Fail to put logo in navigation bar website Hugo Academic theme - rstudio

I am new to his forum, so my apologies if I breach any common rules (please instruct where I go wrong)
I have built a webpage for a new project, using templates (Rmd) in RStudio. All is well, but I fail to manage to get a logo in the navigation bar (next to the menu items). I have looked extensively on the Hugo pages itself, and some code on GitHub repositories. All without any luck.
The only code that I could find is repeated below. But is does not get me anywhere.
in the config/_default/params.toml
main_menu = {align = "c", show_logo = true}
logo = "x.png"
with he logo in the appropriate folder (static/im)
Help appreciated

As far as I can see from the navbar.html layout file, the image file must be named logo.png (or logo.svg) and must be placed in the assets\images directory of your hugo project.
It may be necessary to relauch the hugo server to see the changes.

Hugo theme submodule marked as dirty, doesn't update

I'm using the Hugo Whiteplain theme for a personal site hosted through Netlify. I am following tutorial. When I push/publish on GitHub Desktop, I am told that my git submodule is dirty. As a result, I cannot change the theme's background color.
[submodule "themes/whiteplain"]
path = themes/whiteplain
url = https://github.com/taikii/whiteplain.git
What do I do to regain control of my theme? Can I change the color without dependence on this dirty submodule?
There are many ways to customize a Hugo theme. For instance, you can:
edit the theme directly and let it drift from the original project,
create a fork and use it as the theme to be able to pull updates
from the original theme while developing your own version,
edit the theme inside the website itself.
This last option means that you do not touch at the theme itself, but instead make a copy of any file you want to edit inside the tree of your website, following the same path structure, and edit that file.
For any element of any of the customization files (layout, css, scss, etc.) that exists both under the tree of your website and under the tree of the theme, Hugo will prioritize the element in the file under the tree of the website.
For any element not present in the tree of your site, Hugo will use what is in the theme tree instead. This means that you do not have to copy the entire theme or even entire files in your site, but only the elements that you want to customize.
If you choose this method and if you set your theme as a submodule following the Git submodule manual, you will never get into a dirty submodule situation.
Example
Let's say you want to edit the background color of your theme and that the variable is defined in a scss file under:
your_site
+ themes
+ theme_name
+ assets
+ scss
_content.scss
You need to keep the tree architecture and create a file under:
your_site
+ assets
+ scss
_content.scss
You can create a file from scratch, but an easier option is to copy the file from the theme and paste it there. In that file, you can customize the background color (or any other setting) however you like.
Note
I have found this way of customizing a theme (which is actually the way advised in the Hugo documentation) to be the simplest.
One situation where this method is not optimal is if you plan to use the same customized version of a theme for several websites. In that case, creating a fork of the original theme makes more sense as you can add your customized theme (your fork) as a submodule of all those websites and your customization is thus portable.

Hugo: adding more pages to single-page themes

Hugo is a general purpose website framework and a static site generator. However, most of the themes are single page themes.
Is it possible to add more pages to these single-page themes in Hugo?
I am specifically interested in the Dimension theme.
Thank you very much for your help.
This depends on how the theme is constructed. In Dimension's case, the answer is no - you can add new markdown files to your content folder, but they will only be rendered on the index page, not as their own individual pages. If you want to generate multiple pages, you will have to either edit the theme or choose a new theme that supports multiple pages.
To edit the theme, see the docs on customising a theme and creating a theme. You will also need to know Hugo templates, so the go template primer is an essential read. Editing themes can be a little tricky, but if you have worked with other templating languages then it is not too much different.
In your case, you will want to edit layouts/_default/single.html to create a single-page view for all of your markdown files. You will also need to edit layouts/index.html to link to them from the index page, otherwise no-one will find them.
Hugo is not just a general purpose website framework/generator. I have been using it for article publishing, news website and to generate a blog! Most of the themes are single pages because people created themes in the way they love. Although still in development, you can check my website Desktop Luxury that is fully static and built with hugo. It's super fast, supports AMP and users just love it. They can't tell the difference between Wordpress sites and Desktopluxury.com in terms of look. Note: The difference is clearly visible in terms of load time, speed and customization ability!
Although it varies by theme, you can easily create a .md (file that contains content - similar to .html*) file out of your blog folder. For example, you want to create an About page. In the root folder that contains your hugo files, create a directory root/content/blog. Add permalinks to your config file that tells the theme to categorize files present in /root/content/blog folder as the blog files. Create the pages such as an about.md & contact.md in root/content folder. They won't show in the blog list, however, they'll be rendered and accessed by siteurl.xyz/about or siteurl.xyz/contact.
*I said .md file similar to .html file as the OP seems new to webdevelopment.
EDIT:
Final homepage after adding few posts
I just downloaded the theme mentioned in the question, added few .md files by opening CMD in the root directory of Hugo website folder and running command ~~ $ hugo new professional.md ~~
Created various pages and added content in them just like we write articles. I achieved the result you wanted with no issue at all. It was super easy!

Impossible to reference an image from the Assets Folder

I am currently building a Windows Universal App and the learning curve is OK. I get a response from my webservice, parse the JSON, display info in the app, but my current issue is the following one:
I tried to display an image that I put in the Assets folder, but this doesn't seem to work.
This is my layout:
As you can see, the text "Test" is correctly displayed but not the images.
On the right side, in the explorer pannel, I cannot see the files that should be here:
WHAT I HAVE TRIED:
In my example, they are in the Assets/picto folder, but I have also tried the root directory Assets, as wal as creating Image folder at the same level.
I have definitely no idea how to add a simple picture, so any help is appreciated!
Adding items in Windows explorer to the right location doesn't add them to your solution / deployment.
You have to right-click the picto folder -> Add > -> Add existing item. Your items are not even in your solution, so they won't show up on the layout screen.
Make sure you set the correct build target for each image.
If an image shouldn't show up, even through it's in your solution, this is often the reason.

Image not showing up in README.md on GitHub

I am trying to add an image to the README.md in my repository using markdown below:
![ScreenShot](https://github.com/i-saumitra/Voice-controlled-MP3-Player/blob/master/screenshot.jpg)
But the image is not showing when I visit my repository.
Instead the link to the image is showing up. Clicking the link will open the image in new window.
I have also tried using relative path:
![ScreenShot](screenshot.jpg)
But this is giving page not found error.
What is the correct markdown to display image in README.md
Both README.md and image file are in same path/directory.
What is the correct way to display an image in github README.md?
Complete content of README.md file is as below:
Voice-controlled-MP3-Player
===========================
A MP3 player which accept voice command like PLAY, PAUSE, FORWARD, etc. Using C# and Microsoft Speech API.
![ScreenShot](https://github.com/i-saumitra/Voice-controlled-MP3-Player/blob/master/screenshot.jpg)
Updated content
Since January, 30th 2013, GitHub now supports relative links in markup documents.
This means that your code ![ScreenShot](screenshot.jpg) would now work flawlessly.
As pointed by #Brad, this may also ease a scenario where the images are different in two branches, but bear the same. In that case, switching from one branch to another, would dynamically switch the image in the rendered view, thus without requiring any change to the Readme content.

Previous answer when GitHub wasn't supporting relative links
You have to use the raw url format. In your case that would be https://raw.githubusercontent.com/i-saumitra/Voice-controlled-MP3-Player/master/screenshot.jpg
This means that the correct markdown would be the following
![ScreenShot](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/i-saumitra/Voice-controlled-MP3-Player/master/screenshot.jpg)
Using this in a .mdfile on github will display the following picture ;-)
Update following your comment
where is this officialy documented that we have to use raw...i couldn't find it anywhere
This URL format is an undocumented feature of the GitHub site. This means that it could change later. If that ever happens, in order to "rediscover" the new format, click the Raw button when displaying a image. This will "open" the image in your browser. Copy the URL and VoilĂ !
Note: Although the repository is no longer on hosted on GitHub, I've updated the urls to reflect the new GitHub policy regarding user content
You really should use relative urls. That way they'll work better for private repos as well.
![ScreenShot](/screenshots/latest.png)
supposing your repo has latest.png inside the screenshots folder.
~B
For relative URL's to work with images, wrap it inside the paragraph tag.
I was facing the problem, especially when working with the single image.
Example:
<p>
<img src="relativePath/file.png" width="220" height="240" />
</p>
An extension to previous answers...
The image would not show for me when the line:
![ScreenShot](/image.png)
Was directly below a <h2></h2> line and I needed to add an empty line between them.
Hopefully this saves someone some time!
Thought I would update this for 2019 as I had trouble figuring this out for myself. I uploaded my images to a repo on GitHub, and then used the raw url of the image to import it into my markdown file. To get the raw url, click on the specific image link in GitHub so you are on the page for that specific image. To the top right of the photo, there are two buttons, "Download" and "History". If you click "Download", it takes you to that raw url with the picture taking up the full screen. Copy that url, and then paste it like this in your markdown file:
![image description or alt text](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/i-saumitra/Voice-controlled-MP3-Player/master/screenshot.jpg)
The button used to say "Raw" not "Download" so I hope this helps people find it.
This may not be relevant to previous answers. I have the same question as the OP - I was directed here and it didnt help me. I hope I can help add light to this question however - as it covers the possibilities of why images does not render in README.md file.
The issue I encountered is that the file name README.md file is written as readME
Not only its missing .md its also written differently.
Apparently, we should not rename the README.md file. It has to be the original name of that file in order to render the images or gifs you want to upload on github README.md page. Hope this helps someone, in rare of occasions, just like I did.
Check the file extensions because .png is not the same as .PNG.
Also use / instead of \ while specifying the file path.
Side note, when using reStructuredText use:
.. image:: /screenshots/latest.png?raw=true
I've tested with "Copy path" and in some locations this was working and in others it didn't.
In the cases it didn't, I copied the permalink and used it instead.
It doesn;t work when there are any html tags just above the line where image is being imported. You can try removing the html code or add some blank lines for the image to show on Readme.
This is just to help someone who is still having issues with image rendering in README.md:
If your image is named Some Name.png and you are trying to attach it in the README.md like ![Some Name](relative/path//res/Some Name.png), it won't work. The image has to be saved without any spaces in the file name.
So Some_Name.png with ![Some Name](relative/path//res/Some_Name.png) will work.
Make sure you check the case of the file extension. They have to match (either capital or lowercase). If you have my_image.PNG in your root directory and you add ![screenshot](/my_image.png) to your README file, it will not work. For some reason, Windows likes to capitalize file extensions sometimes. Unfortunately, Git does not recognize extension case so if you try to fix it by just changing the file name, you won't be able to commit the changes to the repo since Git will think everything is up to date. So you either have to update README.md or do some workaround like moving the file out of the directory, making a commit, then editing the file name then moving it back and doing another commit.
I had to add a <br> to return a line in order for the image to show on mine. This discovery was inspired by the comment in this thread to leave a blank line after a tag.

how to change template in phpbb3 forum

i want to change default template in phpbb3. for this where i have to made changes. i am trying to changes file inside style/subsilver2/template...but i didn't made any right .please help me ..in which file i have to made changes.i have also try in admin section in style..but not successes... if any one have clue..please help me.
Thanks
Manish
It depends what part of the page you would like to change, since the template is a set of many HTML files with preprocessing instructions. They are located in:
[PHPBB_Folder]/styles/[Theme_Name]/template
You can find the right html file by searching for a specific part of source code copied from the live page of the forum.
Important note: when you're changing phpBB template files, don't forget to reset the template cache in the forum admin panel (go to Admin / Styles tab - and clear cache for what you changed, Template, Theme, or Imageset.
I hope this helps.
