My Android Studio preview is working fine.
But I made my preview screen to new window. When I wanted to make it inside the Android Studio again, I can't find a way! How can I restore my preview setting as Default? (to be located inside the Android Studio preview tab. Not separated window)
Follow these instructions
1.Select the Preview Window
2.Go to Window menu -> Active Tool Window
Docked Mode in Window menu
This will make preview window in docked mode there will be settings icon you can change it if you want to change it again

I recently applied an update to Visual Studio Community 2022 (64-bit).
Current Version is 17.3.4
We still use Web Deploy for some legacy asp.net sites and the Web Publish Activity window is very useful for switching between dev and production environments.
After a recent Visual Studio upgrade I noticed that the Web Publish Activity window was not visible, so I reopened it via View -> Other Windows... and it appeared as expected in the lower window, as a new tab along with Output and Error List.
But after closing my project and reopening it, the Web Publish Activity window is missing again. I tested other windows like PowerShell and Bookmark Window and they ARE maintained after closing and reopening VS.
I also tried saving a new window layout with the Web Publish Activity window open and then reapplying that layout after a VS restart but that had no affect.
It is very annoying to have to go though multiple levels of the View menu to reopen this window every time I open this project.
Does anyone have any advice on how to keep this window locked/pinned?
Is Microsoft trying to "encourage" me to stop using this window?
If there is another way to quickly change between publish profiles that would be acceptable as well, but I cannot find one.

This may be a bug with this particular window (the fact that it doesn't stay pinned after closing Visual Studio that is).
Perhaps as a decent workaround you can at least assign a keyboard shortcut to open this window:
Go to Options → Environment → Keyboard
Filter down to "View.WebPublishAcitvity" or find it in the list
Create a keyboard shortcut of your liking by typing it in the circled red box and then click the Assign button:
After doing that, you should be able to use that shortcut to open the window much faster at least.
Unable to find an option to put avd emulator window inside or on top of android studio window so that don't have to switch window while debugging.
On AVD emulator on the bottom right corner there are 3 dots, click on that, a window will pop up, from there go to settings and you will a button to keep the AVD always on the top.
Just reduce the size of the Android Studio window to 2/3 or half of the screen, and put the emulator to the other side.
Similarly, you can put your web browser and Android Studio side by side, so that you can look at relevant documents or codes on the web when typing in your codes at the same time.
Using Visual Studio 2015 Update 3, I am trying to follow the video instructions for creating a new project found here: http://zebble.net/docs/creating-a-new-project
I do the following:
I ensure the Zebble extension is installed
I click the start screen's 'New Project' link
I select 'Zebble for Xamarin - Cross Platform Solution' as project type
I name the project 'My application'
I click the 'OK' button
What happens next is:
The Windows 'Settings' dialog window appears on top off my Visual Studio window and in the left hand pane 'For developers' is selected (the same dialog that would appear if you pressed the Windows key on your keyboard and then typed "settings" followed by pressing the Enter key)
To resolve the Windows 'For developers' Settings dialog window appearing each time, you need to enable your device for development.
To enable Developer mode:
From the For developers settings dialog, choose the 'Developer mode'
Read the disclaimer for the setting you chose, then click Yes to accept the change.
After clicking Yes, you may be prompted to restart your computer.

I'm using Visual Studio 2015.
If you create a new MVC project with all the basics it gives you (home controller, account controller, etc..), then press F5 to start it, visual studio shows the "_layout.cshtml" page in a preview window.
This gets rather frustrating if you're trying to make "on-the-fly" changes to a specific view, press F5 to refresh and see your changes, then alt-tab back to visual studio, only for it to have auto-previewed the layout page again.
How do you turn this feature off?
In Visual Studio, you should disable the checkbox for 'Enable browser link'.
I was able to reproduce on a new install. For me, the offender was "Web Essentials" extension. Try to disable and restart VS.
Also, it only happens with Edge's developer tools open. Haven't seen this with Firefox nor Chrome.
This is caused by the F12 Developer Tools where the page of the selected element in the DOM Explorer/Elements tab is automatically opened and synchronized in Visual Studio.
If you want to keep the Browser Link feature enabled, the F12 Developer Tools window open, and not lose your currently focused tab in Visual Studio, here's a work-around:
1. Right-click on the _Layout.cshtml tab in Visual Studio and select New Vertical Tab Group.
If you already have a tab group open, select Move to Next Tab Group.
2. Resize the splitter control of the tab group so that the tab group is barely visible.
3. Repeat these steps for all other files that automatically open in Visual Studio which disrupt your workflow.
I am unable to replicate your exact problem, but the following should disable the preview tab:
Type "preview" into Quick Launch
Select "Environment --> Tabs and Windows"
Disable "Allow new files to be opened in the preview tab"
Is there a way to quickly maximize (and then restore) Visual Studio 2010 panels? For instance, I'd like to temporarily maximize the Output window or unit test results window. In Eclipse, I would just double-click the window tab, but in VS, this undocks the window.
The desired behavior is: double-click to maximize the window, then double-click it again to restore the panel to its original position.
Use this keyboard shortcut: Shift-Alt-Enter
It will maximize your current panel similar to Eclipse, but it will use the full screen unfortunately, not just the whole Visual Studio window. I prefer the way Eclipse does it, but this does help in Visual Studio land.
This feature has been added to Visual Studio Productivity Power Tools 2013 ("Double click to maximize windows"), which is free to download.
This new feature allows double-clicking any window tab to maximize it to full-screen mode and restore it back to its initial docked state - without having to worry about float operations or changes to your window layout.
In Visual Studio 2010, you can double-click the title bar of a given panel to put it into float mode, then use it just like any other window (maximize, Windows 7 dock, etc.). Ctrl-double-clicking it again will turn it back into a docked panel.
You can also right-click on the title bar and select Dock as Tabbed Document to display the panel in the same way the code windows are displayed.

Closest the Eclipse behavior is to follow these steps:
Right-click the window title bar, select Float
Double-click the window title to maximize
Right-click the window title, select Dock
After these steps, double-clicking and Ctrl+double-clicking the window maximizes / restores itself
Here it is as a key board shortcut for commando types:
Ctrl+Tab Switch to your desired window/panel.
Alt+- Show the dock menu.
T Choose 'Dock as tabbed document'
Right click title bar, then choose 'float', it will only get that window, not the whole panel. Then double-click to maximize.
Also, the commands are
Window.Float
Window.Dock
and you can assign them keyboard shortcuts under tools\options. So for example I mapped them to Ctrl-Shift-F7 and Ctrl-Shift-F8, and then after once maximizing the Output window, henceforth if I have the output window docked, I just focus it and then a key makes it big and other puts it back, hurray.
If you have already installed Productivity Power Tools 2017 (PPT), and the double click file tab is not working or any other feature in PPT, just reset the PPT and it should work just fine after restarting visual studio 2017.
