Power Query - Multiple OR statement with values - powerquery

I've been doing research on this and I find a plethora of articles related to Text, but they don't seem to be working for me.
To be clear this formula works, I'm just looking to make it more efficient. My formula looks like:
if [organization_id] = 1 or [organization_id] = 2 or [organization_id] = 3 then "North" else if … where organization_id is of type "WholeNumber"
I'd like to simplify this by doing something like:
if [organization_id] in {1, 2, 3} then "North" else if …
I've tried wrapping in Parenthesis, Braces, & Brackets. Nothing seems to work. Most articles are using some form of text.replace function and mine is just a custom column.
Does MCode within Power Query have any efficiencies like this or do I have to write out each individual statement like the first line?

I've had success with the a List.Contains formulation:
List.Contains({1,2,3}, [organization_id])
The above checks if [organization_id] is in the list supplied in the first argument.
In some cases, you may not want to hardcode a list as shown above but reference a table column instead. For example,
List.Contains(TableWithDesiredIds[id_column], [organization_id])

Query() function in Google Sheets yields stray value: Why, and how can I fix it?

I would like to run a query statement that adds a bullet (●) to each row of output.
Here is my sample data:
Here is the query:
=query($A$1:$B$3,"SELECT '●',A,B",0)
Here is the result:
Why does the first stray line appear in the output ["●"()], and how can I write the query so that it yields only rows 2, 3, 4 and not the first row?
Note that the actual data is much more complicated than this, so solving it with a filter or array does not work well. I need a query solution. And I'd really like to know why that first line is appearing in the first place.

This assigns an empty string to the label for that column, thus eliminating the label row.

How to call Lua table value explicitly when using integer counter (i,j,k) in a for loop to make the table name/address?

I have to be honest that I don't quite understand Lua that well yet. I am trying to overwrite a local numeric value assigned to a set table address (is this the right term?).
The addresses are of the type:
project.models.stor1.inputs.T_in.default, project.models.stor2.inputs.T_in.default and so on with the stor number increasing.
I would like to do this in a for loop but cannot find the right expression to make the entire string be accepted by Lua as a table address (again, I hope this is the right term).
So far, I tried the following to concatenate the strings but without success in calling and then overwriting the value:
for k = 1,10,1 do
project.models.["stor"..k].inputs.T_in.default = 25
end
for k = 1,10,1 do
"project.models.stor"..j..".T_in.default" = 25
end

A common mistake for beginners is to confuse a.x with a[x]. The first form represents a["x"], that is, a table indexed by the string "x". The second form is a table indexed by the value of the variable x. See the difference:
for k = 1,10,1 do
project["models"]["stor"..k]["inputs"]["T_in"]["default"] = 25
end
You were almost close.
Lua supports this representation by providing a.name as syntactic sugar for a["name"].

You can use only one syntax in time.
Either tbl.key or tbl["key"].
The limitation of . is that you can only use constant strings in it (which are also valid variable names).
In square brackets [] you can evaluate runtime expressions.
Correct way to do it:
project.models["stor"..k].inputs.T_in.default = 25
The . in models.["stor"..k] is unnecessary and causes an error. The correct syntax is just models["stor"..k].

Vb6 Case a to b in Select Case(Switch) Enum

I saw this kind of code in vb6.

I don't understand this:
Case enmMain.STEP_RUN To enmMain.STEP_ERROR
If it goes into that case when it meets this condition:
the latest value is STEP_RUN
current value is STEP_ERROR
How does it work?

It means that the case statement will be satisfied by all values of mStep that are between 2 and 5, inclusive.
So there is an imprecision in code. Because the value STEP_RUN appears in an inclusive test twice (see the <= operator). Which behaviour is intended for STEP_RUN, the first or the second? You need to figure it out by understanding the program's logic.
Well, let's read the manual:
If testexpression matches any Case expressionlist expression, the statements following that Case clause are executed up to the next Case clause, or, for the last clause, up to End Select. Control then passes to the statement following End Select. If testexpression matches an expressionlist expression in more than one Case clause, only the statements following the first match are executed.
Select Case will run the first block that matches, and the criteria you can use to match are much more flexible than those allowed in many other languages. Case Is <= enmMain.STEP_RUN Will run for any value of mStep that is less than or equal to 2, and Case enmMain.STEP_RUN To enmMain.STEP_ERROR would run for any value between 2 and 5 inclusive.
Now it seems like somebody didn't quite understand what that meant, though, or at least wrote it in a confusing way, because for a value of 2 only the first Case would run, since as the section I quoted says only the first match is executed.
So the end result is that first 'Do something will run on values of 2 or less, and the second 'Do something will run on values of 3, 4, or 5.

Filter an collection of tuples

I'm playing with iterables and comprehension in Julia and tried to code simple problem: find all pairs of numbers less then 10 whose product is less then 10. This was my first try:
solution = filter((a,b)->a*b<10, product(1:10, 1:10))
collect(solution)
but I got error "wrong number of arguments". This is kind of expected because anonymous function inside filter expects two arguments but it gets one tuple.
I know I can do
solution = filter(p->p[1]*p[2]<10, product(1:10, 1:10))
but it doesn't look nice as the one above. Is there a way I can tell that (a,b) is argument of type tuple and use something similar to syntax in first example?
I don't think there's a way to do exactly as you'd like, but here are some alternatives you could consider for the anonymous function:
x->let (a,b)=x; a*b<10 end
x->((a,b)=x; a*b<10)
These can of course be made into macros if you like:
macro tup(ex)
#assert ex.head == :(->)
#assert ex.args[1].head == :tuple
arg = gensym()
quote
$arg -> ( $(ex.args[1]) = $arg; $(ex.args[2]) )
end
end
Then #tup (a, b) -> a * b < 10 will do as you like.
Metaprogramming in Julia is pretty useful and common for situations where you are doing something over and over and would like specialized syntax for it. But I would avoid this kind of metaprogramming if this were a one-off thing, because adding new syntax means learning new syntax and makes code harder to read.

mathematica: PadRight[] and \[PlusMinus]

Is there any way that
PadRight[a \[PlusMinus] b,2,""]
Returns
{a \[PlusMinus] b,""}
Instead of
a \[PlusMinus] b \[PlusMinus] ""
?
I believe that i need to somehow deactivate the operator properties of [PlusMinus].
Why do i need this?
I'm creating a program to display tables with physical quantities. To me, that means tables with entries like
(value of a) [PlusMinus] (uncertainty of a)
When i have several columns with different heights, i'm stuffing the shorter ones with "", so i can use Transpose the numeric part of the table.
If the column has more than one entrie, there's no problem:
PadRight[{a \[PlusMinus] b,c \[PlusMinus] d},4,""]
gives what i want:
{a \[PlusMinus] b,c \[PlusMinus] d,"",""}
It is when the column has only one entrie that my problem appears.
This is the code that constructs the body stuffed with "":

With

First you need to be aware of that any expression in Mathematica is in the form of Head[Body]
where body may be empty, a single expression or a sequence of expressions separated by commas
Length operate on expressions, not necessarily lists
so
Length[PlusMinus[a,b]]
returns 2 since the body of the expression contains to expressions (atoms in this case) that are a and b
Read the documentation on PadRight. The second argument define the final length of the expression
so
PadRight[{a,b},4,c] results with a list of length 4 with the last two elements equal to
PadRight[{a,b},2,c] results with the original list since it is already of length 2
Therefore
PadRight[PlusMinus[a,b],2,anything] just returns the same PlusMinus[a,b] unchanged since it is already of length 2
so, youר first example is wrong. You are not able to get a result with head List using PadRight when you try to pad to an expression with head PlusMinus
There is no problem of executing
PadRight[PlusMinus[a,b],3,""]
but the result looks funny (at best) and logically meaningless, but if this is what you wanted in the first place you get it, and following my explanations above you can figure out why
