You need to update the .env file values to make it work on your machine.
Most likely the APP_URL is wrong in there.
You can learn more about what is going wrong by looking at the doc at https://laravel.com/docs/7.x/installation

I'm a newbie to Laravel projects but I need to have one accessible over the internet so I tried using DirectAdmin but whenever I go to my domain I get an index (pictures attached).
I renamed the Laravel 'public' folder to 'public_html', is that correct? Here is my file structure.
Here is what I get when I go to my assigned domain which isn't my website at all.
The webpage should look something like this
I also found a laravel app using Softaculous linked here (https://panel.freehosting.com:2222/CMD_PLUGINS/softaculous/index.raw?act=software&soft=419). Am I required to use this app?
At first, you need to learn about the laravel directory structure. You don't need to change the laravel public folder to public_html. I am not sure how the DirectAdmin server works. but if you see a laravel directory instead of serving an application it's might be a path-related issue in your server. your domain should serve your application public folder.
I just found a tutorial for the DirectAdmin server with laravel. that might help.
I'm working on a Laravel 5.4 project and it's sandbox environment is this:
http://anything.com/sandbox/abc/www/public
I was asked to change it to:
http://anything.com/sandbox/xyz/www/public
After I change the folder via FTP and try to access the new URL I get this error message:
The requested URL /sandbox/abc/www/public/index.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I tried replacing the base url at the app/config.php and still didn't work.
The website is hosted in a cPanel server.
Any tips on what I should be trying? I just need to change the folder name. That's all.
Thanks for any help!
Answering my question: the problem was that there was a redirection in an .htaccess.
I have a problem with Laravel I recently put it in a VPS I could download, I could use composer, BUT I do not know what it's happening because I go into the folder with URL I mean, I write:
http://myproject.com/
It should be shown me something but it is not happening, when i do that it just makes a download and it does not display anything.
You can test it http://dominicanspasalon.com/ then make click in dominican_spa_salon where the larave is... you will see that it does not display anything, it just makes the download... what could it be?
Thanks!
If nginx you need edit Nginx Configuration "server {}". In that file change root path.
Good luck!
I have uploaded my Laravel app unto a directory under the public folder on my domain,
html_docs/public/store
where 'store' is the folder of my Laravel App. My main domain pointed at 'html_docs/public', please check my laravel app here "https://www.dinhi.org/store/". As you can see, when you click the "sell with us" or "login" on the top header, it returns
Not Found
The requested URL /store/dashboard/login was not found on this server.
I have set up to in my '.env' and in my 'config/app.php' the right url like "https://www.dinhi.org/store/" but still not working, any ideas, help please?
PS: I'm on Laravel 5.3 and I'm using Hesto Multi Auth. In my local, this issue does not exist like everything is good and working.
Laravel is not meant to be installed completely into the document root of your server. Actually, every folder of your laravel application except the public folder should be inaccessible from the web.
Your exposing yourself to a security risk here, since everybody could access every file of your app, including potential .env files with database credentials and the likes.

When I upload the CodeIgniter package to my web server on Bluehost, I can get into the main page, but not sure if this is all I have to do.
I've read many questions here about the same issue, but nothing worked for me. As I understand that I have to add some code .htaccess codeignitor code to the root .htaccess, but that made a mess in my url redirection.
I verified that mod_rewrite is working fine through some php code, but still unsure about the installation procedure. did any have this framework works on his Bluehost webserver??
I found the installation guide on this site, but the test fails back to 404 page.
By the way, I uploaded the package on a subdomain folder
Any comments are appreciated.
That's nothing wrong with Bluehost.. I've upload my CI into a subdomain folder in Bluehost. and nothing wrong.. It work perfectly..
Some questions :
Do you set your base_url correctly? or you can leave it blank.
Are you sure you've write the right .htaccess, and put it in the right place? make sure the index page in the config file is blank.
