I downloaded one file (using the export button) and saved into some folder. Next time when I download the same updated file, I would like to remove the earlier downloads from the same folder. Will it be possible in UiPath? Can anyone have an answer to this?
I expect that folder should be empty before I download (using an export button) file from the application.
Via the Assign, use this method: Directory.GetFiles(targetDirectory). Then you have an array of files. Then via a Foreach, delete the files.

I'm creating an application in swift, when I'm trying to push the application to GitHub it seems to add "derivedData" etc, which I do not want to be added in the git.
I've tried to look around for the .gitignore file but cannot find it anywhere.
Do I've to create a new .gitignore file? How and where should I place this? What should be ignored? If not, where can I find the file?
I'm tried to look around for this for hours but still no success. So I had to ask you guys for the solution of this.
Thanks.
Files that start with a dot are hidden in the Finder by default. Press Cmd-Shift-Dot in the Finder to see hidden files and folders.
If you need to create a .gitignore file, go to gitignore.io. Enter Xcode in the search field and click the Create button. A .gitignore file will be created for you. Copy the contents into a file in a text editor and save the file as .gitignore. Add the .gitignore file to your project folder. You can find more detailed information in the following article:
Telling Git to Ignore Files in Xcode Projects
To avoid having to create a .gitignore file for each Xcode project you create, you can create a global .gitignore file. Name the file .gitignore_global and place it in your user home folder.
I am having a particular issue with Send to Compressed Folder.
What i do is:
Select folder - right click - send to...
Usually it created a zipped file at the bottom of the current with the same name as the folder i wanted to zip. Lately, however, the position of the zipped folder is not the last one in the folder and it automatically makes me rename it.
I know it's a minor issue, but since i deal with lots of zipped folder at work it would be nice to go back as it was.
Thanks in advance!
This is something that I thought would be extremely simple to do. A math teacher handles her notes through Dropbox and gets .zip files emailed to her containing updates (by updates- they're the full folders so she can delete the old and extract the new ones in their places). She asked if it was possible to extract the zip files, then copy them to the dropbox. Coming from a Linux/Mac point of view I thought it would be easy- unzip command with -d... Little did I know Windows doesn't support unzip. I've tried googling ways to do this, and found that windows doesn't seem to have a default 'unzip' command of any kind? And when trying to copy the files, wildcards don't work either??? She gets 7+ .zip files at a time, all are named "Unit (number).zip" So I was using Unit*.zip. Any help/ideas would be appreciated- I already suggested she tries ubuntu because she constantly states how she likes the way my laptop looks.
WinZip can quickly unzip multiple files through its drag and drop interface. You can select multiple WinZip files, right click, and drag them to a folder to unzip them all with one operation.
From an open folder window, highlight the WinZip files you want to Extract
Right click in the highlighted area and drag to the destination folder
Release the right mouse button
Choose WinZip Extract to here
To unzip multiple Zip files without drag and drop:
From an open folder window, highlight the WinZip files you want to Extract
Right click in the highlighted area
Choose WinZip Extract to ...
Enter the destination folder

You can easily use the GUI for this:
Here is a trick I have found for extracting multiple zips at once without installing any extra programs:
Select the zip files that you want to extract
Right-drag them to an empty space (in the same folder is fine)
Select Extract and follow the prompts
Yes, it is not quite as nice as using the command prompt, but it does get the job done.
Also, wildcards do work with command prompt. Perhaps you weren't issuing the command correctly. This command works fine for me:
copy Unit*.zip D:\folder2\
I'm not able to refresh file list in Project Navigator. There is no refresh button, and I don't think restarting Xcode should be the solution.
How do you see files that you add externally? I'm on Mac.
How do you see files that you add externally?
Files cannot be added externally. Dumping a source file into the project directory does not add it to the project. To add a file you must add it to the project from within Xcode.
If you have a bunch of files that you need to add then in the Add File dialog you can just select all the files you want at once and add them, without having to repeatedly open the Add File dialog. Just use control clicking to select multiple files.
Close and reopen the project, if necessary.
This may be required if you are using folder references (as one example). In that case, touching the directory might work to refresh what Xcode displays.
For a single file, you can open the external file in Xcode and cmd+s to save it, it will be refreshed in Xcode.
Also, for the quick way you can just chose the external folder in Xcode and cmd+s, it will refresh all your external file in this folder.
File > Add files to "Runner" 👍
I don't think you can refresh the Project navigator to detect files that have been modified outside of Xcode, and that instead you need to manually add or delete files from the Project navigator with "right-click" / two-finger tap.
Some other solutions suggested:
File > Add Files to "Runner"... but that doesn't delete files
Open and close Xcode, but that's not practical. It also did not work for me.
Use cmd+s, but Xcode does not detect files which need to be saved. And so, that also did not work for me.
You can just press "Command + B", for refresh your project in xcode
This is probably a very easy question, but I'm having trouble deleting resources from my XCode project. I added them using "Create Folder References for any added folders" so that I could import a whole offline HTML site with its correct folder structure.
Unfortunately, now it has been added like this I don't seem to be able to delete individual files in the structure (it's not available from the Edit menu).
Can anyone help please? Thanks!
That isn't how folder references work. The idea is that its only a reference, you can open files within it and save it from those editors, you can delete or move the entire reference throughout the xcode project, but you can't actually edit it - its read only as far as xcode is concerned. Likewise, you cannot restructure it (move internal files around).
I'm not to sure why apple decided to make this the case, but apparently they have.
If you want to know how one might use the xcode folder system, here's how I tend to use them with my projects:
Whenever I subdivide code into folders, when I drag them into my project I click "recursively create groups for any added folders". If you do this, you any changes you make within xcode will not reflect the actual file itself. As far as I know, there is no way to do this. What does happen then is that when you add a new code file to it, the directory starts off in that file by default. ie, you don't need to navigate to it manually when you create a new file.
I use folder references whenever I'm working with content for an application I'm using. This way, I add all my images, folders, configuration files, whatever - and xcode immediately lists them. The reason I have it within xcode, I can I copy the files into the executables directory by dragging the folder reference into a "Copy Files" build phase.
Thats basically (to my knowledge) how one uses the folder types within xcode - sadly, I don't know how to achieve the functionality you want. You may have to manually delete the folders in finder, which if you do use folder references will update xcode to the change.
I ran into the same issue by using "Create Folder References for any added folders". I wanted to change some of the times but that's not possible. I had added a main folder that had other directories under it. I just had to select the main directory and deleted it and then just add the subdirectories that I needed. You can't make any location or removal changes to the directories that are added this way. -- Jeff
In the project browser, where you're looking at files, right click and choose "Delete". It'll prompt you to either remove the file from the project (leaving the underlying file on the filesystem) or to also move the underlying file to the trash.
I ran into the same issue. Delete the files from the folder directly as opposed to from within Xcode. You'll see the entries turn red under your project. Restarting Xcode should make these red entries vanish.
