Connecting to On-Premises Oracle DB from Azure Data Factory - oracle

Trying to connecting to On-Premises Oracle DB from Azure Data Factory.
Current Setup:
Oracle db - On Premises
VM with Self Hosted Integration Runtime on Azure - Tested with other MSSQL Server Databases - can connect successfully - This VM is managed by ITP (our Cloud Hosting Team), developers don't have access to it.
Azure Data Factory - configured to consume above Self Hosted Integration Runtime.
I can connect to Oracle db from my local machine, using Taod for Oracle. When passed same credential details - connection fails from ADF.
Do I need to ask ITP to install ODAC on VM for the connectivity?

Congratulations that #Sreedhar have figured out the error by himself:
"Figured out, just need to install Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) on the VM and everything works."
I help him post it as answer and this can be beneficial to other community members.

Is there a way to connect to on prem oracle database using azure pipeline?

I need to connect to on-prem Oracle Database using Azure pipeline. I have created self-hosted agent which runs on the same subnet as the database. I have created a deployment group as well. However, I am not able to find a task that I could add as a stage to the release pipeline that could authenticate the db server using the credentials and run a GET query to pull data. Am I on the right track? Are there other alternatives? Thanks.
please use data factory in Azure to connect Oracle database on-premise. Yes, you should install a self-host Integration runtime for data factory. setup "Linked services" in data factory, so that you can input the credentials/connection string there.

On Prem to Cloud with Data Factory

I have one On Prem Oracle database and one Azure SQL Database and want to use a Copy Data activity to transfer this data.
I have now created a Self Hosted IR for the Oracle database, and I am able to connect to it and preview data from Data Factory editor:
I have a Azure SQL Database that I want to recieve data, and it is set up with AutoResolveIntegrationRuntime, with Connection successful. I am also able to preview data from this database:
When I try to run this Copy Data activity I get following error message:
ErrorCode=SqlFailedToConnect,'Type=Microsoft.DataTransfer.Common.Shared.HybridDeliveryException,Message=Cannot connect to SQL Database: 'sqlsrv', Database: 'database', User: 'user'. Check the linked service configuration is correct, and make sure the SQL Database firewall allows the integration runtime to access.
Based on all Docs/Tutorials I have read this should not be failing. I have tried to open up the SQL Server to allow all IP adresses in firewall rules.
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong here?
Since the integration runtime is a bridge across on prem and cloud , you need to check whether you are able to access the onprem database and the Azure SQL database through the VM in which the IR is installed.
The VM hosting the IR should be able to access both the source and sink for the copy activity to be successful in case if either of source or sink is using the self hosted runtime.
So the issue is not w.r.t Azure SQL database but in the VM hosting the IR

Connected to On-prem Oracle Database from Azure

I have a web application running on azure and some of the data resides in my on-premises Oracle Database. I need a way to get that data from on-premises oracle database to that application running on azure.
I don't have any VPN connectivity to my On-Premises data center.
Can I use BizTalk Service in Azure?

ADO.NET for connecting Oracle Database on server

Recently we have developed an application which connects to oracle database for fetching records. For fetching records, we are using OLEDB for Oracle. Application runs fine on my machine by connectng properly with Oracle ,since i have oracle client installed on my machine. Now i tried to test application on another machine, which doesnot have any oracle instance/Client installed on his machine. Application fails to connect to oracle central DB Server. Is it necessary for users to install oracle client on their machine before the application communicates with Oracle.
Here is Connection string
connectionString="Provider=msdaora;Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=XYZ)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=abc.com)));Persist Security Info=False;User Id=mahens; Password=XXXXXXXXX" providerName="System.Data.SQLOLEDB"/>
The above code is for OLEDB for oracle. Is there any thing i required to install for connecting to central Oracle DB server from my windows application(.NET application installed on local machine).
If we try to use ODP.NET dll and include those dll's along within BIN directory, will that work?..Can any1 tell me a way wherein user need not install any oracle Client on their machine and communicate to server.
-Mahender
I believe you always need the oracle client installed as everything in .net ultimately uses ODP.NET. However, you can use the Oracle Instant Client to make your users' setup process easier.
