My user interface for MAMP Pro itĖself won't show up. . Everything run/works fine though (Apache, MySQL).
I'm on Windows 10 Home 1903. The window is simply not there, also not in Task view.
What i tried so far to no avail;
Uninstalled MAMP, installed latest package
Windows + arrowkeys for window positioning
Other Monitors, extended & mirror view
The normal MAMP UI (not pro) launches fine btw.
For anybody else experiencing this issue in the future, it has to do with Windows screen management. For me hitting windows + P and selecting extending screen, enter, and than quickly back to 'second screen only' showed the application UI 'ghosting' somewhere in the right below corner.
Somehow like magic the previews in my task view (and also hovering over taskbar icon) were back and the app is showing again.

I have a MacBook Pro running Catalina with an additional display. I typically have my development-related apps on one display (iTerm2, VSCode, etc.) and everything else on the other display (Chrome, Slack, etc.)
Sometimes (not all the time), when I switch desktops (Ctrl+left or Ctrl+right), access an app using Spotlight (Cmd+space and type), or use Cmd+Tab to switch applications, the focus would suddenly jump to iTerm2 or VSCode. This happens even if iTerm2 or VSCode isn't currently showing; for example, if I try to switch to Chrome on display 1 and iTerm2 is on a different hidden desktop on display 2, Chrome would appear on display 1 and then display 2 would show the desktop containing iTerm2 sliding into view (along with focusing iTerm2).
This severely impacts workflow, since this behavior is unpredictable and involves a lot of typing in the wrong application and reaching for the mouse. What is causing this behavior?
I found that it only happens when I have windows of the same app on both screens.
Say I switch desktop on a screen 1 and Chrome should become active there, then if I also have a Chrome window on my screen 2, it's actually the one on screen 2 that becomes active. Very frustrating..
This bug still exists in macOS Big Sur 11.4. Another symptom is that, after the erroneous focusing happens, manually switching to a space with no windows in it will leave that focused app focused, after briefly focusing Finder, rather than just focusing Finder. It's this last erroneous focusing that causes the space-switching.
Workaround: when it happens, invoke "Show All" from the menu bar (I have a keyboard shortcut for this). Note that switching to an empty space now does a single focusing of Finder, and no further space-switching happens.
I need to do a pre-purchase evaluation of a Flash application that is intended for a touch screen.
Since I still don't have the touchscreen now, I need to run the application on my desktop computer and the application is unusable without a visible cursor.
I am using Windows.
Is there a way to unhide the cursor without asking the developers to change the application?
I've previously used remote access software (such as Windows Remote Desktop or TeamViewer) for this purpose. Another option is a virtual machine - in both cases you'll be able to see the cursor on the local/host machine.
If you happen to be on a Windows 8 machine, you might give a try to the Windows Simulator (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudio/archive/2011/09/29/first-look-at-windows-simulator.aspx, available for free with Visual Studio Express) that additionally simulates multitouch gestures such as pinch/rotate with only a mouse.
A few other ideas:
1) You can try using the "Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key" mouse visibility property (Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Devices and Printers - Mouse - Pointer options). Although not entirely convenient, it might help you if the application doesn't require quick response times.
2) If the application is distributed as a .swf file and the right button hasn't been disabled, sometimes right-clicking (anywhere in the application) to bring up the context menu will cause the cursor to show up and remain visible.
I have windows 7 home premium. I have turned on IIS .Confirmed if its running by typing localhost on my address bar. It show IIS welcome message, showing its working.
However when I try to open IIS manager, nothing happens. I want to deploy my asp.net mvc 3 application on it. How do I solve this issue?
For me helped focusing on the window via Alt-Tab, then pressing Alt-Space and select Move in the drop-down menu. After that, either drag the mouse or move with keyboard buttons. By the way, works with all windows.
Update for Win 10
There is another easier solution for such windows for Win 10. You can pull any available window to the left edge of the screen. Windows will expand the window to half of the screen and prompts you to choose any opened window to fill the second half. Choose the window you can't access and you're good.
I have an issue where a program that runs fine under windows xp has stopped working with windows 7. The application appears to start fine then disappears with only the taskbar icon remaining. If you hover over the taskbar icon you can see the application and it kind of looks correct but selecting it does nothing. I cannot seem to get the application to actually appear. Has anyone experienced anything like this and is aware of any possible solutions?
Recent builds have worked with windows 7 in the past and I don't believe any significant changes were made before this issue arrived.
Thanks
It may be the program is running but somewhere off screen. Shift-right-click the taskbar button and select "Move." Press the arrow keys to begin the move, then move your mouse to attach the movement to the mouse cursor. See if that brings the app to the primary monitor.
If not, you may have an incompatibility issue which will require more research/investigation.
Holding down the Windows key and the letter P at the same time will allow you to change your projector settings. Select the "Duplicate" option. As mentioned above, this usually occurs when you typically use a dual monitor but switch to a single monitor.
Maybe this is a dumb question, but I have the following behavior in Visual Studio 2005 while designing forms:
1 - Drop a control onto the form (suppose it's a Label, just for discussion)
2 - Drag that label to a specific location (aligning w/other controls, whatever)
3 - Release the mouse button
4 - The control is still stuck to the mouse!!!
To get it un-stuck from the mouse, I have to hit ESC, which restores the Label to it's original location.
This is driving me nuts. I literally have to use the arrow keys to move each control into place, pixel-by-pixel. I don't observe this behavior anywhere else in VS2005, nor do I observe it in the OS in general.
I am running on Windows XP inside a Parallels Virtual Machine, hosted on OS X. I don't think there is a driver problem though, b/c as I already said, no other apps demonstrate anything like this.
Please tell me there is some tiny checkbox buried somewhere that will turn off this behavior.
Sounds like you might have ClickLock enabled (or a similar feature). Try this:
Go to Control Panel in Windows
Open the Mouse control panel
Go to the Activities tab
Deselect ClickLock
If that doesn't work, maybe you have a similar feature in OS X?
This problem spread to other applications within my VM, so I reinstalled Parallels tools and it went away.
