Issue copying an SVG image to a Word file - image

When I paste an SVG image to Word, the Y labels get disoriented.
Here is how it looks in browser:
Here is how it looks pasted into a Word document:
Edit 1: thank you for the answer.
Now the picture looks like this, still misaligned:

The reason you are having your issue is in part because there are two text elements,
one for 10 and one for ² etc..
If you have an understanding of how to navigate the code you would:
find each instance of 10 and put (copy & paste):
10⁴, 10², 10⁰, 10⁻²
And while your at each 10 find the
4, 2, 0, -2
and just leave an empty element there.
example of what you have:
<text>10</text>
<text>2</text>
example of what you want:
<text>10²</text>
<text></text>
note the second element might be
<tspan></tspan>
If this doesn't work,
You could try putting in the alt codes for superscript if using windows.
Otherwise you could try:
write superscript character in word
copy that superscript character into the svg code
save svg
import the svg back into word
if works, do the same for the rest of the characters

Find the number of displayed lines, with folding in Ace

Within an Ace editor, it is easy to find the number of lines in the edited document with the following:
myEditor.session.getLength();
But languages like JSON or XML can be "folded." That is, children properties or elements can be collapsed so only one single line is displayed for the parent.
Is there a way to get the number of lines actually displayed? Something like the following:
myEditor.session.getVisibleLength();
Note: the ultimate goal is to have an editor that adapts its height on the page to the content it displays (if lines are collapsed, then it should shrink, and if collapsed lines are expanded again, it should increase its height.)
UPDATE: After a user's response, I use the following. This is not the answer to the specific question I asked above, but rather the perfect answer to what I was trying to achieve overall:
const myEditor = ace.edit(elem, {minLines: 5, maxLines: 50});
To automatically change the height of the editor use maxLines option, but don't set it to a very large value as performance depends on the number of displayed lines.

Prawn with some emojis for ttf-font not rendering text correctly

I have a ruby script to generate a pdf document with some text. The text contains emojis in it.
The problem with the first line of text is that it prints the three emojis separated by something that looks like a cross when they should be a single emoji(family of three members).
The problem with the second line is that it just prints a square instead of the intended emoji(shush face).
I've tried with some other fonts but it still won't work. These are the fonts:
DejaVuSans
ipam
NotoSans-Medium
I can't find the problem
Is there anything missing?
Am I doing something wrong?
The gems are installed and the fonts are in the right place
require "prawn"
require "prawn/emoji"
require "prawn/measurement_extensions"
$pdf = Prawn::Document.new(:page_size => [200.send(:mm),200], :margin => 0)
$pdf.font "./resources/Montserrat-Medium.ttf"
st = "\u{1F468}\u200D\u{1F469}\u200D\u{1F466}".encode("UTF-8")
st2="\u{1F92B}".encode("UTF-8")
$pdf.draw_text st,:at => [10, 100]
$pdf.draw_text st2,:at => [10, 80]
$pdf.render_file "test.pdf"
Turns out Prawn doesn't know how to parse the joined emojis (those formed by the a set of simple emojis joined by \u200D). Prawn/emoji is supposed to do that but there is a bug on the regex used to identify the emojis that causes the joined emojis to be drawn separately.
Also the index and the image gallery used is a little bit outdated.
The solution is to substitute #emoji_index.to_regexp in the class Drawer , in the prawn/emoji source code for a regex that can recognize the joined emojis and update the emoji gallery, after that run the task to update the index and you are good to go.
The fonts have nothing to do with it.
I'm creator of prawn-emoji.
Certainly prawn-emoji v2.1 or older can't draw joined-emojis like 👨‍👨‍👦 and 1️⃣.
https://github.com/hidakatsuya/prawn-emoji/issues/24
So today, i released prawn-emoji v3.0. This release includes support for joined emoji like 👨‍👨‍👦(ZWJ Sequence) and 1️⃣(Combining Sequence), and switch to Twemoji.
Please see below for further details.
https://github.com/hidakatsuya/prawn-emoji/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md
Please try to use prawn-emoji v3.0 if you'd like.
Hope this help.
It does work. You can look up the character codes for deja vu sans.
You can also search for which fonts support which Unicode characters. If you are seeing an empty box with Montserrat-Medium, that means that unicode character is not supported, for example the character, \u200D
Here is a helpful link to search which fonts support that character - http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/200d/fontsupport.htm
Here is another link for code \u{1F92B}, which is your shush emoji- http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/1F92B/fontsupport.htm
Both DejaVuSans and Montserrat-Medium dont support it.
require 'prawn'
require 'prawn/emoji'
Prawn::Document.generate 'foo.pdf' do
font "./resources/Montserrat-Medium.ttf"
text "For Montserrat-Medium"
text "\u{1F468}\u200D\u{1F469}\u200D\u{1F466}".encode("UTF-8")
text "\u{1F92B}"
text " "
font './resources/DejaVuSans.ttf'
text " For DejaVuSans"
text "\u{1F468}\u200D\u{1F469}\u200D\u{1F466}".encode("UTF-8")
text "\u{1F92B}"
end

How to make two rows of words as big as one word in InDesign?

Im not sure how to express it so I posted a picture in link below.
It should look like this
Just enter the text on 3 lines like so:
MORE
AT
THE HALL
Then adjust the point sizes, leading, kearning, etc. to create the aesthetic you want.
In this case line 1 and 3 could have full justification.
You can use scaling of the text(as shown in the character panel in attached snapshot) because changing font size also moves the baseline and causes the text to shift downward.
These attributes are also exposed via scripting.

Matlab Text mode subscripts too big in axis label (LaTeX interpreter)

If I have the axis label $x_\textrm{ABC}$, the ABC is way too big. I tried $x_\textrm{\scriptsize ABC}$ and $x_\textrm{\tiny ABC}$, but that prevents the LaTeX code from being interpretted (I end up seeing the raw code instead of the formatted math). How does one shrink the subscript text size when the subscript is a name that needs to be spelled in text mode?
I posted this to usenet yesterday, but no response so far.
I also tried to modify the text in Acrobat Pro, but I can't actually highlight the individual series of characters (it's the y-axis label).
Finally, I tried to modify it in inkscape, but same problem.
A respondent at the usenet link provided the answer: To use \mathrm instead of \textrm. It looks way better.

replacing text in Swiffy

I have a Swiffy file and can see the text converted from Flash in the swiffyobject.
Tried to simply replace the text with new text, but the old text still displays in the movie.
Is text replacement even possible?
Yes you can, easily, but the results can be problematic.
First, are you viewing your file off a test server? - maybe it's a cache issue. On a local swiffy file, I had no problem changing a word (from "dawn" to "sunset"). But the letter spacing went haywire, and the "t" went missing. It looks like swiffy assigns an x-y position and height to each piece of text, so you can only reliably replace text with text of the exact same length.
