I'm new to automator and I'm trying to create a flow that will:
Open a web page
AppleScript 1 -- Fill out inputs, click submit
Safari navigates to the next page
AppleScript 2 -- Fill out more inputs, click submit
I'm able to get steps 1, 2, and 3 working fine. After hitting the first submit, Safari opens the next page. However, my script for the next page isn't running correctly. I believe it's running both AppleScripts on the first page. Is there a way to make sure the second script is running on the second page?
My flow actions look like this:
Get Specified URLs
Display Web Pages
Run AppleScript
Get Current Web Page from Safari
Run AppleScript

Ensure that your window selector is updated once you move on to the next page. I have seen in almost every single automation I have created, the Login page has a different window title than the actual web app screens after login.
With the Modern Design Experience in UiPath, the Window selector is a little hidden from the rest of the selector, so make sure you open the Window Selector dropdown in the Selector Window (or modify the Window Selector property in the properties pane) to modify that when advancing from the Login screen to the main app screen.
I'm trying to use Automator on my mac to get around a system dialog. When I open a pdf I get this dialog from acrobat for which I always want to select deny:
I made an automator app that works to select deny, but when I change the application that opens pdf's to this automator.app it doesn't actually open the document, it just launches acrobat and selects deny on the dialog then just sits there.
The way I'd like it to work is that I want to double click any pdf on my computer and always select deny on this dialog which always pops up whenever acrobat opens up.
I'm not married to accomplishing this the way I'm doing it now, I just don't know how else to do it.
The current automator steps/flow is this:
Ok I found how to do this in a slightly different way for anyone interested. Just using the Watch Me Do function instead since it always pops up the same way. Then I just saved it as an app and I right clicked a pdf file and selected this custom app as the one to always use when opening pdf files.
we have a computer which only purpose is to display a web page on a big screen. This page has a calendar, which reloads its data every 60 seconds. The whole page reloads after 60 minutes. Both of these reloads are called from jQuery by setInterval(); function.
This all works fine, but sometime the connection to the server is lost and then there is this message Connection lost shown on the big screen with some hints and a button to reload the page (on Firefox).
Is there a way, how to reload this page (or a tab in Firefox (or other browser)) with a Windows at command (scheduled task) automatically every X minutes? Or do you have other tips or solutions how to make sure that the page is always shown?
For firefox:
use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/tab-auto-reload/
For chrome:
use https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/easy-auto-refresh/aabcgdmkeabbnleenpncegpcngjpnjkc?hl=en
To display a website, I think 1 of this 2 browser will do the trick.
Personally I am using firefox to display computer lab timetable in my institution.
I am creating an app with Laravel that is supposed to use GoogleMaps API to show certain data in the map.
What I want to achieve is, that when you browse the root of the app, so when the user hits the main website, a new window is opened that will show a map to work with. So I want to have the ability to work with a second screen that only shows the map and all the information that should be displayed on the map.
How can I open a new window with certain content automatically when I browse to the main page.
Best
Sebastian
All modern browsers prevent this from happening, as it's commonly abused to serve popup advertisements. You'll need to make the new window happen via a user action, like a click on a button.
I have recently introduced some Google +1 buttons to my site.
I am calling the button like this:
<g:plusone size="small"
count="false"
callback="plusone_vote"
href='http://www.mysite.com'>
</g:plusone>
The plusone_vote callback is a js function which pushes a tracking event to Google Analytics.
This works for the majority of users. However, a small number are getting an issue. When they click on the +1 link a new IE window appears and then displays the message
"The webpage you're viewing is trying to close this window.
Do you want to close this window?"
If the user clicks "No" they get they Google +1 privacy page ("I'm fine with Google using my +1's and other info around content and ads on non-Google websites"). They can then click the "Share my +1's button" and the window closes. However, they "+1" action never appears to happen. The button does not turn blue and the page does not show up in their profile.
The users were all using IE8 or IE9 on Windows 7 - a combination which works fine for most users. The only thing that appears to be the same is that they all use the same type of laptop - I'm struggling to see the significance of that though.
Any ideas?
The actual issue is with your IE security settings: the page MUST be displayed as a regular 'internet' webpage in order for IE to correctly run the +1 and Facebook Like plugins without this error message.
In order to fix this:
Go into Internet Options in the IE menu
Go to Security Settings. Click on 'local intranet'.
Click on sites. Make sure 'detect local intranet' and all it's sub checkboxes are unchecked. Go into 'advanced' and make sure your webpage's domain is not listed. Close this window.
Now, click on 'Trusted Sites' and then 'Sites'. Make sure to remove your site's domain if it's listed.
All sites which are not 'Intranet' or a 'Trusted Site' default to public internet settings, which is the same as what your users will see (unless you're writing a business application which runs for internal network users, I suppose). This should fix this pop up, and allow +1 and Facebook like plugins to function correctly.
