issue running jmeter on mac - jmeter

Since I have got my new mac (macbook pro, catalina 10.15.4), I was trying to install jmeter and open .jmx file without any luck. Below are the things I have tried and the errors I'm seeing.
1) tried installing using homebrew (brew install jmeter) first
2) tried downloading zip file and unzipping from http://jmeter.apache.org/download_jmeter.cgi
In both the cases, it installs fine. But, whenever I try to open any .jmx file, I see the following error in UI
The error says
Problem loading XML from:'/Users/sample.jmx'.
Cause:
CannotResolveClassException: kg.apc.jmeter.threads.UltimateThreadGroup
Detail:com.thoughtworks.xstream.converters.ConversionException:

version : 5.2.1
-------------------------------
I have tried downloading plugins-manager.jar and put under /lib/ext folder as mentioned https://jmeter-plugins.org/install/Install/
But, still same issue whenever I try to open a .jmx file

Not "any", but a .jmx file which has Ultimate Thread Group
You need either to download the Custom Thread Groups bundle and unpack it to the JMeter installation folder or install JMeter Plugins Manager which should be able to detect the used plugins and suggest installing missing ones
If you don't know where JMeter is installed by the Homebrew you can re-install it with the plugins like:
brew install jmeter --with-plugins
However the lib/ext folder should be somewhere at /usr/local/Cellar/jmeter/5.2.1/libexec/lib/ext

I was able to solve this by installing jmeter 4.0 ( the package came with "Ultimate Thread Group"). It now opens .jmx files fine and I can edit as well.

Unable to run SparkR in Rstudio

I cant use sparkR in Rstudio because im getting some error: Error in sparkR.sparkContext(master, appName, sparkHome, sparkConfigMap, :
JVM is not ready after 10 seconds
I have tried to search for the solution but cant find one. Here is how I have tried to setup sparkR:
Sys.setenv(SPARK_HOME="C/Users/alibaba555/Downloads/spark") # The path to your spark installation
.libPaths(c(file.path(Sys.getenv("SPARK_HOME"), "R", "lib"), .libPaths()))
library("SparkR", lib.loc="C/Users/alibaba555/Downloads/spark/R") # The path to the lib folder in the spark location
library(SparkR)
sparkR.session(master="local[*]",sparkConfig=list(spark.driver.memory="2g")*
Now execution starst with a message:
Launching java with spark-submit command
C/Users/alibaba555/Downloads/spark/bin/spark-submit2.cmd
sparkr-shell
C:\Users\ALIBAB~1\AppData\Local\Temp\Rtmp00FFkx\backend_port1b90491e4622
And finally after a few minutes it returns an error message:
Error in sparkR.sparkContext(master, appName, sparkHome,
sparkConfigMap, : JVM is not ready after 10 seconds
Thanks!
It looks like the path to your spark library is wrong. It should be something like: library("SparkR", lib.loc="C/Users/alibaba555/Downloads/spark/R/lib")
I'm not sure if that will fix your problem, but it could help. Also, what versions of Spark/SparkR and Scala are you using? Did you build from source?
What seemed to be causing my issues boiled down to the working directory of our users being a networked mapped drive.
Changing the working directory fixed the issue.
If by chance you are also using databricks-connect make sure that the .databricks-connect file is copied into the %HOME% of each user who will be running Rstudio or set up databricks-connect for each of them.

Building RXTX with --disable-locks

I need to build RXTX (http://rxtx.qbang.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) for a 64 bit platform with --disable-locks. ( the target platform is a Ubuntu Snappy platform so there is a problem with the permissions and lock files).
The .configure --disable-locks and make seemed to run ok.
I got a new .jar file and librxtxSerial.so as a result.
However when I installed them, I get the following error :
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: gnu.io.RXTXCommDriver.nativeGetVersion()Ljava/lang/String; thrown while loading gnu.io.RXTXCommDriver
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class gnu.io.RXTXCommDriver thrown while loading gnu.io.RXTXCommDriver
Is there something else I need to do?
Are there other object files I need to copy over.
Thanks in advance.
I solved the problem myself.
The problem was that the configure script was not expecting a java version higher than 1.5 as shown here in t he extract :
case $JAVA_VERSION in
1.2*|1.3*|1.4*|1.5*)
#fix_parameters $JPATH/jre/lib/javax.comm.properties
CLASSPATH=".:\$(TOP):\$(TOP)/src:"find $JPATH/ -name RXTXcomm.jar |head -n1
RXTX_PATH="\$(JPATH)/jre/lib/\$(OS_ARCH)"
JHOME=$JPATH/"jre/lib/ext"
So the paths were not being set up correctly for me.
I changed it to
case $JAVA_VERSION in
1.2*|1.3*|1.4*|1.5*|1.7*)
Then it worked ok.

double-click the file , it show can't open ( check the console ).
//The only info I can find (I'm not sure it's the right one , because when I open the console and click again , nothing changed on consolo.
16/3/30 20:54:38.180 lsd[233]: LaunchServices: Could not store lsd-identifiers file at /private/var/db/lsd/com.apple.lsdschemes.plist
Then I install use java -jar to open .. It give me the message:

2.can't extract /private/var/folders/3w/ly610lmd5nbcqjs6bk57pq1r0000gn/T/orcl1921397507371152795.tmp
BTW:I can use java -jar to open the JDeveloper 1213.

You need to download the two files that make up the install.
Then in the directory where they both are issue a :
java -jar thefirstfile.jar

Automap library issue in Windows7 (with R 3.0.1)

I installed sp and automap libraries to my R 3.0.1 64-bit under Windows 7 (via install.packages command). Installation of them did not display any error and library(sp) works fine however when I try to execute library(automap) I get the following error:
> library(automap)
Error in gzfile(file, "rb") : cannot open the connection
In addition: Warning messages:
1: In read.dcf(file.path(p, "DESCRIPTION"), c("Package", "Version")) :
cannot open compressed file 'C:/Program Files/R/R-3.0.1/library/sp/DESCRIPTION', probable reason 'No such file or directory'
2: In gzfile(file, "rb") :
cannot open compressed file '', probable reason 'Invalid argument'
I looked from the path and indeed there is no DESCRIPTION file (or folder) in that path. However there is just libs folder under which folder x64 and inside it file sp.dll
Any idea what could cause this?
I would definitely try to run R as administrator, both for installing the packages and loading them. This could solve your problem.
This probably has to do with file permissions. When you install the packages as admin in a location where only admin can read/write, running R as a normal user means you do not have the file permissions needed to load the package. Running R as admin will solve this, as admin does have the correct permissions.
Alternatively, you could install your R packages in a location where a normal user has read/write persmissions, e.g. C:/Users/UserName (or something like that, I do not have my windows machine accesible right now).
