can do this, please help me if anyone knows.
You can use a foreach loop to get each object from the collection and for each of those object,call the desired function.
$data = Net::whereDate('created_at', Carbon::today())->get();
foreach($data as $key => $dat)
{
$data[$key]->profit = encode_code($dat->profit);
}
I think you should call the function and turn it like this
I just didn't know what you wanted to do, so this is my best
$data = Net::whereDate('created_at', Carbon::today())->get();
foreach($data as $i => $d){
$data[$i]->profit = encode_codeļ¼$d->profit);
}
Of course you could loop through your result and encode each row, but this would prevent you from reusing this code.
Instead you could put that encode function directly into the model, so that you can reuse it everywhere:
public function getEncodedProfit() {
return encode_code($this->profit);
}
Now you can just use this function everywhere in your controllers or views like that:
echo $net->getEncodedProfit();
I have a Laravel query using pagination.
I want to be able to return the result based on the pagination but also get the overall total of the query and append this to the return. So for example the pagination is set to 5 but the overall total might be 20.
$query = Model::paginate(5);
$queryTotal = $query->total();
$query->append($queryTotal);
return $query;
The Laravel Paginator does this already.
You can see that when serializing results to JSON there is a total key which represents all rows matching that query.
You can also see there is a total method available from the paginator:
$results->total()
Along side other methods that can be found in the Pagination Docs
$query = Model::paginate(5);
return $query;
You can access overall total using
{{ $query->total() }}
For more Info read Paginator instance
The paginate function returns a LengthAwarePaginator object. It simply not possible to add another field to this object.
Your best option is to manually create a new collection in which you merge the LengthAwarePaginator with your newly added data.
An example would be:
$query = Model::paginate(5);
$addition = collect(['totalResult' => $query->total()]);
$queryData = $addition->merge($query);
return $queryData;
Naturally, if you just return the LengthAwarePaginator object, you can simply call the total() function, if you use it in your blade files for example.
Hope this helps!
How can I remove the limit/offset from the below query?
$query = TestModel::where('a', 'b')->limit(100);
$query->removeLimit();
I'm using a query from another module and I don't want to change the code.
You can reset the $limit property:
$query = TestModel::where('a', 'b')->limit(100);
$query->limit = null;
$unlimited = $query->get();
$query->getQuery()->limit = null;
One can reset the limit by passing the null value to the limit method.
$query->limit(null);
Works both with Eloquent\Builder and Query\Builder.
The simple answer to your question is - you cannot. Because you have already filtered the result set to a limit of 100 tuples.
What is the reason for you to avoid the change in code in the Model? Because what #Dhruv has suggested is the correct way to achieve what you want to.
In fact, if you still want to keep the code intact. You can rather define another function in your model this way and use it internally in your old function:
public function newFunction(){
return TestModel::where('a', 'b')->get();
}
public function oldFunction(){
return $this->newFunction()->limit(100);
}
Keeping your code consistent, then use newFunction() in your Controller to do whatever you want to.
get(): To get all record from table use get():
$query = TestModel::where('a', 'b')->get();
limit(): To limit the number of results returned from the query
$query = TestModel::where('a', 'b')->limit(10)->get();
$sqLines = SqLines::whereDocumentId($id)->get();
$sqLines->where('item_id','=',0)->count();
item_id is an unsigned integer field
In my development server, it shows result but in my production server with the record exists.
Any reason it happen?
You can use the following
$count = SqLines::where('document_id','=',$id)
->where('item_id','=',0)
->count();
OR
$data = SqLines::where('document_id','=',$id)
->where('item_id','=',0)
->get();
$count = count($data);
With get(), you retrieve the result, so you can't limit it after. Change your code to this:
$sqLines = SqLines::whereDocumentId($id)
->where('item_id','=',0)
->get();
echo $sqlLines->count(); // wil return the number of selected records.
Maybe you will need to change your code. Use one of the following options:
Option 1. Remove the "->get()".
Option 2. Remove the "->count()" and add a loop for check manually the result with a "foreach", "while", etc...
I have implemented simple pagination using laravel. It works fine. However, I want to add total number of records and trying to use the method getTotal() but it returns null value.
$records = DB::table('tablename')
->where(condition)
....
....
->simplePaginate(10);
In the view, adding links works fine.
{{$records->links();}}
When I use,
{{$records->getTotal();}}
it returns null.
If I use,
{{$records->count();}}
it returns the count of records for a given page.
Any insights please?
That's how simplePaginate works. From the docs:
If you are only showing "Next" and "Previous" links in your pagination view, you have the option of using the simplePaginate method to perform a more efficient query. This is useful for larger datasets when you do not require the display of exact page numbers on your view.
The simple method is simple because it doesn't need to do the extra, inefficient-on-large-tables count query to obtain the total.
There is method total() in that pagination object. Just call that object. You will get total count.
ex: $records->total();
I had the same problem, what I did was
$records = DB::table('tablename')
->where(condition)
....
....
->paginate(1); //set as 1
$total = $records->getTotal(); //get total
Then returning it like this(I am using ajax that is why I return it as array):
return Response::JSON(array(
'pagination' => (string) $records->links('pagination::simple'),
'total_records' => $total
));
