I have built an application that uses the import endpoint in the Gmail API Gmail.Users.Messages.import() to clone an email message but allow for subject changing.
It then deletes the original/old message using the remove endpoint Gmail.Users.Messages.remove()
I would like a way to refresh the Gmail inbox UI or even to just reload the web page from Google Apps Script - however, I'm not aware of how to do this - and a look around the internet hasn't proven especially helpful.
Unfortunately it's not possible to control the user's Gmail interface via an API (or add-on). The best your application could do is instruct the user to do it themselves.

I have an outlook addin that I've built using Yeoman. The addin communicates with a server API on my server to combine data from an email with additional data from a database that a user has saved against an email address. This is all working great.
Next I want to store a copy of the email server side, as a file on disk, .msg preferred but I'll take a .eml if thats the only option.
I have 2 options but don't know if either are possible. Either the addin generates the .msg file and posts it to the server API OR the server side API generates the .msg file directly. I have got the server side using the Outlook v2 API and able to pull back the email information when the client passes it the token, id etc. If it could just generate/download a .msg file server side this would be ideal.
As a side note, many of the Microsoft API pages point out the deprecation of the Outlook API in favor of the Graph API, however there are inconsistent links between the pages and it get confusing. I have discovered the token from getCallbackTokenAsync only works with the Outlook API and not Graph, but I cant find out a way to generate a graph compatible token. All the example code from MS uses Office.context.mailbox.restUrl which still gives the Outlook API url and not Graph!
So I guess I'm trying to find out if it's even possible to get/generate a .msg or .eml file either client side using outlook.js or server side using one of the api's. Thank you.

The Office JavaScript API (OfficeJS) doesn't provide anything for saving messages as msg files (or getting streams). The best what you could do is to use Graph API where you could get the EML file, see Get MIME content of a message for more information.
The server-side code may use the OAuth 2.0 On-Behalf-Of flow (OBO) to request a new access token with permissions to Microsoft Graph. Read more about that in the Authorize to Microsoft Graph with SSO article.
The on-behalf-of (OBO) flow describes the scenario of a web API using an identity other than its own to call another web API. Referred to as delegation in OAuth, the intent is to pass a user's identity and permissions through the request chain.
For the middle-tier service to make authenticated requests to the downstream service, it needs to secure an access token from the Microsoft identity platform. It only uses delegated scopes and not application roles. Roles remain attached to the principal (the user) and never to the application operating on the user's behalf. This occurs to prevent the user gaining permission to resources they shouldn't have access to. See Microsoft identity platform and OAuth 2.0 On-Behalf-Of flow for more information.
Eugene's answer is good. If ultimately you need to get that message to your backend service, using Graph as Eugune described would be the recommended approach. If for whatever reason you are still looking for a capability to access it on client using Office.js, it is not a part of the product. What I want to build:

In order to do so, google says my app needs to be verified, which can take weeks, and I also need to set up terms of services pages, privacy policy pages
I also need to supply authorised javascript origins which MUST start with https, which of course is a problem during development, since my origin is http://localhost
I also need to set up support emails and homepage link

Is there anyway I can use these Google Calendar APIs for editing/creating calendar events locally, without having to set up everything mentioned above first?
Unverified apps can still be used by the developer who created the project on google developer console.

The app or script might display an "unverified app" screen before it displays the consent screen. This is based on the specific scopes that your app includes in the request.
You can still work on your app while you are going though the verification process. However that being said i would start that process asap it can take a long time to get verified.
Yes, you can. As far as I am able to tell, all the verification step does is remove the "unverified app" screen. As long as you click Advanced > Go To ... (unsafe), you should be able to create and edit calendar events for that user in your application.
In order to be able to create and edit calendar events, you need to use the most sensitive scope, which is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar. I couldn't figure out how to edit and create calendar events in my web app until I changed my scope from calendar.events to calendar.

I am a beginner trying out api for fun.
The problem is, lets say, I want to write a simple windows program with golang to let my friends read and edit one of the sheets saved on my google drive. How can I do this without having them download a credential file?
What I want it to do is simply redirect them to the Oauth Page right away, and if their email address is one recognized by the app it will grant them access to that google sheet.
What i think you need is to integrate your go app with Oauth protocol.
More specifically, with the Google provider.
This is mainly 3 steps:
add the oauth client to your application

I'm not sure if google has something more specific for google drive integration and/or go-lang client in particular. Please do some searching.
make the glue code on your go app so that the user can interact with this (the login button (or command, if it is terminal based), error messages, logout, etc)

There's this similar question, however the question asker seems happy with developing contextual gadgets rather than actually accessing a user's email.
In before anyone mentions: IMAP and POP are generic, non search based protocols and do not provide full access to gmail. Neither gmail.com, nor any of the official Gmail native apps, use IMAP and POP.
Most webmail services have private, non-IMAP/POP APIs and protocols, eg, hotmail (back when it existed used HTTPMail which was reverse engineered and implemented by hotwayd).
I could run Android gmail with a proxy and attempt to reverse engineer the Gmail protocol itself, but I suspect others have had the same need in the past and may already have a solution.
I did find a list of client of Gmail clients on Gmail Agent API but they don't seem maintained past 2004.
Android's Gmail app is using Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) to push email messages/notifications and sync with the phone. I think that’s “the API” you are looking for. The bad news is that it is obviously very well protected.
You can get started for free with GCM's JSON REST API and use it for your push messaging projects, but forget about using it for your Gmail in the same fashion Google does. The only option for getting a similar efficiency would be using IMAP's IDLE extension, which uses also push.
Focusing on what you need, I think there are decent solutions for the use cases you have listed in your question… You could use a [**Google App Script**][4] or libs like [**GMail for Python**][5], which seems a valid option to me... from the [**GMail for Python GitHub**][6]:

I'm using the MVC helper WebMail to send emails. However the speed of it seems to be of concern. Especially when I have to send more than 1 email at the same time. I tried using a thread, but that didn't work since the Webmail object was null. How do I speed this up? Any ideas appreciated.
Forgot to mention, this is during testing and I'm using localhost and gmail! Not sure if that is causing the issue.

If you want performance, don't use the WebMail helper. Use the classes in the System.Net namespace.
This allows you to open a new thread and send the email out-of-band from the web request.
We use Google Apps mail (gmail) in the cloud, opening a new thread, and sending the email from there, using the System.Net types (not WebMail). It works pretty well, as we can respond to the user without having to wait for the email to be sent.
Be careful about using Google Apps / gmail though, especially in development. We had one of our accounts disabled by google because of this. During development, you should use your local ISP, or better yet, use SpecifiedPickupDirectory, as it works better when unit testing email receipt.
